Walking Tour of Mount Lycabettus

Athens, Greece

A green protrusion that towers above the Athenian cityscape, Mount Lycabettus is one of the city’s most stunning natural features. On this adventurous, 3-hour walking tour, strap on your most comfortable shoes and set out to conquer its heights. As you climb, your guide will school you in the mountain’s unique mythological lore; after you’ve summited the peak, you’ll also have the chance to stroll around some of Athens’ most traditional districts.

At either 9am, 10am, 3pm, 5pm, or 7pm, meet your guide at Evangelismos Metro Station and embark on a 3-hour walking tour of Mount Lycabettus and the surrounding vicinity.

Towering above the Athenian cityscape, Mount Lycabettus has an important presence in Greek mythology. Supposedly, the Goddess Athena created the hill by accident when she dropped a limestone mountain; Mount Lycabettus was also said to be home to wolves. Today, it offers up one of the best views overlooking the city, and also has a stunning amphitheater at its summit, which hosts musical performances and other events.

Listen to the stories about the mountain as you embark on this climb; your effort will be rewarded by a beautiful view of the city. Once you’ve seen Mount Lycabettus for yourself, the tour will continue with a walk around some of Athens’ nearby, traditional districts.
