My husband and I enticed two other couples to join us. What a mistake. Every other word out of the tour guide's mouth was an expletive or F Bomb when he wasn't talking about his fiancé who was and is still a working girl in the red light district.

This was OK, definitely a must do if you don't plan on visiting the area, but if you are going there Redlight district/Coffee Shops on your own you can skip this tour as it won't offer much new information. For my wife and I it was fine because we were in town to see the whole city, so this was the perfect amount of time to spend in party central. We learned it's history and how the government regulates it, and walked a bit through the streets, seeing it's highlights.

The nighttime tour was a good idea until the rain decided that it wanted to start pouring 10 minutes before I was scheduled to meet the tour guide at dam square. Whom was late by the way. My outlook on the tour changed once we got started. Learned a lot.

We enjoyed this tour! Martin, our tour guide, made it fun and interesting. We could have just breezed through the red light district if we did it on our own but having a tour guide made it informative as well as made us feel comfortable and safe as we went through the area.

Martin was one of the better tour guides my wife and I have had in the of tours we have done in the last 2 years of our European travels. He was very animated and had great stories. It was also clear it was important for him that everyone was entertained and engaged. I would highly recommend this tour if you are not faint of heart

Very good tour with a very enthusiastic guide. Walking through the red light district and learning about the interesting information regarding the area was fascinating. The guide was very interactive and was happy to answer all questions. The tour finishes around 11.30 but the red light district and almost all of Amsterdam dam square area is full of activity till late night. so no trouble getting back to my hotel.

Unfortunately we never found our tour guide. In our confirmation it said to meet at Dam Square and that our guide would have on a black cap with a picture of a red light on it. During the time we were in Amsterdam a carnival/fair was going on right in Dam Square. We arrived at the square about 5 minutes early and waited at the monument as we assumed that would be a good place to find our guide, although the confirmation just said to meet in Dam Square. I waited in one spot while my husband walked around the monument several times. We finally just gave up and walked around the area by our selves. About 2 hours later the guide called and said he was there with a black umbrella, I guess THAT was how he thought we were suppose to recognize him! It was not crowded around the monument as the crowds were all around the fair and I'm pretty sure we would have noticed him if he was wearing the cap we were looking for.. He did offer the tour for the next night but we already had plans. I also saw that he did try to call me about 9:05 but I never heard my phone. I think he, or someone should have made contact with us the day before to give us a more exact meeting location considering the fair was going on in the square.

It was the best tour ever, and what really made this tour so much fun was our guide, Martin! He was funny, upbeat, and most of all he was so knowledgeable and able to answer any question asked. If you want a fabulous and informative Red Light District tour make sure you ask for the guide Martin. He will definitely make this tour the highlight of your trip to Amsterdam.

This tour was pretty boring. One thing I didn't consider when I booked the tour is that most of the places listed in the description are closed at night so we stood around outside them and just listened to the guide's descriptions of the Condom Shop, the Prostitution Museum, others. I don't remember the guide's name. Initially he was fun and informative but then he started talking about the history and legalization of prostitution in Netherlands, comparing it to other mundane jobs and discussing the importance of the health and safety of these sex workers. He spent a lot of time on this topic. Yes I agree 100 with all his points but I'm on a night tour for the racy reputation of this area so don't bore me with the politics. After 45 minutes spent listening to the guide's views and not really walking further than 10 blocks from where we started, my husband and I abandoned the tour. We immediately meet a nice crowd of people at the closest pub and had a better time.

This is a fantastic way to immerse yourself into the culture of the red light district. Our guide, Martin was very knowledgeable and personable. You come away with a good perspective and understanding on how this industry began, how it is managed today and why it continues to be such an integral part of Amsterdam community. Don't do this tour if you are sensitive or have strong opinion against prostitution - this is an educational and interesting tour and we thoroughly enjoyed listening to Martins stories - the amount of people visiting the area on a Saturday night was actually overwhelming so have good walking shoes on and be prepared for a crowd.

Great way to start your time in Amsterdam as the Red Light District is like no where else. And, it is truly unique in that it has been a part of this city forever. I had no idea that it is a business and the areas we covered would not have been easily found during a daytime walk or without a guide. A definite must!

Interesting walk though, and an overall good time. With 20 people in a group, it's bound to be a different experience. It's more like an amusing lecture about the area as you walk through. Highlights include getting a good historical background, walking through the districts, and hearing details about how the industry works now and the way things have changed and are continuing to change._br/_ The tour started 10 or 15 minutes late, and lasted just a bit over an hour -- not the 1.5 hours they speak of.

Martin was one of the best guides we have ever had for any tour! Funny, engaging and very knowledgeable... when we return to Amsterdam, we will try to take the tour again with him... at the least, we highly recommend this tour and try to get Martin!
