A shore excursion to the Acropolis is a great way to spend your time in port in Athens. The Syntagma Metro Station, in Syntagma Square where your Acropolis walking tour begins, contains many archaeological artifacts including ancient grave stones, an aqueduct from the 5th century BC, pottery, a 2,000-year-old beehive and a mosaic from the 5th century AD.
As you walk through Syntagma Square, the heart of the city, you’ll see the impressive Greek Parliament House (Old Royal Palace).
Continue strolling through the historical part of the city. A 10-minute walk up the beautiful Dionysiou Areopagitou pedestrian walkway will bring you to the Acropolis, crowned by the Parthenon, with its spectacular views over the city below.

We were in Athens in 11/17 and it was pouring rain. But, our guide was wonderful and after lunch the sun came out and we were able to see Athens.

I should have read this tour better. I was surprised that the price of the tour didn't include the entrance fees52 euros for the two of us that had to be paid in cash at the start of the tour. The tour guide we had was very good, but once we got to the top of the Acropolis, half of the group had purchased a different tour that also went to Acropolis museum. We didn't have that tour so the guide said goodby to use at the top of the Acropolis and we had to make our own way back to the meeting place to get the cabs back to the ship.

It was rushed tour. Not recommended for those who cannot walk fast. It was an ok tour. Will l fo it again with this company? No l will not. Maybe it was the particular tour guide we got that day but this tour was too rushed.

Dorina was a fantastic guide. Incredible knowledge and passion for Athens and her work as a tour guide. She provided detailed insight into each area we visited beginning with the excavation at the train station. She was thoughtful and took bathroom breaks and paced the climb to the top of the Acropolis with breaks to provide historical context and made it easer for a handicapped person in our group. The majority of our small group did not travel on to the museum of the Acropolis afterwards and instead went to Plaka the nearby town, which I highly recommend. Here you will find narrow winding streets of the old town with shops and plenty of tavernas with excellent, authentic Greek food at excelled prices, and great for sitting outside to people watch. An incredible value for the price. Pick and drop off at the ship was effortless. I would highly recommend this tour rather that transporting and purchasing tickets on your own, which we usually do.

One of the best tours we have taken. Walking from Syntagma Square to the top of the Acropolis is not for those who have mobility issues. On the other hand, if you can walk for short stretches, with plenty of breaks, you can do this. Many of the folks on our tour were 70 in age, and were able to complete the hike up and back. The narratives given by our guide, Dori, were very good and helped us understand the city, its parks and monuments, and the attractions of the Acropolis. Highly recommended.

The tour guide was so knowledgeable, yet paced the information, which was shared effectively and in an interesting way. Despite a very hot day, and quite an elevation to the Acropolis, our family of youngish seniors were easily able to get to the top of the Acropolis due to strategic stopping along the way. We appreciated the efforts to avoid other groups during the information sharing, so that it was easy to hear and gave the best viewing opportunities. An amazing historical experience, and well worth the price of the tour!

Knowledgeable guide - Nicholas. He took the time to explain the history of Athens and had great detail of all of the sites visited, just wish we had more time to explore. Traffic is quite heavy in Athens when there is multiple cruise ships docked at the same time in the port

In short, this was a wonderful tour. Our guide, Aristotle yes, really, was an enthusiastic, well-educated. and delightful leader through a few millenia of history, and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. We were glad to have taken this option to a NCL cruise excursion - particularly so once we figured out how much more personal not to mention, affordable our experience was. We were picked up at the boat by a delightful taxi driver, who whisked us well, as much as you can whisk in rush hour Athens traffic from Piraeus into downtown Athens - I can't begin to imagine how long it took those busloads of excursionists to get to the same destination. Dropoff was easy - rendezvous with the Athens Walking Tour folks was fast - and we were confident that we knew when, where, and by whom we would be returned to the the ship. The tour of downtown Athens was compact time-wise but action packed, and a great tease for the climax of the Acropolis and all its wonders. No doubt, the Acropolis was packed, but Aristotle maneuvered us beautifully and slowly, thank goodness, for the older folks up the hill to the wonders above.

This was the best tour of all the tours we took in a 3 week cruise of the Mediterranean. We were picked up at the cruise terminal and taken downtown where we met our guide. We then began to walk to all of the major points of interest downtown and our guide covered all of the main cultural and historic information with just the right amount of infoat least for us--not too much or too little. We then walked the the top of the Acropolis to explore the Parthenon. The tour was culminated by a visit to the Acropolis Museum which is one of the finest museums we have ever seen. Our guide was delightful. Great command of English,very professional and full of energy._br/_ Can't say enough about this experience.

Guide was very informative and loved walking through the area and not just riding and viewing on bus. Just be aware that the walk up to the acropolis is on rocky paths and is a rather long and step grade.

If you're comfortable walking all day on various terrain and you enjoy learning about ancient history, this tour is for you. The Acropolis is a must see. My husband and I learned a lot about Greece, but at some point we felt antsy to leave as we only had the day to explore Athens. We loved roaming around the Athens area afterwards where there's plenty of shops and cafes.

The tour guide was nice enough, however it was too much like a history lesson. It was a super hot day and as we were walking up the hill towards the Acropolis we stopped about every 10meters or so to point out that type of tree or whatever, it just dragged it out and on a hot day we just wanted to get to the top and take some pictures, we abandoned the tour when we reached the Acropolis and just looked around on our own. I wasn't aware that there was a city walking tour as part of the tour, and before we went to the Acropolis we walked around the citywaste of time and then had to pay 6 to get into the Temple of Zeus which is only a few pillars that you can see clearly from its fence line, and a better view of it from the Acropolis! So save your money and just see it from the top. I wouldn't book this tour I'd chance doing it on my own, just buying the ticket to get into the Acropolis which is worth a visit.

To climb to the Acropolis and Parthenon is a MUST do. Our tour guide, Nikos, was very informative also made the walk easier by stopping in the shade to talk. The Athens Shore Excursion and the Acropolis Walking tour with Kostas Kastellalcis, our tour guide, was amazing. We enjoyed his clear explanations and all his stories. Kostas was very knowledgeable and he answered all the questions that the group had. Worthy to note is that we expected to be picked-up by a van but we were nicely surprised when a driver very polite and courteous man came to pick us up in a car just for us. I highly recommend this tour and Kostas, our tour guide.

I loved this tour. A taxi picked us up at the cruise terminal, and took us to an entry to the subway. Then he explained exactly where he would pick us up to take us back to Piraeus. Once underground, right under the clock, a bunch of people start gathering. Everything was very organized, we were split into small groups and off we went with our small group and very knowledgeable guide. We visited several sights on our way to the Acropolis. I was surprised to see many people not knowing what they were getting into: this is summer, 90 degree F temperature, and you are going to CLIMB all the way to the top of the highest hill in Athens. No, there are no lifts, it is rocky, uneven, slippery, and NO the group cannot wait for you. I was sad to see some people left behind at different points, some very close to the Parthenon, but they simply couldn't make it.

Our favorite tour of our whole trip! The history of the tour and the lunch was one of the best of our entire trip. This is a must do if you are in Turkey. Emory was an AMAZING guide and made our visit such a wonderful experience. Emory is a gem and I would do tour this again.

When we arrived to the Port of Athens our English speaking driver was waiting for us with a sign. Our driver was great and told us about everything we passed on our way to meet our tour. We were dropped off at the metro station where we met our tour guide Kostas. We began our tour in the metro station as it is a museum as well. From there we went to the Parliament building where we got to see the change of guards. Then we walked through the national park which led us to Zeus' Temple. It was pretty hot so my grandmother bought a hat to block the sun. We were lucky it was a very nice day but it was pretty hot. water bottle is a must After we walked up to the Acropolis, which was a pretty long way up. It was a lot higher and much more tiring than I thought. If it is raining or wet do not go up to Acropolis as it is slippery when it is not wet but when it is wet it is extremely slippery and dangerous.

Very good tour guide, but an overload of information. So much detail that at some point you stop listening. Be prepared for a lot of walking. Would have liked to have been escorted by guide at end of tour to the start point for the Acropolis rather than being left on top to find own way back.

First off let me say this was my 6th tour excursions and the 1st in a large group. The lady met us at the port where we all got onto a tour bus. She did not talk much during the ride over compared to my other tours nor did she say welcome to Athens. I think she was a bit busy trying to sell the tickets for the Acropolis as the admission fees are not included in the tour. Given our group was large we were broken up into 3 groups of 12 people.
