On 21 March 2017, the two Vincent van Gogh paintings that were stolen 14 years ago went back on public display at the Van Gogh Museum. To celebrate the homecoming of Van Gogh’s View of the Sea at Scheveningen and Congregation Leaving the Reformed Church in Nuenen, you can join a special excursion. This small-group excursion will transport you on a 9-hour journey through Vincent’s life, walking in his footsteps in Nuenen and visiting the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam with up to 8 guests.
Meet your driver/guide close to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam at 9am. Step into the day's minivan and sit back for a 90-120 minute drive from Amsterdam to your first destination, Nuenen.
In Nuenen you will spend about 3-4 hours on a guided tour of the Vincentre and get some free time to explore the village where Vincent van Gogh lived from December 1883 to November 1885. Vincent was very productive in this village, completing more than 500 paintings and drawings within a period of just two years. One of these was The Potato Eaters, now one of Vincent’s most famous works.
During your time in Nuenen you'll have a guided visit of the Vincentre Museum, you can explore some of the 23 "Van Gogh locations" by bike or on foot and soak up the renowned Brabant hospitality at the numerous shops and cafes.
After exploring Nuenen, return to Amsterdam around 3:30pm. The last part of the day's tour will be a free visit to the renowned Amsterdam Van Gogh Museum. In the museum you have almost 2 hours to visit this museum on your own.
This tour also includes a canal boat ticket for a 1 hour canal cruise. Your driver/guide during the day will give you a ticket for this activity and explain where to catch the boat at anytime you like.
