Enjoy this private tour for you and your family or friends. Enjoy this Piha and Waitakere day trip. Just 30-mins from the hustle and bustle of Auckland’s CBD lies the undiscovered West Coast. Rugged cliffs plunge into crashing surf, black sand beaches sparkle, and native bird calls are swallowed by dense rainforest. You will discover subtropical bush, hidden waterfalls, see stunning panoramic views of the city and Waitakere Ranges, learn about Maori culture at the Arataki Visitor Centre, and enjoy with a delicious, fresh lunch at the Piha Cafe.

You will be picked up in the morning from your central Auckland accommodation by your Elements Guide in comfortable transport. Times will be confirmed upon booking. From the city, it is an easy 30-minute drive to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park.

The first stop is at the Arataki Visitor Centre, where you will see spectacular views of Auckland City and two harbours. You will have the chance to discover and learn about Maori carvings and traditions, see native bush and wildlife such as the Kauri tree and the weta at this charming museum nestled in the Waitakere Ranges.

You will then delve deeper into lush New Zealand bush, where a fairly easy walk will bring you to one of Piha’s cascading waterfalls. If you want to, you have the chance to swim in the freshwater pools and see native wildlife such as long fin eels, keruru and pokeku.

You will be provided with light refreshments mid-morning.

Finally, you will enjoy some free time at Piha’s famous black sand beach. Watch the crashing surf, go for a walk up famous Lion Rock, paddle in the shallows or ask your Elements Guide for some more local walks with stunning coastal views.

During your time in Piha, lunch will be on us, we will provide a tasty and healthy local lunch.

We return to Auckland CBD mid-afternoon, and will drop you back to your accommodation.
