Our driver was great, he was full of just enough information to keep the drive interesting, and a very nice man that has lived a very interesting life. The guide at Hobbiton was also fantastic, she made the tour so fun and brought our small group from around the world to feel as a tight knit group of friends through her conversation with us. Just a suggestion to others considering doing the tour: bring allergy medicine if you suffer from hayfever. There are a lot of various pollens, and while I havent had to take allergy medicine for years, I was very impacted by and was physically miserable while in such a beautiful place with such nice people.

Keith our driver-guide made the drive very enjoyable with all his knowledge of the country we traveled through very beautiful and the Hobbiton area. Highly recommend this Bush and Beach tour group and this small group tour in particular.

The set is great and the Beach and Bush driver Viator contracts this out to local firms was entertaining and very informative. The actual tour is conducted by Hobbiton personnel and she was knowledgeable but not as good as the driver. Trying to contact Viator to confirm the booking while in NZ took a real effort and four calls from the concierge at the hotel to find out which tour company was actually conducting the trip.

We were able to take more and better photos since there was a small group of us. We were given a good and healthy lunch and ginger beer to have. Best ginger beer in my entire life! _br/_ Views were spectacular!

If you are in Auckland and is a fan of J.R.R Tolkien, then you should really try to get out to where the Hobbit was filmed. We enjoyed having drinks at the Green Dragon Inn and seeing the hobbit house and trees. Our guide was delightful in giving us his opinions on what was going on in New Zealand during the drive there.

We went on the Small-Group Tour: The Lord of the Rings Hobbiton Movie Set Tour from Auckland and thought it was really good! Scenery both during the drive and on location was beautiful and the tour has been very informative. Went with my husband and both my parents who aren't exactly fans of the movie but we all enjoyed the tour just the same. We thought the tour was a bit rushed but we appreciated having more time to go around the city when we got back.

Fantastic tour._br/_ We were the only people in the bus that day and it felt like an individual tour. Our guide was happy to fill us in about anything to do with New Zealand so we learnt a lot about local politics, history and Hobbiton. He even dropped as off at Aukland museum at the end of the tour so we could make good use of our last couple of hours in the city._br/_ Hobbiton itself was everything we hoped it would be and the attention to detail in the pub and the whole site was to a very high standard._br/_ We would highly recommend our guide and the tour in general

The Lord of the Rings Movie Set Tour was amazing. Our Tour Guide Alexander, was very knowledgable as well as a very careful driver. Our Tour group was small with only 10 people. It felt that we were given a more individual tour as compared with being on a the larger bus group._br/_ The drive to the Hobbiton was very beautiful once we got out of the Auckland. We were able to drive through back roads that larger buses are not able to use as they have to stick to the Highway. The countryside was stunning. The Movie Set of Middle Earth was larger and more spectacular than I had imagined. Peter Jackson's attention to detail is unbelievable. Our local Tour Guide was very entertaining,and extremely well informed about the history and filming of the the movies. We were told which sets were shown in the particular Lord of the Rings Trilogy or The Hobbit movies. I have been inspired to rewatch all of the movies. We were given a complimentary drink in The Green Dragon Inn and then a delicious complimentary lunch afterwards at The Green Dragon marquee . The day was pretty fast paced but well worth doing. I would strongly recommend this Tour to Tolkien's fans and anyone who has an appreciation and interest in going behind the scenes of a movie set. It was a magical day.

We had an unforgettable experience on a perfect winter's day. The small group tour was definitely worth it, as the small coach was very comfortable and we only had 10 people in total on our tour. We arrived at Hobbiton quite early and avoided the crowds - by the time we'd finished the 45 min tour of the film set, the crowds had already doubled, even at the end of June. Lunch at the Green Dragon was great -_br/_ so much food and dessert - you definitely won't go hungry! The driving time was only around 2.5 hrs each way, which was broken up with a stop half way each time for coffee/toilets.

We were picked up at our Auckland Hotel at 7.40am by our very friendly Coach Driver for our Journey to Hobbiton. It was quiet a long Journey but some lovely sights along the way and a stop for a break and morning tea about halfway. The movie set tour was amazing and the supplied lunch was great. Starting early we beat the crowds and we were back in Auckland by 3.30pm.

Great way to see Hobbiton. Small tour allows for more interaction and ability to take in all that the Movie Set has to offer. With a small group we were able to share and see each stop easily without the challenge larger bus groups present. Our guides were very knowledgeable and accomodating.

SO glad we chose this tour!! The group was small about 12 so the experience was much more personal. I felt like we had more opportunity and time to explore. The farm is beautiful on it's own, add to that the Hobbit holes and you can't deny the charm! Really appreciated the early morning pickup from our hotel as well as drop off at the end of the tour. Lunch was also great...plenty of delicious foods and treats to choose from at the buffet. Overall, a very special day that we will never forget! HIGHLY recommend!!

What a wonderful experience and the fulfillment of a dream for us. Our driver Mike was first class, friendly and knowledgeable. The tour of Hobbiton was conducted by a different guide but Mike stayed with us. The provided lunch was way better than we expected. It was a very nice buffet. The only issue was that one couple brought an infant with them who yelled and screamed for much of the day. I would suggest that this be discouraged since the child was way too young for this type of tour. However, all in all, this tour was the highlight of our brief visit to Auckland.

Delightful trip to Hobbiton and our driver, Mike was a great source of information about NZ esp. Sites along the route to Matamata. Nice rest stop between and enough time to stretch the legs, have a bite to eat. Once at Hobbiton, Mike also filled us in on little side stories about the farmer, the land, movie tidbits etc.which rounded out the tour. Being in a small group was a plus. We got to know our fellow travelers. The early morning pick up time was well,worth it and we enjoyed it very much as Hobbiton is a magical place.

This is a fabulous tour. Small group - even with a couple of vans there were only about 15 people. The driver was friendly and extremely knowledgable about New Zealand. You get great commentary on the way to and from. Once on-site, again you stay with your small group. The tour guides at Hobbiton are again very knowledgable about Tolkien, Jackson, the set itself and the property on which it's built. For those of you who don't like tacky, you are in luck. This is done very nicely. You are on the outdoor set for the Hobbit movies no indoor sets but seeing the setting, the details of the set, etc is amazing. You'll be pleased at how uncommercial this is.

Fabulous! We enjoyed both our tour bus driver and the Hobbiton tour guide. Very articulate and gave us some inside information on the making of the movie there. We only had 17 in the group, and that was perfect. Other tour groups had 30 or 40. We were able to stop for photos. What a beautiful and magical place. Peter Jackson was a genius! We ended the day at the replica of the Green Dragon and had a beer before going to our delicious lunch. I would do this again. So worth it!

This tour needs to be a 10 . We had beautiful weather, a great guide, plus they went the extra mile and had a golf cart for us because we have mobility issues. The flowers are like a well groomed garden, the food was excellent, I have nothing but praise for this tour

I really liked the tour and it felt like a group of friends on an outing because of the small group. Our driver, Mike, was really knowledgeable in all things Kiwi. He made commentaries on our way to Hobbiton, pointing out the history of certain places. When we got to Hobbiton, tour guide David made it more fun, despite the on/off rains. He had a lot of trivia questions which made you rethink of the books and the movies and sharing some secrets on movie effects . The stop at the Green Dragon was really nice: ginger beer and a fireplace! Lunch at the end of the tour was really filling. I'd recommend this tour to those who loved the movies and want to experience being part of Hobbiton. :

This trip was AMAZING!!! My husband and I went on this tour on the 4th October 2016. The guide for the trip down from Auckland was great and provided us with many interesting facts about the Auckland area and the Maroi culture. You also get picked up from your hotel which was very convenient. We only had 13 people on our tour at Hobbiton while most other tours running at the same time had 45 people so we definitely felt like we got a more in depth experience. Would highly recommend to any Lord of the Rings fans.

This was such a fun tour having the opportunity to visit the set of the Hobbit/LOTR! We highly recommend it and plan on returning when in New Zealand again! The only downside was that the tour of the actual location seemed short and somewhat rushed. We wished we would have had more time to just explore the little village. Also, if this is your first stop on a LOTR itinerary, make sure to pick up as many souvenirs here as you can! This was where we found the most options at the best prices!
