Classical Greece: 4-days tour with Meteora from Athens

Athens, Greece

1st DAY: Depart from Athens for the Corinth canal (short stop). Drive to Epidaurus and visit the Ancient theatre, world famous for its outstanding acoustics. Proceed to Nauplia (short stop) and through the plain of Argos arrive to Myceane. Visit the archaeological site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. In the afternoon (optional stop for souvenirs) depart for Olympia, the birth place of the Olympic Games. Overnight stay in Olympia at centrally located town hotels. Arty Grand Hotel 4* or Antonios Hotel 3* based to your choice.

2nd DAY: Visit the archaeological site with the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the altar of the Olympic flame, the Stadium and the archaeological Museum. Depart via PATRAS (short stop) to RION, cross the Corinthian bay by the bridge to ANTIRION. Pass by the city of Nafpakros and from there on, along the coastal road to Delphi, known in ancient times as the navel of the world. In the afternoon visit the picturesque mountain village of Arachova. Overnight stay in Delphi at centrally located town hotels. Apollonia 4* or Delphi Palace Hotel 3* based to your choice.

3rd DAY: Visit the archaeological site, and, the Museum of Delphi. Depart for Kalambaka via Central Greece (short stop by Lamia). Overnight stay in Kalambaka (a small town built at the foot of the majestic grey rocks and crowned by the Meteora Monasteries). Overnight stay in Kalambaka at centrally located town hotels. Divani Kalambaka 4* or Orfeas Hotel 3* based to your choice.

4th DAY: Leave in the morning for nearby Meteora to visit the BYZANTINE MONASTERIES. Return to Athens passing the heroic monument of Leonidas of Sparta at Thermopylae.

We had a fantastic time with Irene, our well-informed and gracious guide. The upgraded hotel accomodations were excellent, the food was good, and the itinerary was just what we wanted. We often tour on our own, but we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on a coach bus and enjoying the scenery and a few naps between sights.

I definitely recommend this tour. In 4 days we saw amazing sights. It was fast paced and also a very efficient use of the time. A traveler should be fit to hike. This would be very difficult for someone that is unsteady on their feet. The bus was comfortable, hotels very nice, food great and Anna our tour guide was amazing. I was traveling with my 16 yr old granddaughter and she loved it as much as I did._br/_ Like all trips, time is important. This tour is exceptional value for a truly priceless experience.

A must for anyone visiting Greece. Had no idea how large Olympia was. Meteora was the star for us. Absolutely astounding! Not driving ourselves allowed my husband to enjoy the scenery.
