Private Karangasem Day Trip Including Mt Agung

Visit a stunning variety of landscapes and vistas on this private day trip to the region of Karangasem. Benefit from the wisdom of an experienced local guide as you explore top cultural and archeological sites—including the Mother Temple of Besakih—during your comprehensive tour in East Bali. You’ll be in awe of the region’s mountain ranges intermingled with highland plains, tropical forests, terraced rice fields and beautiful beaches! Round-trip hotel transport by private vehicle, as well as lunch at local restaurant, are included.
In the morning, a driver and guide will pick you up from your South Bali hotel by private vehicle. Your first stop is Penglipuran, a traditional countryside village known for its neat row of traditional Balinese entrance gates. During your visit, your guide will enlighten you about the unique architectural traditions of the village.
Afterward, depart for the Mother Temple of Besakih—Bali’s largest and most important Hindu temple. Relax during the approximate 2.5-hour drive to the temple, nestled 3,280 feet (1,000 meters) up the western slopes of Mt Agung, Bali’s highest volcano. When you reach the holy site, explore some of the 23 related temples and courtyards that comprise the extensive complex, which is built on six levels.
Enjoy a buffet lunch at Mahagiri restaurant, situated above terraced rice fields against a stunning backdrop of Mt Agung. Then, continue to Sidemen for a short village walk. This peaceful rural area is known for its beautiful landscapes and traditional weaving. Discover the rice paddies and the salak plantation, which grows the snake fruit famous for its scaly skin.
Your last stop is Klungkung, where you’ll visit a local market and the former Royal Courts of Justice known as Kerta Gosa. Your guide will bring your attention to the elaborately decorated ceiling that features the Wayang style of painting depicting the battle between good and evil.
At the end of your private full-day tour, your driver will transport you back to your hotel.

MUST DO! I would say this was one of the last tours we booked and I wasnt really looking forward to it but wow I was wrong! This was by far our favorite day in Bali!!! Chica was a wonderful guide and really wanted to teach us about the culture of Bali. He answered all our questions and taught us so much about the people and history. I felt like this tour really shows you the heart of Bali. Our stop at the village was lovely and I even bought some goodies from the locals. We really enjoyed Temple of Besakih, there is so much to take in. And the lunch views, wow!!!! Like a post card! Absolutely put this tour on your must do in Bali! I cant believe all we got to do for the money!

Excellent tour. Mother Temple and a local village! Kerta Gosa very interesting as well.
