Queen's Tower and Wine Tasting Half-Day Tour from Athens

Spend a wonderful afternoon with this tour and enjoy a visit to the Queen’s Tower, an outstanding monument that brings back images from the last century and the history of the Royal family of Greece. There you will have the change to taste local wines as well.

Our tour starts with a panoramic tour passing by the Greek Parliament, the first Royal Palace of modern Greece and the Presidential Mansion. Then we will drive to the Queen's Tower, a former royal estate located west of Athens. 

In 1848 Queen Amalia, was enchanted by the area during one of her strolls and convinced King Otto to purchase it and turn it into a farm. The charismatic natural beauty of the area promotes the majestic villa that stands in its heart.

The esthetic outcome of the external form of the Tower, the internal frescoes and the disposition give the sense that it is duplicate of Hohenschwangau Castle, the tower where King Otto was born in Bavaria. Despite the difference in size, the two buildings share numerous similarities.

Today, the estate activities are still at the level of a model rural farm. You will visit the horse stables where many equestrian champion horses do their practice, the old stone farm buildings and the Queen’s tower. You will have also the opportunity to taste the wine the estate still produce after seeing the enormous oaken barrels for the aging and maturation of the wine and the bottling accessories which are preserved until this very day.
