Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise from Seward

Anchorage, United States of America

Hop aboard one of Alaska’s most popular wildlife and glacier cruises, and take an extraordinary six-hour journey through Kenai Fjords National Park. This must-do tour from Seward offers the chance to view whales, birds and other wildlife as you cruise past alpine and tidewater glaciers among the fjords. You’ll visit seabird rookeries in the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge and enjoy lunch as you listen to onboard commentary from the captain!

From an observation deck aboard your comfortable cruise, watch the Alaskan wilderness awaken! Starting your six-hour cruise at either 8am or 11:30am – your choice – board your vessel from Seward and prepare to take in some of Alaska’s most breathtaking surroundings from the water. You’ll be amazed by the vast amount of Alaskan wildlife to be seen – including a variety of whales, sea lions and birdlife.

Each 95-foot-long (29-meter) non-smoking cruise vessel has been customized for maximum comfort, including warm and spacious inside seating with large picture windows and multi-level viewing decks. All vessels are Coast Guard licensed for 150 passengers, equipped with restrooms and accessible to guests with limited mobility. You’ll enjoy a fast cruising speed, with extra time to photograph and view wildlife and glaciers.
During your in-depth tour of Kenai Fjords National Park, listen to onboard commentary from your informative captain and learn about the abundant marine life you’re likely to view at peak season. Keep an eye out for harbor seals, sea otters and porpoises as well as humpback, minke and orca whales that inhabit the park. Passing jagged icy cliffs along the Kenai Peninsula, view dramatic fjords and calving glaciers – both alpine and tidewater – amid 700 square miles (1,130 square km) of the Harding Icefield, which blankets the Kenai Mountains in glacier ice.

Enjoy an onboard lunch (see sample menu below) and learn about the ever-changing geology of the Harding Icefield, one of four major ice caps in the United States, which dates back to the ice age and forms the steep fjords. As you cruise approximately 100 miles (160 km) round-trip from Seward, admire the stunning landscape teeming with marine life amid plankton-rich waters – important feeding grounds for the migrating whales.

Your captain will point out migratory seabirds that nest in the Kenai Fjords, as well as other native flora and fauna. Be amused by puffins as they dive underwater and view the rookeries of more than 18 other bird species in the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, including black-legged kittiwakes and common murres. Witnessing the vast, untouched beauty of Alaska’s coastal waters, you’ll understand why this wildlife and glacier cruise is Alaska’s most popular!

Very good trip and the sea is calm.It was rainy but not too bad. We saw the natural beauty of the sea with whales, otters, dolphins and birds. The sound of the breaking of the ice from the glacier is fantastic. We enjoyed the trip and we recommend this trip.

Awesome tour!!! We had the entire day in Seward as we were doing back to back Alaskan cruises and had the day to ourselves. We opted for the Kenai Fjords tours and, even in spite of the occasional raindrops could not have more thrilled with the experience. It was a picture postcard adventure if there ever was one. Highly Recommended!!!

Wow! This was the most amazing experience ever! I have been on the Holland America cruise across Glacier Bay, but the Kenai Fjords tour from Seward outdid everything!! Simply brilliant! Captain Mike and staff Emma and team were amazing! Highly recommended if one is considering to get up and close to the glaciers!!

We took the cruise to Kenai Fjords from Seward, the boat was clean and comfortable, the weather was perfect still chilly though. We were lucky to see almost all the wild life that we hoped to see, the whales, killing whales, sea lions and birds. We came to the glacier pretty close right in front of it.._br/_ The crews were fantastic and friendly, the overall trip was pleasant and enjoyable. Thanks to the Captain and crews.

Trip was wonderful. Waters were a little rough however this was to be expected with the weather during the trip. Staff was fantastic and highly accommodating and attentive to those that had difficulties due to the high waves.

The weather turned bad and the trip was cut down considerably. No tidewater glaciers on this trip. Some passengers got seasick. We will have to come back and try again.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. We planned the tour the day before we were to board a cruise ship down the inside straight to Vancouver. Out of all the tours we participated in with the cruise, the Kenai Fjords Cruise was by far the BEST!!! We were able to see Orcas, Humpbacks, Otters, Puffins, Stellar Seals, and the beautiful coast line. Thank you Captain and ship mates for a wonderful tour, great service and yummy food. We would go again in a heartbeat if we're ever up in Seward again.

The ship's captain gave us the tour of a lifetime. Genuinely interested in getting patrons up close to seeing the best of Alaska's wildlife. He provided a treasure trove of knowledge about the environment. This is a must see venue for anyone that comes to Alaska.

Fabulous weather made this tour even better! Our captain and crew were very knowledgeable about wildlife...we saw orcas, sea lions, sea otters, puffins, humpbacks, and glacier calving. It is chilly so bring hats, gloves, and layers as we had the bow of the boat to ourselves with most passengers sitting inside! Beautiful to see Alaska off land as we were not cruisers! Definitely would recommend.

It was good for the amount of time we had. The captain was very knowledgable. You provided a lunch and charged for the drink? You did offer a glass of water from the ships potable water supply. I did not partake.

The captain shared a lot of interesting knowledge about marine ecology and was skillful at setting us up for wildlife viewing. Crew were great, too. Luckily, whales breached and slapped the water with their fins the glacier calved a bit--all the things you want to see on such a trip.

This was a fabulous tour with ample views of truly extraordinary scenery and wildlife. You are immersed in the natural beauty of the Kenai Fjords during most of the time on this cruise. I can't imagine a better way to enjoy this park. Expect to see sea otters, Stellar sea lions, puffins, mew gulls, and humpback whales

The tour was over 8 hours, dinner on Fox Island was very good. We did see glaciers calving, whales, seals, etc. The tour captain was patient and thorough and stayed in locations for all possible sightings._br/_ MY only COMPLAINT---there should be a time limit for standing at the bow of the boat as a courtesy to all passengers---many people parked themselves at the bow and never left---this is one of the best locations for photos. A 20 minute stay/or less would be a courtesy to all on board---we all paid the same amount of money---the trains have signs posted on their viewing cars---either have the captain or crew announce a time swap/or ask for courtesy to move from the bow so others have that some opportunity. Other than that, all was fine. Lunch was good, too. Fox Island buffet was very good, and highly organized.

Wonderful experience. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Be sure to take Bonine or Dramamine and get some ginger ice chips at their store if you are prone to motion sickness. They even baked chocolate chip cookies for everyone on the way back to port. A worthwhile tour for all ages. We saw or as, humpbacks, puffins and more.

The staff were friendly and professional. The naturalist on board the boat was interesting and knowledgeable. Our tour was cut short by the wind and waves, but the staff had our refund waiting for us when we got back. I hope to be able to take the whole tour someday.

We were very pleased with the tour and felt it was worth what we spent. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and we learned a lot about everything we saw: humpback whales, Orca whale, puffins, harbor seals, stellar sea lions, common murres, bald eagles, and my favorite a sea otter who was swimming very close to the vessel. Learning about the landscape fjords, islands, and glaciers was also fascinating. The souvenir booklet we were given at the end of the tour with beautiful photographs and information about the park was a nice surprise and greatly appreciated.
