Take in all the highlights of Auckland on a half-day city tour. See the yachts bobbing in the harbor, heritage listed buildings and parkland that offer stunning panoramic views over the city. Enjoy morning tea at the quaint village of Parnell, travel through Auckland Domain and cross the Harbor Bridge to the north shore. The city tour starts in the morning, leaving the afternoon free to relax or to combine with other great attractions. Choose from wine tasting, lunch on the Pride of Auckland yacht, museum and cultural performances, and much more!
The tour begins with a short trip over the Harbour Bridge to the North Shore before returning to the central city to visit Queen Street and the Auckland Viaduct.
Next we travel through the city’s oldest park, the Auckland Domain, which is situated on an ancient volcano. Stop in the quaint village of Parnell for morning tea stop and wander around the historic buildings many of which have been transformed into fashionable boutiques, antique, craft and specialty shops.
End your tour by taking the scenic waterfront route of Tamaki Drive to the Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park, in Mission Bay. Here you will see a memorial to the first Labour Prime Minister of New Zealand and the founder of the welfare state. The park has panoramic views over Whenua Rangatira, Auckland city and Waitemata Harbour and is great for photo opportunities.
This mornings tour is also available with the following options:
Kelly Tarlton's Experience King and Gentoo Penguins then travel through the Underwater World and come face-to-face with giant stingrays and ferocious sharks! Devonport Ferry Venture across Auckland's beautiful harbour and immerse yourself in Devonport's unique heritage, wide range of restaurants, cafes, beaches, art galleries and shopping.
Fullers Harbour Cruise Escape the city and cruise the sparkling waters of Auckland's beautiful harbour. Highlights include historic Devonport, the harbour bridge and the NZ Naval base.
Maori Cultural Performance and Museum Visit the Auckland War Memorial Museum and enjoy a cultural performance from local Maori performers.
Sky Tower At 328m in height, Sky Tower is the tallest free standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere. Take in the 360 degree views from the top!
Pride of Auckland Sailing Cruise with Lunch Sit back and relax or try your hand at sailing on the peaceful waters of the Waitemata Harbour. Take in the sights and sounds of the City of Sails from onboard this purpose built sailboat as we cruise the sheltered waters. A delicious picnic lunch box is included.
Wine on Waiheke - November to March An unforgettable guided tour of three premier wineries - Mudbrick, The Goldie Room and Te Whau. Taste the many varieties of gorgeous wines and take-in outstanding panoramic views of front the city skyline to the Hauraki Gulf. You must be over 18 year of age to participate
We chose this tour for an overview of the city of Auckland since we only had one day to see the sights before embarking on our cruise. We were glad that we added the visit to the War Memorial Museum to the basic tour. The museum provided many interesting exhibits about history and about the Maori culture, including an entertaining and educational Maori performance.

Great way to see the city and learn about the culture. Tour guide was great and let us stop to take great pictures.

Though it was a fairly good overview of Auckland, the tour was too short to get a good idea of what Auckland had to offer.

The driver was quite rude. Much navy stuff.

Didn't have a chance to stop at any of the places on the tour. While we went over the bridge but didn't stop - just drove over and took the ramps to immediate to back in the other direction. At the one stop where there was some time, there really wasn't anything to do except find a place to have a coffee which wasn't what we wanted to do.

This day was not what was expected, again we were rushed 1/2 hour late from start time then we were very busy picking up people and dropping them off at their connecting tours more than we were being taken on a sight seeing mission. The University Tour is a better name for this tour, our morning tea stop was so short barely had time to drink the coffee we ordered. One stop Port side, which let us stretch our legs for what? - there was nothing to really see there. Then off we went again for a whirlwind bus trip, dropping off people to their next connecting tour.....

Tour was very good but the tour company needs to take into consideration where we were located and that we were not familiar with the area and choose a closer meeting point.

We found our driver very informative, he took the time to explain the history of Auckland in detail and answer any questions we had about the town and New Zealand in general.

the tour guide and tour were great, but the bus did not have a functional air conditioner. it was very uncomfortable while in the bus.

We were picked up on time and did not have to transfer to a large bus, that was it! The driver was very good. He took us around little known areas and it was very interesting. Parnell Street was a loser...everything was closed, no shops to speak of, no time to actually sit down and have a snack._br/_
We were dropped at the pier, easily caught the ferry, and the bus was right there to greet us. The wineries were okay...after Tuscany, they were a let down, but okay. The ferry back was also easy...but there was not the promised return to the hotel. We were close so it did not matter, but others complained._br/_
It was a good all around day. I highly suggest it especially if you have a difficult time getting around!

Although there were only a few guests on this trip our tour guide, Megan, gave us the full treatment and made the whole experience very friendly and personal. There was plenty of time for photos, some leisure time for coffee and shopping and lots of vantage points for sightseeing. Megan's commentary was informative and fun.

Great tour of Auckland. The bus was good and clean, the driver was a 'character' and was friendly and knowledgable. We saw many different aspects of the city and it is worth the time.

Short and insightful tour with a very knowledgeable guide
Review by: A. Russell O, April 2013
The tour guide was mediocre which downgraded this tour to three stars from four. Auckland is a big city with few "key" sites. There is a long bridge, parks, monuments...the usual things you see in a city of a milion plus people. The Space Needle could be seen from several places the bus stopped for photographs, but you need to go on your own to get the vista of the city it provides. The tour did not include Devonport, a neat little craftsy area across the bay that sits below the extinct volcano Mt. Victoria.

When booking the tour, I had arranged with the agent to be picked up at the Hilton as we were coming in on a early am flight and planned to have breakfast there. However, after we were not picked up at the allotted time, the Hilton front desk called the tour office for us and it seems that since we were not registered in the hotel our pickup was cancelled! Fortunately, there was enough time for us to take a taxi to the main office to catch the 9:30 tour which all in all was a good one.

Good overview of the entire city of Auckland....all parts. I would recommend addiing the aquarium to the tour as we did since the aquarium is very unique with its focus on the seas of Antarctica. The Penguin Encounter was very well done along with the recreations of the base camps of the explorers.

A great way to see the city in limited time. Saw all of the main sights and we took the opportunity to add on a trip to Kelly Tarlton's which was amazing. We ended up having coffee at Mission Bay rather than Parnell, but it was a nicer location as it was by the sea.

I totally enjoyed listening to the driver/tour guide - Peter was fantastic! I wish the trip to the island would be much longer as the boat ride was longer than the island stay (was just there to have a quick pee).
Over-all I enjoyed it and would confidently recommend a 4.5 rating. Cheers!
