Archaia Clauss Winery and the Peloponnese Private Day Trip from Athens

A wonderful private one day excursion from Athens exploring the Peloponnese & ‘Patra’ with a tour of the world renowned Achaia Clauss Winery, the first wine estate to be established in Greece by the Bavarian Gustav Clauss in 1854 and still producing among others the original Mavrodaphne.

Highlights also include travel along the beautiful Peloponnese coastline, a stop at the Corinth Canal, city tour of Patra the regional capital of western Greece & the impressive Rio-Antirio suspension bridge before your return.

From Athens the trip departs towards the Peloponnese along the coast most of the way for approximately 2 hours and passing the famous Corinth canal before reaching Patra where you are guided to the central pedestrianized street and shopping area which is just beside the sea to take in the central sights. From there we take a short trip to the world famous Archaia Clauss Winery set in a beautiful location with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. At the winery we will have the chance to take an extensive tour around the various historic buildings whilst the extensive history of this winery is discussed along with the methods of local wine production. In good weather the tour can also include a walk to the local fields to see the grape varieties on the vine.

Set at a very relaxed pace there is also a sampling of the various wines produced along with your expert guide from the Winery and with plenty of time to walk around the grounds and purchase from the winery shop if desired. Our return passes by the outstanding Rio-Antirio suspension bridge connecting the peninsula with mainland Greece which we leave in the distance as you enjoy the sea views as you discuss the wonderful sites & tastes among friends.
