Corinth Half-Day Trip from Athens

Athens, Greece

Got the morning free in Athens? Then why not take a relaxing tour to ancient Corinth? You'll tour Corinth's fascinating archaeological site and have breathtaking views of Corinth Canal and the Saronic Gulf.

Starting from Athens, you will drive westwards along the scenic coast to the amazing Corinth Canal. On the drive past the beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza you'll see countless coves lapped by crystal-clear azure waters.

You will spend 90 minutes at the archaeological site of ancient Corinth, where you can enjoy splendid views of the Saronic Gulf.

The ancient town of Corinth was built at the meeting point of southern and northern Greece. In Greek mythology it was where Jason and Medea lived, and it was the city where St. Paul lived and preached for two years.

On the drive back to Athens you'll enjoy a short stop at Kehreai.

We very much enjoyed this tour, and it included even more than we expected. Vicki was an upbeat, friendly and excellent guide who was extremely knowledgeable about Greek history and culture. We were pleased to be able to stop at the Corinthian Canal on our way to the ancient Corinth ruins, and we especially appreciated Vicki's understanding of the biblical events that happened in Corinth and the surrounding area. Great experience! Glad we decided to do it!

It was well organised. They picked us up at the hotel as promised, took us to the port. If your group is large and if you do not arrive early it is difficult to find seats for everybody. There is lots to see and do. You can book tours in the boat for the first and third islands. Live entertainment on board. Very long day but worth it.

It was very rushed. We only had 30 minutes on our own to explore both the site and museum. Also, there was not much history or background provided. Other tours were overheard that went into the Biblical history of the site, while ours had none of that. On the way back the tour guide talked about how bad the economic situation was in Greece. Depressing. Would have been better just to drive alone, take my time, or hire someone that actually provided useful historical background.

Our tour guide was awesome. As a history buff, she kept us interested and kept us moving. Good half day trip and plenty of time for other things in the afternoon.

The CHAT Tour company made it very easy to meet them at a convenient spot near my hotel. They walked us to our tour bus. The tour guide did a great job giving us history of the surrounding area as we drove to Corinth. This was a fantastic tour and a must if you have the time while in Athens.

This was a well organised and very good way to get to an amazing site. Our guide was good and very knowledgeable. The site itself includes an interesting museum. We also stopped off to see the Corinth Canal.

Too much time in the bus. Would have been nice to have a 2nd stop for just a short break

I would recommend just driving to Corinth on your own. The tour guide added nothing to the experience - I even knew more from my trip thirty years ago then the tour guide shared. The only advantage to these tours is to beat the line, and in Corinth in October there was no line. But if you do not have a car, then it might be worth the bus ride.

I enjoyed this tour because it gave interesting information about the major archeological buildings of ancient Corinth. The guide was very knowledgeable and the group was small (18 people).

We had a GREAT tour of ancient Corinth. Only thing I would have liked for us to do is to stop, get out of the bus and view the canal for better pictures of it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job! Thanks, Viator!!

The tour is just the right length and the guide was outstanding. The bus is very comfortable. Only suggestion is to have participants travel on their own to a central pickup/departure location, such as a hotel. Providing connecting bus service is a nice feature, but it just takes far too long to get started and back to your hotel - in our case, it probably added two hours to the overall time.

Another highly recommended tour from Viator for those interested in this historic and ancient city. The tour was well run by the service provider CHAT Tours whose tour office was the lobby of the Amalia Hotel where we stayed. The tour guide was were good and very informative about the Biblical connections and history of this ancient city cite. Well worth the coach trip from Athens.

Very well organized tour. About an hour and 1/2 drive from Athens. Bathroom break provided mid-way through. The guide was well informed providing historical information on the drive and while on location. The site is not as spectacular as others, but amazing to see nonetheless.

Beautiful drive to see the Corinth Canal and the ruins at Corinth. Our guide was wonderful, she really knew all the facts and details, funny too! The half day tour was nice if you have been on the go every day, because this gets you back early afternoon. Not such a long day.

We were disappointed how few things there are to see in Corinth. Much has been destroyed. Also I would have rather been with a Christian guide in order to learn more fro a Bible background.

Corinth was lovely but extremely hot. There is little to no shade compared to some of the other locations, so bring a hat or umbrella. There's is a lot to be learned here but there's very little still intact. It was a nice addition to see the cruise ships going through the strait of Corinth.

there was horrible traffic so it took 2.5 hours from the moment we boarded the bus and drove around athens picking up others to getting on site. We needed more time on site. maybe leave a little later in the morning? paid a lot of money to be on a bus :-

Review by:   Helen H,    June 2015 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
Lots of time on the bus for a quick stop at the canal and fairly unimpressive ruins. Would have been great to visit the citadel high above the site but that was not part of the tour.

we had a great time. Our tour guild Alice knew her stuff and the Bus driver george was a drving marvel, navigating the traffiec, remaining calm, and getting us to our destinations safety and on time. The Old area of Corinth was breath taking. All of that history!! it truely was amazing. Thank you. I am already recommending this trip to my friends and co-workers.
