Private Guided Walking Tour Through the Vines of Chateauneuf du Pape from Avignon

You will be picked up from your hotel in Avignon by private vehicle and driven for around 30 minutes to the village of Châteauneuf du Pape which is one of the most prestigious wine-making villages in the Rhône Valley. From the ruins of the medieval castle that crowns the village you'll have excellent views of the surrounding mountains, the Rhône river and the sea of vines which covers the hills.

You'll leave the village by foot, walking on the farming tracks between the celebrated vines of Grenache and Syrah, leading through rolling terrain from one estate to another. Along the way learn all about the history of wine-making in the region as well as stop in for a wine-tasting. You'll enjoy a picnic in the vines (picnic lunch not included). After the walk is complete you'll be driven back to your hotel in Avignon.

You will be picked up at 9am by your guide from your hotel in Avignon and taken by private vehicle to the village of Châteauneuf du Pape where you will begin the guided walk. You will first visit the castle ruins that crown the village. From the village you'll walk along farming tracks through the vines from one estate to another.

Along the way you'll stop for a wine-tasting in one of the village's prestigious estates. You'll need to pack a picnic lunch (own expense) so that you can find a secluded spot in the vines to enjoy a leisurely lunch, far from the tourist crowds with your guide. After lunch you will return to Châteauneuf du Pape by foot. The walk is 7km in length with about 2 hours total in walking time on somewhat rocky tracks. At the end of the day you will be driven back to your hotel in Avignon, arriving back around 5pm.
