Wine Roads of the Peloponnese Private Winery Tour plus Ancient Corinth from Athens

Athens, Greece

An ideal full day trip from Athens pairing a visit and tour of the award-winning Nemea winery and vineyards in the Peloponnese countryside with the site of Ancient Corinth, City of Greek & Roman antiquity.

A private tour exclusive to your group allowing flexibility, your English-speaking driver will take full and special care of you during you trip and provide all the ancient and modern context along the way to help you make the most of the places you will visit to provide you with one of the most outstanding experiences of time in Greece.

After pickup at your hotel & short briefing on the day & to assess any preferences and needs you may have, you will travel towards the Corinth Canal and into the Peloponnese to the Nemean region where viticulture has been recorded for over 2000 years, and an area full of ancient settlements such as the bronze age Mycinae only a short distance away. After traveling through the hills & olive groves of this beautiful countryside we find the Nemea winery and join one of the skilled Oenologists for a one & a half hour tour of the winery and underground cellars learning about the procedures of wine making, the local varieties and especially the native red grape variety "Agiorgitiko' on which most production is based. After your tour, enjoy an informative a tasting of the various wines including the labels Nemea Grande Reserve, Nemea Reserve, Nemea, Nemea Special and others.

After thanking our hosts at the winery we travel once more through the local hills & groves for 33 km to ancient Corinth where you can enjoy lunch alongside the Roman remains of ancient shops & streets under the shadow of the Temple of Apollo before exploring this extensive site where once St. Paul spoke. Ancient Corinth was one of the largest and most important cities of Ancient Greece with a population of 90,000 in 400 BC, the rival of Athens in wealth, and significant in Biblical times also as the Roman provincial capital of Greece. Amazingly, you wander its streets and see the remains of its temples, workshops & markets, walking in the very footsteps of the ancients spending all the time you need to enjoy & contemplate this magnificent site before your return.

A private tour exclusive to your group allowing flexibility, your English-speaking driver will take full and special care of you during you trip and provide all the ancient & modern context along the way to help you make the most of your visit. Your tour driver can not accompany you into the archeological site at Corinth but for those requiring an accompanied tour of the ruins we collaborate with a select number of licensed on-site professional guides and can provide these on request.
