Private Tour: Anchorage 3-Hour Tour

Anchorage, United States of America

Get a perfect introduction to the greater Anchorage area on this 3-hour tour. Stops include Earthquake Park, Lake Hood Seaplane Base, Beluga Point, Potter's Marsh, and Flattop Mountain. Enjoy the diverse wildlife, visit historical sites, experience scenic views, and shop in downtown Anchorage!

Please note: pricing is per tour, not per guest. Order "1" adult for all ages and group sizes from 1 to 13 guests

This fun 3-hour adventure starts from a pickup location of your choice. First, you'll visit historic Ship Creek where Anchorage was first settled as a tent city in 1911. Here, you'll find a thriving urban salmon stream where downtown anglers often catch salmon on their lunch breaks from work. This is also the location of the Anchorage rail terminal for the historic Alaska Railroad.

Your guide will then take you to Earthquake Park and Point Woronzof, where you can take in the stunning view of the Anchorage skyline set against the backdrop of the Chugach Mountains and Cook Inlet. You may even catch sight of a moose along the roadway! Next, stop at the busiest seaplane base in the world, Lake Hood. Watch as local bush pilots expertly land their planes and taxi to their landing docks. Following this stop, you'll visit the incomparable Turnagain Arm and Beluga Point. Take in the majestic scenery and scout for Beluga whales, Dall sheep, mountain goats, black bears, and bald eagles.

Your journey continues into Potter's Marsh and the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, a protected wildlife habitat home to many migratory species of birds in the summer. Climb the stunning vistas of Flattop Mountain and get a birdseye view of the Municipality of Anchorage (which is larger than Rhode Island!) as well as views of Sleeping Lady, Denali, and the Alaska Range on clear days. As the tour comes to an end, you'll head back downtown where your guide will point out the best restaurants, bars, gift shops, and art galleries before bidding farewell. A perfect introduction to the diverse area that is Anchorage!

Our guide, Dawn, was excellent. We had a great tour. We were celebrating our 60th wedding anniversary, had taken our two daughters, their husbands and grandchildren 9, 11, and 15 on a cruise to Alaska. We wanted to see Anchorage before heading home and Dawn did an outstanding job.

First off, our tour-guide Kristen, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and friendly and she was great with our three year old. Tours with a toddler can be tough potty breaks, boredom, etc and Kristen accommodated for us very well. Regarding the tour, having never been to Anchorage, it sounded pretty exciting... But, Anchorage is actually not that exciting, especially when it's cloudy and rainy, which it was all the day of our tour. Can't control the weather. I very much enjoyed learning the history of Anchorage as well as the contemporary oddities that set it apart from the lower-48. I would recommend the tour. However, since it is a private tour and thus flexible, I'd recommend they offer some alternate points of interest if the stunning vistas are not visible due to weather.

The tour was great and the guide gave a lot of useful information. Only problem was as we were leaving the tour one of the party was confused and did not know that the tour had been paid for in full. The person paid him again in full and the guide did not say anything. Great tour, poor form.

We had a great time with Kristen from Great Land Adventures. There were last minute changes but they handled it like pro's and made me feel like I wasn't a pain but they were there to see that we had a good time. Which we did!! thank you again Steve and Kristen

We loved our Anchorage tour with Kristen - 3 of us are retired teachers, and all 8 of us bonded with her immediately. She managed to take us everywhere on the list and also work in additional photo ops for me at scenes from my high school days. Her lunch recommendation was brilliant, and her sharing of information regarding local history and issues was most welcome. Top marks all around!

We went on this private tour during our short stay in Anchorage before traveling north to Talkeetna, Denali, Healy, Fairbanks and Artic Circle. Loved the tour and the different activities that were included Cook Inlet, Flattop Mountain, Potter Marsh Bird Sanctuary, Lake Hood, Earthquake Park, Resolution Park, Ship Creek, Beluga Point with Turnagain Arm, and Point Woronzorf. I would highly recommend for people staying in Anchorage to take this tour early in your vacation to get an ideal of what you would like to go back and see because we did not stay at anyplace very long. Our driver was excellent and gave us a history of Anchorage and the points of interest he took us to. He even took us to see Star the reindeer.

Bill was an outstanding tour guide in Anchorage. He was personable, flexible, knowledgeable of Anchorage and Alaskan history and culture. As an experienced outdoorsman and athlete he game us a great idea of what Anchorage offers to residents and tourists year round. We toured Earthquake Park, Cook Inlet, The Mud Flatts, Flattop Mountain and saw numerous Dall Sheep. It was a great immersion into Alaska, the last Frontier...as we began a 12 day tour of Alaska and the Yukon. Bill gave our group a great understanding of the area from a local perspective. Thanks Bill, you made the trip!

Our guide, Steve, was terrific. He was very knowledgeable about the area, the history and nature. Always on the lookout for moose or bear or bald eagles, etc to point out however we were not fortunate enough to to get a glimpse of any animals. We were able to see a bald eagle in its nest. Steve was very accommodation to our schedule and picked us up on time as planned. The min-bus was clean and comfortable. I would recommend this tour if you want to get out of Anchcorage downtown area and see more.
