Private Tour: Amsterdam Old Town and Red Light District Walking Tour
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Take a private 2-hour walking tour around the tree-shrouded canals and cobbled streets of Amsterdam’s historical center. Let your private guide lead the way to must-see sights and explain the stories behind them. Admire the architecture of the Gothic Oude Kerk (Old Church) and the traditional canal houses. Soak up the lively atmosphere of Nieuwmarkt and Dam Square, then weave through the crowds in the racy Red Light District. Enjoy personalized attention from a knowledgeable guide.
Greet your guide in central Amsterdam at 8pm, then set off to discover the charming, eclectic quirks of the diverse city center. As this is a private tour, you can move at your own pace and enjoy the undivided attention of your very own tour guide.
Amsterdam is unlike any other place in the world. It’s a liberal and open society where few things are taboo: prostitution and marijuana cafes operate in the open and are located only a stone’s throw from major historical monuments. View the sights in and around the Red Light District. See the Oude Kerk, a Gothic church that dates back to the 14th century, as well as the magnificent Royal Palace on Dam Square. Pause at Nieuwmarkt square to admire De Waag, a 15th-century structure that served as the city gates until the early 17th century. Marvel as your guide also points out some of the lesser-known, yet equally fascinating sites. See Our Lord in the Attic, a 17th-century canal house with a hidden Catholic church, and a grand building that was once the town hall. Learn about the history of pawnbroking in Amsterdam and call into a specialty condom shop, where you’ll be wowed by the huge selection of latex. Venture into the heart of the Red Light District, where women grace the glowing windows in eye-popping underwear. Wander down Zeedijk street, a vibrant thoroughfare with plenty of dining and drinking options, and hear about the evolution of the area over the past few decades. After two hours of exploring, your tour concludes at the original departure point.
A must do tour while in Amsterdam. Daphne was amazing. A lovely knowledgeable lady who showed us what we were interested in which wasn and #39;t all about the workers in the red light district. We looked at architecture and got a real feel for how life used to be. Thank you we loved it.

Our tour guide was great!

It was the start of the tour ( the meal) that stopped us from going any further. They said meet your guide at restaurant, that didn and #39;t happen. Explaining to two waiters why we were there was difficult enough, basically just walked away and continued with what they were doing. Food terrible, didn and #39;t stay.

We had trouble at first finding where we were to meet the guide. Once we were on the tour it was great and the guide was very informative! More signs are needed to let people know where the aviator Guides are.

Guide and tour were outstanding . She had the challenge of taking us around town on Gay Pride day, which, brought some 300,000 partiers to the city. High light of our Baltic cruise.

The tour guide was great - pleasant, knowledgeable, spoke very good English. The tour was interesting and, luckily for us, we went on a day that wasn't super crowded.

We found this tour very interesting, the guide was great and really knew the area and the history of the place, he explained fully how it all worked, it felt like an intimate glance into a completely different world. The Museum of Prostitution was also very enlightening it certainly put a different perspective on the girls who work in this area, not an easy job by any means. If you do this tour you will come away well informed about a twilight world that most of us will not often come into contact with.

We had a private tour for 8. Our guide was great. She was humorous and informative. Afterwards, we were treated to an unexpected beverage at a local pub. You don't get the feel for this type of lifestyle if you just walk around in the daytime. The night tour really lets you sense the culture. As we were very late arriving, due to the hotel giving us wrong directions, we were pleasantly surprised that our guide waited for us for almost a half hour. At no time did we feel rushed to complete the tour.

There was a group that was late. We spent the first 45 minutes of the tour trying to coordinate them meeting us. We almost left due to the u acceptable situation. This should never happen.

Include museum on next offering - liked drinks at bar after tour. Insightful with lots of opportunity for discussion on prostitution and trafficking.
