Skip the Line: Keukenhof Gardens Tour and Tulip Farm Visit from Amsterdam

Amsterdam, Netherlands

The unforgettable display of springtime blooms at the Keukenhof Gardens makes it one of Holland's top attractions, and this 6.5-hour tour from Amsterdam is the easiest way to experience its beauty in full. Traveling by coach through the gorgeous Dutch countryside, enjoy sights of colorful tulip fields and a guided tour of a tulip farm before visiting the Keukenhof Gardens. You'll have three hours to explore on your own with your provided map and admire the vibrant display of millions of tulips.

Start with a pickup from central Amsterdam in the morning or afternoon for your 6.25-hour Keukenhof Gardens tour. Relax on the 1-hour drive through the stunning Dutch countryside as your guide explains the history of Keukenhof and the flower fields that are so characteristic of the surrounding region.
Along the way, enjoy sights of the blooming fields — an unforgettable sight in the spring — before arriving at a tulip bulb farm for your tour. During your 45 minutes here, a tulip farmer will take you on an inspiring walk through the fields filled with tulips, daffodils and hyacinths while explaining the hard work involved in maintaining the farm. Spend some time taking photos before hitting the road for the Keukenhof Gardens.
When you arrive at the gardens, use your pre-booked entrance ticket to skip the ticketing queue. This part of the tour is unguided, but you'll be provided with a map, so it'll be easy to find all of the garden's highlights. Soak up the blaze of color that envelops the park and its greenhouses, brooks, shady ponds and winding paths. The landscape is full of millions of blossoming tulips, narcissis, daffodils, hyacinths, bluebells and many other flowers. Pop into a special exhibit in one of the pavilions, or grab a coffee or a bite to eat (own expense) from a refreshment stand as you admire the scenery.
You’ll have three hours to explore the gardens on your own before re-boarding the coach and returning to Amsterdam.

This was on of the best trips I have had. The farm we visited was lovely and the owner gave us a lot of insight into the growing of tulips. Keukenhof Gardens was absolutely amazing! They were beautiful and had a lot more to offer than I originally thought.

Flowers were beautiful at Keukenhof but would have been better in April. Farm tour was a lot of fun. The whole bus trip was an interesting way to see Dutch countryside.

Keukenhof was wonderful! The guide was ok, but as soon as we got there he disappeared. The tulip farm was great too. Visiting Keukenhof is a great trip for any flower lover.

The gardens were top notch but I think that the vendor in Amsterdamard could simplify initial customer pick up in the Dam Square.

How can one not be impressed with this tour. The Keukenhof Gardens were spectacular. The bulb farm was a little disappointing because there was only one small section of bulbs in flower. This was because it was late in the season. Would recommend this tour.

This is the only way to go to skip the lines. This trip was on my backlist and it was truly worth waiting for to see all the amazing flowers. The trip to the bulb was quite educational and learn a lot from them. Now I will rotate my bulbs every year and dry them out for 3 months.

The tulips and other flowers were beautiful. Tour of the tulip farm was also we and #39;ll done. We were also very lucky with great, sunny weather. It was very crowded, but that can and #39;t be avoided during tulip time.

Great experience! Stopping at the farms made the trip amazing! Learned so much about the bulb industry and the science behind the beauty of the tulip fields. Keukenhof gardens should be made a natural wonder of the world! Once in a lifetime experience!

Wonderful experience at the height of tulip season. While Kuikenhof is great, the crowds are quite remarkable, especially on a beautiful day. In my opinion the visit to the tulip farm was even better...same beautiful tulips but no crowds, just a farmer telling the story.

We booked our trip to Amsterdam in April to see the tulips so this excursion was an important excursion for us. We checked out the location of the start of the tour the day ahead. We discovered that the tram from our hotel actually went down a street a couple streets over from the tour starting point street, but once we were on the right street we found the starting point. We debated if we should take this tour with the tulip farm or just the tour with only the Keukenhof gardens. I was glad we had gone to the farm. Even though it was a short farm visit it was informative and we had some good photo opportunities. We still had sufficient time at the gardens. When we were at the gardens the tulips were at near full bloom and the hyacinths and daffodils were still blooming. We had a mostly sunny day with temps around 60 degrees almost perfect. In fact we were on a river cruise and in Amsterdam for 10 days with no rain! The tour took us by bus first to the farm where the owner took us out to the fields and told us all about growing bulbs. He walked us out to a field and we had time to walk among the flowers and take pictures. There was only limited bathroom facilities there, but there are plenty of bathrooms at the Keukenhof Gardens. There was a large gift shop. Then the bus took us to the gardens. They parked in the first row of bus parking which was probably a football field in distance to the park gates. The guide made it clear about the time and where to meet back at the bus after the garden visit. We had enough time to have lunch in a pavilion and see almost all the gardens. There were a lot of people visiting the gardens, but the gardens are over a large area so we didn't have any problem with the number of people there. There are a lot of bench scattered through the gardens so we had chances to rest. We rested since we took the Red Light Tour right after this tour At the end of the tour we went to the meeting point and the bus was there. There was about 50 people standing waiting for there bus right next to our meeting point. Apparently that bus was going to be delayed for an hour so we took 15 or so of those people back in the empty seats of our bus. We had a wonderful time and we recommend this tour.

Wow!! We hit the peak season. Sure it rained, but only for 15- 20 minutes!! We brought some food with us and avoided the lines at the eating places! The flowers were gorgeous!!! Too bad we could not have stayed longer!!

Seeing this garden in bloom was on my bucket list. I visited on 4/9/17. It was perfect. The tour bus was delayed by a massive traffic jam 70 and sunny on a Sunday. They still gave us our full 3 hours there which is plenty of time.

The bulb farm is the first stop. Learnt a lot of interesting facts about the bulb growing. Photos in the flower fields are incredible. Decent prices if you want to order and post to yourselves, e.g. 120 bulbs to UK for 66 as of 10th April 2017._br/_ The Gardens are a must to see. You are by yourselves exploring which is better. No rush. Plenty of pics to take. Have a lunch in one of the pavilions we had a morning tour. Their salads are to die for as we are vegetarians.

This trip was really cool. The guide was helpful and was so keen to show us things at the bulbfarm. Very informative trip it was to that farm. And the keukenhof garden is just breathtakingly beautiful. Perfect timings to watch the entire garden and very comfortable ride to and from agency and #39;s outlet.

We stopped at the tulip farm first and learned how they do research and plant so many varieties of flowers. It was very interesting._br/_ Then on to Keukenhof and just an overwhelming amount of beautiful flowers. So gorgeous. There is a place to eat there too.

A nice trip, the first stop at the bulb farm was very enjoyable and informative. Keukenhof itself was very busy as we went at Easter weekend. If you want to do the boat trip, I would recommend going there first and getting a time slot._br/_ Kuekenhof itself is a really nice place, and we enjoyed the trip. The guide tour and driver were both excellent. As others have mentioned, once you get to Keukenhof, you are left to yourselves to wander around. It's very easy as you have a map.

This was a great tour! The Keukenhof was everything I hoped it would be and more. The gardens are truly spectacular and go on forever. I walked for 3 hrs., never sat down, and didn't even see everything! And the trip to the tulip farm was the icing on the cake. The farmer was very informative, engaging and answered all of our gardening questions about bulbs! I'm so happy I went and will enjoy the 100s of pictures I took for years to come.

I took my 11 year-old daughter here at the end of April when the Gardens are in full bloom. The Keukenhof is an amazing place. You're dropped off here and you're on your own to explore the gardens and various exhibition halls, as you please. My only problem with the tour is that it goes so quickly that you feel you were rushed. So maybe it's just a lot to do and see. The tulip farm was fun and interesting. We learned a lot about tulips and got great photos!

This is a lovely tour! I really enjoyed the Gentleman who runs the tulip farm! His stories were informational with some humor. The display gardens both outside and inside are AMAZING!! You can tell how much work and pride goes into the creation of the Gardens. Make sure you bring your camera and fully charge your batteries before going. You will not want to miss.

This day was top of the bucket-list! The gardens were perfect as was the day - can't believe they were a week from closing! There were literally thousands of people enjoying the flowers and at no time did it feel over-crowded. Very interesting tour through the tulip farm and learning about their production. A friend did an earlier tour and was given a book about Keukenhof but sadly not the tour we were on.

The tulip farm was well worth it -- our host was quite genial and helpful. The Keukenhof gardens were stunning but it was the first sunny weekend day in a long time and the gardens were packed with wall to wall tourists. I would recommend the gardens right when the gates open and then doing the tulip farm afterwards. However, well worth the money. You wouldn't want to drive there. The parking lot was a nightmare and I was glad we had the tour bus.

This was a really wonderful tour. It certainly helped that it was a perfect day weather wise. We loved meeting the farmer and hearing all about his business raising tulips for the bulbs. He was so nice to let us stand IN the fields and take pictures! Then onto the gardens which were breath taking. We took so many pictures our camera battery was done. No one can describe how beautiful this place is. The inside pavilions are also spectacular. I only wish we could have stayed longer. We would recommend taking a picnic lunch to enjoy amid the flowers. We definitely want to go back. Don't miss this.

Overall, good tour. I would have liked to spend more time at the Tulip Farm. It was so beautiful there and you could see the tulips more in a natural setting on the farm. Keukenhof was gorgeous but my Dutch colleagues were right about seeing the farm.

We loved every minute. Despite the rain when we arrived at the bulbfields, we were still able to go outside after a while and enjoy the splendour of the bulbfields. The gardens at Keukenhof were out of this world! It was the most wonderful feeling being able to experience this magnificent sight. Highly recommend this tour.

The tour was nice, but recommend to only book bus and entrancetickets to keukenhof without guide and without visit at tulippulpfarm as it was not worth the differens in price. Tulipfields can be seen on the localbus as well and also from keukenhof you see lots of them
