The first question to ask is whether or not you want to do a tour with Mount Batur and second whether or not this is the right tour company? To the first question, I'd answer a tentative yes. To the second question, I'd say no. Based on what I observed, there are better tour operators. I enjoyed the hike but found it very difficult to see where we were going, even with flashlights. My guide was great at helping me along but I still wished we had head lamps. The breakfast on this tour was mediocre at best and we weren't offered any beverages other than the water we carried up with us. I saw other groups drinking hot chocolate and tea, which I would have welcomed given how cold it was. One thing that really irked me is that many tour groups picked their guests up at the top of Lake Batur. Instead, we seemed to be the only group to walk down all the way. By the time we finished, the other four people in my group no longer wanted to go to the Coffee Plantation so we didn't end up going. I would like to have still gone. So my answer is go if you enjoy hiking but go with another tour company.

We absolutely loved this experience from beginning to end! Our driver picked us up from our homestay in Ubud around 2:30 a.m. and drove us about an hour to the spot you start the hike. It's an early wake-up call, but you can sleep on the way for sure. I'd also recommend eating breakfast on your way there. You get it at the top of the mountain too, but that's several hours later. We then met out hike guide, and he was absolutely wonderful as well. The hike is very challenging, but definitely doable. We are in decent shape, but certainly not fitness experts. We got a great workout, and we were very happy to have the couple hour break at the top of mountain. I'd definitely recommend good running or hiking shoes, and a sweatshirt/jacket you can take off. It's colder at the top, but you'll be hot during the hike. The bugs weren't bad at all. Watching the sunrise was incredible, and the guides are so much fun! They were so great about taking all sorts of awesome pictures that we never would have thought of. Getting back down is just as much of an adventure. It's pretty challenging, and you should take your time or you'll slip and fall a lot. The coffee plantation tour at Satria after was so worth it, too! We loved having that after the early morning. Our driver was Nengah. We would HIGHLY recommend him! He was such a delight and drove us to several other stops after the coffee plantation. You won't regret this adventure at all! One of, if not, our favorite parts of this amazing vacation!

I was in a group tour, there were five persons in our group. Our driver Mr. Nengah is polite and friendly, he reached my hotel on time at 1 am. On the way he explained and advice good tips about the hiking conditions._br/_ Everyone has different stamina but our guide Kadek is young and energetic, he is very thoughtful and helped me through out in this hiking trip. Will definitely go for this hiking tour next time, it was memorable and scenic._br/_ Singapore, 23/05/2018._br/_ Lim.

Incredible experience with a wonderful guide!! Must do. Everything was fantastic and Naris our guide was so energetic and encouraging and set us up with the best spot to watch the sunrise over the lake and volcanoes. Excellent English and conversation. The coffee plantation stop was a bit uninformative and more of a pressure sales tactic but still worth the stop. Only caution, this is more than a moderate hike, very vertical on a lot of loose footing.

What an amazing experience!! Our driver picked us up at 1:30am an hour earlier than expected, so make sure to verify the time prior via whatsapp. The ride up there wasn't too long and our group mostly slept. Once you get to the foot of the mountain you meet your two guides - we had Kadek and Wayan and they were fun and spoke great English and kept our spirit up when the hike got a bit rough. Speaking of which, it is NOT an easy hike. I'd sad medium to high level. This is because it is very hard to see they provide flashlights and the ground isn't very set as its a mix of sand and rocks. Once you make it up to the top there are several breaks along the way the view is absolutely to die for and it make it all worth it plus you get a warm breakfast and there is warm tea and coffee to great you : I would HIGHLY recommend this hike!!

A very nice trip. Well, it is surely tough and my legs are still aching even though two days have passed. The route is tough and some part of it could be dangerous, so tourists need to be mentally prepared. After half way through the journey, I was regretting that I booked this trip. However, when you reach the top and reflect the way and have seen the magnificent view, you will realise that it is worth it! Will recommend to people who loves adventure and it physically fit. You need to take care of your knees.

Amazing adventure from 1am hotel pick up to the challenging hike and climb and the ultimately breathtaking sunrise view from the atop Mt Batur._br/_ Incredible 19yr old young man guide named Hadek (I might have spelt it wrong).

My wife and I did this hike on our honeymoon. We are both very active people and this was hard for us. If you are out of shape or have trouble walking/climbing, don't do this. It is an extremely steep hike for about 2-3 hours in the dark. Seeing the sunset at the top of the mountain was cool, but I don't think it was worth the early wake up and long hike up and down.

Very hard hike but we had a wonderful guide. He let us take as many breaks as we needed and he was very experienced. He took pictures for us and was always smiling and answered all sorts of questions. He definatly made the hike up easier. Down was faster but easier just had to be very carful not to twist an ankle because theres is a lot of loose and very steep rocks.

The tour is well organised. The driver and the guide during the hiking were really friendly. I love hiking, so starting the hike under the stars really early in the morning as it was sill completely dark was a very exciting experience for me. Unfortunately it was cloudy when we got at the top so the sunrise was not as colourful as expected, but this is just unpredictable. _br/_ In some reviews you might read that the hike is convenient for all levels. It is not. Many people were struggling, so be prepared and get proper equipment as recommended. For my part I loved to walk up this path and I was happy to get to the top. The views from and of the volcano are stunning. _br/_ The other negative but also unpredictable point is that as a single traveller you don't chose the other people forming the group and sometimes, well, you could do without them. However this is a matter of luck. Also, keep in mind that many people want to climb Mt Batur so the spot is crowded, which makes this excursion a human and social experience as well._br/_ The visit in the coffee plantations did not seem very authentic. However we had the opportunity to taste different varieties of tea and coffee from Bali, including the famous Kopi Luwak we had to pay an extra 50'000 for it though._br/_ On the whole, I consider that 80 is expensive for a half-day excusion. I hope the driver and the guide who were both super nice will get a decent part of this amount.

Great trip. Very good guide up to Mt. Batur. Only two thing: In overview it says Enjoy a breakfast snack of eggs boiled in volcanic steam, but we only got a box of breakfast at start. We thought we would cook eggs on top on volcanic steam, but it was to low steam at moment. Maybe that can be told in overview so you will not be disappointed on top. Second thing, Aircontition in pickup bus was bad and to hot.

The drivers and guide for the hike were excellent - very friendly and accommodating. We had no issue with pick up/drop off even though our hotel was quite remote 3hrs from the mountain.

The tour was very well organised. We got what's up messages about the pick-up time prior to the tour and changes to the schedule. The driver had excellent driving skills, in spite of very rainy weather and the tour guide was knowledgeable and made sure everyone is happy with the tour. Only at the beginning the speed of hiking was a bit too fast but half-way, the tour guide adjusted the speed to make sure all group members will be able to make it. Unfortunately due to foggy weather we haven't seen the sunrise at the top of Mount Batur but in spite of this it was time very well spent and activity that we enjoyed a lot!

It was a cool experience. Our tour guide for the hike was very professional and very helpful, he made sure we took plenty of breaks and felt ok throughout. It was a pretty hard hike due to the floor being mostly volcanic sand and rocks you faced a lot of traction going up hill. Our driver came to pick us up at 2:30am and we arrived at our hike by 3:30am. We had about 2 hours to hustle to the top which made the hike especially strenuous. I was assuming our pick up time was 1:30 as stated and I believe the extra hour would have been made the pace better and more fun. There are 2 peaks the first is a plateau area where most people finish their hike, and then the actual summit is another 45 mins which you can choose to walk to. When we got the first stop it felt very rewarding and we chose to stay at that level, however we didn't really get to see the sunrise due to it being cloudy but it was still beautiful. The hike down took just as long but we took a different route than the way up, I enjoyed this and the views were amazing all the way down. This hike is definitely not for children or teens but people who are physically able, healthy and regularly exercise! Afterwards, we went to the coffee planation tour which was a quick tour about 5-10 mins and then we sat down for our tasting which was 12 small tea cups of coffee split between 2 people I think each person should have been entitled to their own cups because we are each paying for the tour but it was fine. Each coffee and tea we tried was delicious in their own way and we couldn't resist purchasing from their store. This tour was great! My only two complaints were: the pace of the hike was very fast and gruesome especially if you are sick and on antibiotics like I was and the driver making a comment regarding our weight during the planation tour was not appreciated and unprofessional. Overall, I would go on this tour again and hopefully next time reach the summit with favorable weather!

We really are glad we went on this one, but could be more clear on the difficulty. This one is very hard and very long trek up the volcano._br/_ I would definitely change the toilet situation. I have used out houses that where cleaner. They were disgusting and over flowing with human waste. It was a rough situation. On the top of the mountain you have no where to go. If you are desperate, you will have to find a bush. If you can not wait more than 3 hours to go you will have to find a bush or this trip might not be good for you. The coffee plantation was great. We bought lots of delicious coffee and teas.

The experience was amazing! Waking up super early and trekking up this huge mountain in complete darkness was definitely a test of my physical and mental strength. I would not recommend this to anyone who is not in good shape or physically active. It took 3 hours of trekking to get to the top and the panoramic view was like no other, simply beautiful. Our driver was really nice and easy to talk to. He provided tons of information about Bali culture and we had several qualities in common. He also took us to the nearby coffee plantation. The plantation was beautiful as they grow all of their ingredients on their land. This place definitely had a peaceful ambience. However my only concern is with the quality of the tea that we purchased at the plantation- it was likely heavily concentrated with palm sugar instead of the actual herbal team ingredients. Other than that, we really enjoyed this trip and were completely exhausted when all was done.

The hike was great - pretty tough, but well worth it. The guide was great, and I was picked up on time from my hotel._br/_ The coffee plantation tour took less than 15 mins, the Luwaks in the cages looked unhappy, and between three of us strangers we only had one set of coffee/tea tasting cups. Not sure that the coffee plantation tour was worth it.

The Mt. Batur Sunrise Hiking was amazing, just like everyone is saying it is. There was ALOT of people hiking up this thing who should not have been there. You, in the keds sneakers and the older woman with the bad knee, not to mention the 28 year old who had a hangover and vomitted after the 1st ascent was reached. These are the people you have to manuver around in the dark of night on a slippery small pebble foot path. You want to reach the summit for the sunrise but you have to go around these numbskulls to reach it in time so your patience might wear thin after the 1st hour or so. _br/_ Make sure to pack a warm layer and a windproof layer for the top which can be windy and chilly while waiting for the sun to rise.

Amazing!! Our guide was great and took us up a quieter route, then found a place we could sit to watch the sunrise. We then trekked around to view the other lesser craters and cooked bananas in a steam hole. The view was incredible, probably one of the best days we had on our trip. The visit to the coffee plantation afterwards was also nice, a big selection of tea/coffee to taste.

Wow. Just fantastic. Our guides Wayan and Ayu were fully focused on making this a special experience and it was. So worth the early start and climb. Breakfast cooked over the steam vents atop Mt Batur and then sharing with the monkey group at sunrise was a real highlight.

Excellent activity well worth doing, just make sure that you have a reasonable level of fitness as many sections of the hike are very steep and rocky to climb over but the views are worth the effort of the early rise and hike in the dark

Great experience however our guide was very disappointing. Didn and #39;t speak and wouldn and #39;t answer any questions we had. Also didn and #39;t take into consideration the ability of some members of the group and just went on ahead._br/_ No breakfast was provided - driver forgot it_br/_ Sunrise itself at the top was great!

I highly recommend using this service if you want to go on a tour of Mt Batur. Our tour guide and driver for the day, Gusti Bawana from Tour Bali Driver made all the arrangements for us, including picking us up from and returning us to our hotel. Not only did they make all the arrangements for us to climb the mountain, but Gusti also drove us to a coffee plantation afterwards and to a temple. He was extremely knowledgeable and a great guide to have along the way. _br/_ The climb up Mt Batur itself was amazing. It's a bit of a distance but well worth the view you won't be disappointed. There were even monkeys hanging around as we all made our way back down the mountain so we stopped to take pictures with them and feed them. The next time I visit Bali I intend on using this same tour service and requesting Gusti as my tour guide.
