Day 2: Athens with Half-Day Sightseeing Tour and Optional Temple of Poseidon Tour (B)
After a buffet breakfast in your hotel, meet your guide and head out on your 5-hour sightseeing tour that combines the sights of modern Athens with sites of historical importance. Aboard a luxury, air-conditioned coach, listen to commentary from your onboard guide and take in sights of Syntagma Square, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Panathenian Stadium — home of the first modern Olympic Games.

After seeing the highlights of present-day Athens, visit a collection of the city’s historical landmarks. Stop at the Temple of Olympian Zeus for photos, explore the UNESCO-listed Acropolis of Athens by foot, and discover famous monuments such as the Parthenon. Finish by entering Athens Acropolis Museum on your own, and enjoy free time to browse the array of exhibits and artifacts at your leisure. Then, make the most of an afternoon of free time.

Alternatively, upgrade to include an excursion to Cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon. At a prearranged time, simply leave your hotel and travel by coach along the shores of the glorious Attica peninsula. After 1.5 hours on the road, stop at its southernmost tip, Cape Sounion, to ogle the views and visit the Temple of Poseidon. Hear how the site was revered by the Ancient Greeks, English poet Lord Byron and more, and learn about its architecture before returning to your hotel in the early evening.

Enjoy a leisurely final breakfast in your hotel, and then check out in the late morning to finish your experience. Alternatively, make use of a private departure transfer back to Athens International Airport in the early evening.
