Delve into rural France and discover stunning scenery and Roman history on this half-day trip through Provence from Avignon. Travel along the Gardon River to the UNESCOlisted Pont du Gard Aqueduct. Explore the cobbled streets of Les Baux de Provence with your guide and admire top attractions like St Vincent Church, the Museum of Santons and the Hotel des Porcelets. Discover the village of Gordes and enjoy panoramic views over the Provençal countryside. Upgrade your tour to visit Roussillon, a village nestled deep in the Luberon regional park.

Meet your guide and hop into your air-conditioned minivan at your hotel in Avignon, then travel out of the city deep into the rural heart of Provence. With outstanding natural beauty, fascinating history and vibrant culture to discover, Provence is widely considered among France’s biggest draws.

Visit the Pont du Gard, a UNESCO World Heritagelisted Roman aqueduct dating back to the 1st century. Spanning the mighty Gardon River, the Pont du Gard is widely considered among the finest pieces of Roman architecture in Europe.

Continue on to Les Baux de Provence — a fortified hilltop village set upon a rocky limestone outcrop 804 feet (245 meters) high. Follow your guide along winding cobbled streets to top attractions like the Museum of Santons, the Hotel des Porcelets and St Vincent Church, and admire the village’s many beautiful 16th-century houses. Take in panoramic views over nearby villages such as Gordes and Luberon from a vantage point on the high hillside.

Head on to the tiered village of Gordes, constructed in dry stone and considered by many to be among the most beautiful villages in France. Enjoy spectacular views over the Sorgue River and the 11th-century castle, and listen as your guide talks of the village’s fascinating past.

Upgrade your tour and continue on to Roussillon, famous for the attractive ochre color in the clay surrounding the village. Drive out through the Luberon regional park, known for its beautiful countryside and picturesque villages.

When it’s time to depart Rousillon, hop back aboard your minivan for the return journey to your hotel in Avignon, where your tour of Provence will come to an end.

My mom and I enjoyed our afternoon exploring Provence on this tour with our knowledgeable and friendly guide. The tour was structured such that our guide would give us an introduction to each sight or village on the drive, then leave us free to explore each place on our own with clear instructions on when and where to meet up later. We visited Pont du Gard, Les Baux de Provence, and Roussillon. The tour was supposed to include a stop in Gordes as well, but since we hit a bit of traffic en route, our group collectively decided to limit Gordes to a drive-by so we could spend more time in Roussillon.

Loved, loved this tour. Our French local guide was very personable and spoke excellent English so nothing was lost on us in his very informative commentary. Highly recommend to anyone travelling into Provence.

We visited many interesting sights during this trip and our guide Jeremy was excellent. He gave us adequate time to properly view places like Pont Du Gard and Rousillon, he gave us plenty of information about the places we were visiting, and his driving was very good. Although the trip was not cheap for an afternoon one, I felt that overall it was good value for money as we saw many fascinating places in Provence that we would have found it difficult or even impossible to reach from Avignon by public transport. Only slight downside for me, as a tall person sitting in the back seat, was that the vehicle had quite a low roof for a mini-bus which my head was almost touching, and I couldnt see as much out of the windows as I would have liked. Also, although not the companys fault, an elderly American tourist who I was sitting alongside at the back somehow went missing in Rousillon, and after spending an extra hour trying to find him, we eventually had to leave without him. As a result, the last part of the tour was in poor light. Can Viator shed any light on whether this gentleman eventually turned up safe and sound?

we had a wonderful guide who fid his best to acommodate all our requests. Even drove the Grand Prix track again in order for me to film for my dad. He took a beautiful scenic drive back to Nice and we could not have asked for more. Thank you so much!! Tania ( south africa)

Wonderful tour! Our guide, Marc, was very nice and had much knowledge of the area, and he made the tour very pleasant. I loved this tour. Highly recommended. Pont du Gard was a must-see. Gordes, Rousillion, and Les Baux are great places to visit, even though it was for a very short time.

The best thing about this trip was obviously the Pont du Gard, but also the other sights were very interesting. The hotel pick up and drop off was very convenient, and I think the small group of 8 in the minivan was a good size for the trip. The driver/guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining and I highly recommend this half-day trip around Provence.

The perfect Provence tour! You visit the Pont du Gard, Les Baux, Roussillon and Gordes, all the most BEAUTIFUL places, and you actually have a reasonable amount of time in each place. Would recommend to anyone who wants to see Provence but doesn and #39;t have a car, as we covered a lot of ground!

We saw many Baux villages in the Alpielle rocky mountains of southern France,, farms and fields before seeing Pont due Hard, the second tallest structure the Romans ever built! Impressive!

With a home base in Avignon and no car, this was great choice for us, since it included two villages in the Luberon, plus the pont du gard, places not easy to get to by train or bus. Our guide, Anais, was very knowledgeable, and shared information while driving to each location, then we were free to explore each place on our own. We highly recommend this tour!

Avignon is the ideal starting point for getting to know Provence. In addition to its jewels such as the Palace of the Popes and its famous Bridge and the ever-present wind, it is located in the center of Provence and through the beautiful villages of the Luberon: Les Baux, Gordes and Rousillon, passing from white calcareous to Ocher color, to finish in the incredible Pont du Gard

Great tour - small group, short and informative. The driver was wonderful and very friendly and provided great information. The actual time in each location was short but was enough time to get a feel for each location. There is a great bit of driving but the route is scenic and not too bad. All the locations would be difficult to travel to by public transportation so this a great way to visit these locations without renting a vehicle. For me I don't like taking long all-day tours and this fit unto my schedule perfectly. The meeting place in Avignon is the Tourist Office and it's easy to find.

The towns we went to were amazing. Please be prepared to walk quite a bit, so wear comfortable shoes. I loved each place we went to on this tour! The guide was nice, but could have provided more information on the area. I was so glad that I was able to see areas I would not have been able to have seen on my own. I would suggest providing water on this tour.

Do not take the afternoon tour. It is badly organized when the Pont du Guard visit is the last stop around 5-5:30 PM. All the pictures that we took were against the sun, which caused the bridge to be dark. This is a shame because the Pont du Guard is the main feature of the tour and is a UNESCO site! Everyone ended up buying a postcard. I was disappointed that I could not take any good pictures. The entire tour was very long driving from one town to another. It should begin with Pond du Guard and the other towns last!

A great way to see Provence if you have limited time! You don and #39;t get a lot of free time on this trip, so if you want to immerse yourself in and truly understand the area, the this trip won and #39;t help you. However, the guide was great, very knowledgable and helpful. Very professional for those in a hurry!

We thoroughly enjoyed our day tour of the Roman viaduct and three hill towns. We were especially pleased with your tour guide, Jeremy, who went out of his way to accommodate us, even calling in to allow us to be transported back to our hotel in Arles. The only unforeseen glitch was a two hour delay due to an accident on the main highway. We enjoyed every minute of the time, even the waiting in traffic.

Great afternoon in Provence-all the villages were interesting and we had some free time in each one. The highlight was the Pont du Gard an amazing engineering feat! Our guide, Remy, was terrific and our small group of 8 meant we weren't waiting around for people at each stop

The trip was excellent. We especially enjoyed the stop at Gordes. It is such a beautiful and picturesque village. Pont du Gard was amazing. It is such an engineering feat. Our guide, Emilie, was very good. She interspersed knowledgeable tidbits throughout the drive. We would definitely use your group again.

3 interesting and different villages, Rousillion, Gordes and Le Baux but maybe cut the time down at each to 30 mins which would give an extra half an hour at the Pont du Gard as we did not have enough time to see the exhibition which looked very interesting.

Description said guide would walk with us. Not true. Basically just drove us around, just pointed us in a direction. Arrived at Pont Du Gard when it was too dark to see properly

Our guide was running 30 min late for our pick-up and the company called our hotel not the mobile listed on our reservation, so we didn't get the information. The hilltop towns were nice, but it would have been better to have more information on what to see and do. The visit to the Pont du Gard was good, we went later in the afternoon so there were fewer crowds but still plenty of sunlight for good photos.

Tour guide pick up wrong person n we hv waited for 30 minutes under 35degree weather, making waste of time on the tour n so rush for everything. Tour guide should verify with voucher instead of pick up any person he saw on the point.

I took this half-day tour with 8 others in a mini-bus. Our driver and guide, Marc was very informative about Provence and chatted about it on our way to three sites: Pont du Gard, and the delightful villages of Gordes and Les Baux de Provence. For me the highlight was Pont du Gard which I have wanted to see for a long time, built by the Romans as part of the aqueduct serving Nimes. The two villages contrast each other and were memorable. Sufficient time was allowed for us to explore each of the sites and Marc gave us good advice regarding what to see as we independently explored the sites. Our tour was on a Monday so it omitted the village of Rousillon, which was a pity, but I only had the Monday free in Avignon. There is around 1 hour driving between each of the sites but this time was used by Marc to impart knowledge of Provence and to answer questions. This was a good tour, considering the time limit of half a day. The tour left me feeling hungry to see more of Provence, and a full-day tour might have been better if I had had the time but at least I did get the flavour of the place and had a good time. Marc advised us that private tours can be taken and these can be tailored around the wishes of the clients - not a bad idea._br/_ Visited June 2015

The guide was very well-informed and gave good commentary but not overbearing. We had good amounts of time at our stops - in the lavender fields which were lovely and in Rousillon. Great way to get a good flavour of the farming in the area too and to see the countryside

Good tour guide but not happy about the web site indicating a hotel pickup which the tour operator wanted to charge 140 Euros. Our previous tour included the pickup and didn't charge anything for it.

The half day tour of Provence was excellent. We were picked up at the appropriate time and the travel guide was knowledgeable and friendly. There is, however, always the dilemma between seeing a host of different, interesting sights versus the actual amount of time being allowed to appreciate all those sights. Whilst we loved the tour as a whole, we did feel that we were time pressured and would perhaps have liked, say half an hour longer at each stop. Altogther, though, we would recommend this wholeheartedly to other travellers.

Our best day in Avignon was this tour of the small outlying villages. Be sure to include Rousillon in your itinerary--beautiful orange and yellow ochre stone, charming village, and lavender ice cream. Gordes is so picturesque you could spend a whole day there, though we just had an hour visit. Our favorite village was Les Baux with its medieval chateau, impressive bauxite rock formations, and caves. We went back after the tour to see the art and light show in the caves -- wonderful! Our guide was Nicolas, who was so friendly and informative and helpful!
