Uluru (Ayers Rock) Outback Barbecue Dinner and Star Tour

Ayers Rock, Australia

Enjoy an Aussie-style barbecue dinner with views of Australia’s most recognized natural icon, Uluru (Ayers Rock). Unwind with a complimentary glass of wine as you watch the sun sink over Uluru. Then, enjoy a mouthwatering dinner within the Uluru Kata-Tjuta National Park as a myriad of stars come out to light up the outback’s night sky. After dinner, your outback experience is enhanced with a star tour of the southern desert sky.

After pickup from Ayers Rock Resort, you'll travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and snacks as the sun sets over Uluru.

Continue to the barbecue site located in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. As you dine looking out across the desert to Uluru (Ayers Rock), savor the mouth-watering flavors of a traditional Aussie barbecue. The menu includes sizzling gourmet sausages, a delicious selection of meats, seasonal salads and fresh bread rolls accompanied by a complementary selection of wine, beer and soft drinks.

After dinner, relax with a cup of tea or coffee as the sun gradually sinks below the desert plain to reveal a myriad of stars in the outback’s spectacular night sky.

The Ayers Rock desert is one of the best places on earth to view the southern night sky. Your local guide and star expert will lead you through the constellations and planets as they move about the sky. Discover the zodiac constellations, find south using the Southern Cross and be amazed by the gleaming Milky Way. This is an experience not to be missed.

Absolutely wonderful! Brilliant views of Uluru as the sun set, with plenty of snacks and drinks including champagne while we watched. Then on to the Outback Barbecue which was amazing. Loads of food, all well cooked and plenty to drink. Highlight was the lights out when we were pitched into absolute darkness while the resident astronomer explained the night sky.

Really good views of the rock at sunset followed by a very good BBQ with great food and drinks and then the highlight with the Star Tour which was brilliant

This tour was amazing!

Review by:   Emanuel S,    January 2018 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
The Tour started with a trip to see the rock at sunset which was interesting. However afterwards we went to the Barbecue dinner which was a sham. All they did was taking us to an extremely overpriced dinner There was nothing unique about it. U can eat better in any restaurant in Uralo. Big disappointment. Also the star gazing was not very interesting.

Great evening out. Picked up by a very jolly lady and driven out to the viewing area. Sunset drinks were plentiful. Unfortunately a thunderstorm meant we had to have an indoor BBQ and there were no stars in the cloudy sky. The BBQ food was very good - lots of different meats and plenty of salads. Lots to drink too. The group wasn't too large- about 30-40

Sunset experience, accompanied with wine, was out of this world. Followed by BBQ dinner which was delicious and had Kangaroo, as the local option, along with the more traditional BBQ meats chicken, steak and shrimp. There were side dishes, more wine, beers and juice. The stars were amazing and the Star glazing chat was nice. At the dinner table you get to mingle with Australian and International tourists which makes the whole experience even more rich. The only draw back for me was that I wanted a longer Star glazing chat since it was one of the reasons why I went out in the middle of Australia to experience, beside exploring Uluru.

Uluru is incredible and having a delicious dinner in view of it and seeing how bright and clear the stars are was amazing. Highly recommend to really get everything out of your trip.

Location was very good for the sunset viewing, but the experience was let down a little by the quality of the food.

Very generous drinks and nibbles followed by sunset at Uluru. What a sight! The barbeque was great and the star watching talk was really fun. Excellent but just remember you have to purchase your park pass on top of the cost of the tour!

The tour was well organised and the staff friendly, however I did feel a little like I was being herded on and off the bus. The food was okay but expensive for the quality. The experience was somewhat marred by the rain.

We were picked up promptly at our resort. This was our first activity, so we immediately paid for our Park passes before we got on the bus. Made the process super easy. Great trip out to Uluru with plenty of wine and snacks available while watching the incredible changes at sunset. The dinner was very good and the overcast sky cleared just in time for the star gazing! Wonderful trip!

I did this tour quite some time ago now but it is still one of my favorite travel memories. It was amazing to see Uluru in the setting sun and the starlight bbq was great. Our guides were vegan which made my rare steak request amusing to them, but they happily provided all guests with their food cooked to order. It was fantastic and I would do it again if back in Australia.

Absolutely loved this trip. They picked us up from the hotel and we watched the sunset on the big red rock while sipping champagne and eating small appetizers. Then we took the bus closer to the red rock to a nice outside setup dinner. I loved that it was long table so everybody could meet and talk to each other and the food was how you wanted it cookedwell done, rare, etc.. A little bit of everything that was so delicious. Afterwards, there was a star tour. Unfortunately, it was a full moon so not everything was visible, but they still pointed out a lot of the brighter stars. It was freezing at night, so bring an extra jacket! If I go back I'd do this tour again in hopes of a new moon.

We had a great time. I imagined a huge crowd of people but I was pleasantly surprised. We had enough space and drinks to enjoy the sunset. Claire, our host during the BBQ was absolutely great. Very cheerful and fun personality. The dinner was delicious. Finally, the starry night was unforgettable

Before I begin my remarks, I want to make it clear that they have nothing to do with Viator's service. We had the misfortune of visiting Ayers Rock during the torrential rains on Dec 25 and 26, 2016. This tour was amended, meaning there were no stars and we had a mediocre meal inside a building, and it did not meet our expectations. If you book with Viator, choose another tour operator as AAT Kings does not make the customer's experience a priority.

Absolutely loved it. The only comment made by a few at the bbq was Uluru was not lit up in any way. It was hard to believe this beautiful rock was right near our bbq._br/_ This date was my husband's first anniversary of his passing and it really made my day very very special._br/_ Thank You

We had such a lovely night meeting good people and enjoying the generous food and wine. Watching the sun set on Uluru was magical and I kept pinching myself. Dining in the shadow of the marvellous rock was a real privilege.

Terrible experience. No outback BBQ: just dinner in a common room which resembled a 7/11. As a regular client of viator I feel extremely disappointed.

Great guides. Weather was cloudy so did not see the full benefit of the sunset over the rock. BBQ was excellent.

Sunset at Ayers Rock is why we visited this area. Great view with plenty of refreshments. BBQ was also great under the stars. Very well run.

A wonderful experience, the trip was well organised giving us the time to position ourselves to get good pictures of the rock changing colour as the sun went down and the BBQ was super, tender meat well cook and plenty of it, with plenty to drink as well what more could you ask

Don't waste your money!_br/_ The Aussie-style barbecue dinner with views of Australias most recognized natural icon, Uluru turned out to be a church fund raising style buffet in a room of the tourist centre, with the option to order one per guest grilled meat that not everybody got because: As the region is so remote, we are not able to guarantee a specific amount of any one thing to the area and this is why we try to keep so many different options for our guests according to the product specialist reply.

It was 4.5 - Awesome would do it again! They need lap blankets for the last bit though as it was very cold. Only complaint, we sat there for 30 mins only to miss the bus! How? Because the tour name on the bus did not match the Viator name, company rep was very rude, but the hotel got us fixed up!

The sunset was great and then we headed to the dinner. Food was great and beer and wine flowed. The star gazing was the highlight. Looked at constellations in the complete dark in the middle of the desert.

the dinner was absolutely delicious. and the star tour afterwards was so insightful. the sky was clear and beautiful for our hosts to point out the constellations. I would recommend this to anyone.

It was a lovely sunset view, a bit cloudy that day for best light, but still. The wine and snacks were perfect. It was nice to be so close to Uluru as we enjoyed the barbecue. It was good. The stars were unbelievable clouds cleared , but I wanted a bit more time seeing them and learning about the constellations. Great tour.

booking process was terrible...Viator staff were unable to answer questions and told us incorrect information which resulted in our uluru experiences to be twice the price. _br/_ Dinner experience itself was not worth what we paid.

My husband and I spent 6 weeks in Australia Hey, I only get to go once! and this is the highlight he will talk about for the rest of his life. The night sky there is truly fabulous. If you are in the area, or even on the continent, find a way to spend some of the night hours in the desert. And on this tour you get a great BBQ dinner and guide who knows the stars.

The experience of having dinner under the stars was terrific. All the food and drinks you could have, great selection. The star gazing was great, we could even see a satalite traveling through the sky. Really friendly group to talk to over dinner.

A lovely tour and a great way to end the day. Although we had a great time, I would say the tour is expensive. Canapés consisted of carrots, cucumber and Doritos. Food at the BBQ spot was good. Star gazing was lovely but very rushed.

The arrangements, food and staff were good but the overcast sky meant that we didn't see the sunset or stars.
