Ubud Tanah Lot Tour

Bali, Indonesia

Enjoy an overview of Bali's culture and natural scenery on this private tour that includes the Ubud art villages and Tanah Lot, a temple on the sea. Traveling by private vehicle, you'll pass by lush rice fields, see artists and their works, and visit a coffee plantation.

Your tour begins in the morning with hotel pickup by private vehicle. Explore the rice terraces at Tegalalang, known for the subak system of traditional Balinese irrigation that, according to history, was passed down by a revered holy man named Rsi Markandeya in the eighth century. This high roadside location is cool and breezy and offers good photo ops.

Next, arrive at coffee farm to learn about the process of Bali's famous Luwak coffee, made from the beans of coffee berries that have been eaten by Asian palm civets and other related civets, then passed through their digestive tracts. Other crops grown in this area include vanilla, cloves, and cacao. See the coffee-making process, and enjoy provided tastings for all coffee, tea, and cocoa drinks except for the Luwak coffee (own expense).

At midday, head to Ubud, the center of arts in Bali. Over the next few hours, see Mas village, known for woodcarvings; Celuk village, where artisans make silver and gold jewelry by hand; and Tohpati village, which is known for batik weaving. Then in the early evening, arrive at Tanah Lot, a rock formation just off the coast of Bali, where a temple sits on the rocks and offers a great place to watch the sunset. There are several points to see this temple, all of which boast views. You may spot black and white sea snakes at the base of the rocks that are said to guard the temple from evil spirits.

Your day tour ends with return to your hotel.

My husband and I enjoyed this tour a lot, but thought the art villages were more of an art market... I wish there was more clarification on this portion of the tour. However, the art villages we opted to visit were nice and we made purchases at both a fabric/silk village and a silver workshop - very pleased with the items we bought. We were able to stop by a few markets by the rice terraces and bought some local, handmade items. Our lunch overlooking the rice terraces was amazing! Tanah Lot was crowded, but beautiful and a great place to walk around and capture some photos! The Luwak coffee tasting was fun and unique! All and all, I would highly recommend this tour to Bali visitors, but would suggest a separate plan to visit the large art market in Ubud which did do the following day, in combination with the Monkey Forest.

We were the only people on the tour and the driver had no particular information to impart during the long journey. The trip was tiring and not remarkable in any way.

We bought this tour for 3 people, paying less than 40usd each and we got a private van and driver for the whole day, that accommodated to our minor tour modifications! _br/_ Dude pronounced 'DooDee' was our guide and driver that day. We went to Tanah Lot first because he said in the afternoon it gets more crowded. It was a good choice because the temple was not packed still somehow crowded because it is a popular temple after all. Then we continued to Ubud, stopping at Mengwi Temple that was not in the original route. Which btw, I recommend you visit!_br/_ Later we went to have lunch at a 'secret restaurant' called Boni Bali where you can eat while looking at the rice fields in Ubud. The view was amazing! The food quality was Very Good and price just Ok like an expensive hotel: 10-15usd for a complete meal, but still we would recommend that place as well. _br/_ Then we stopped by the wood carving place. This was nice and we were about to buy some of the super great sculptures that they offer from around 100usd, but we didn't and we were VERY glad when we found the exact same sculptures at a local supermarket/souvenir shop in Nusa Dua for 10 of the price from 10usd. So be careful. Go and enjoy the explanations, but don't buy anything there. The same advice goes for the silver shop that you visit later. _br/_ Finally we stopped by the luwak coffee place, we had a cup of that strange coffee and bought some tea and coffee. They even had a luwak alive, which was nice to meet._br/_ The Tanah Lot Temple is nice but was not the highlight of the trip. We really liked Ubud and the road itself!

We had just arrived from Java and wanted a quick tour of some of Bali's highlights. The artisan (woodcarving, silversmith, painting and coffee) places were somewhat "touristy", but it was very nice to visit. Our driver Aldo's English was great and we had a laugh. We would recommend this tour.

During this trip my partner and I visited the Luwark coffee plantation and had the opportunity to sample a variety of teas and coffees. We also visited an art exhibition, the silver works, woodcarving and the batik works. We also travelled to see the rice terraces, which was an amazing experience. The final trip to Tanah Lot was brilliant and we enjoyed watching the sunset xx

We recently has the most amazing tour traveling around Bali with our driver Madeles who was absolutely brilliant. He really made our day special by being really helpful, accommodating to our needs and answering the numerous questions we had. His english was excellent and his driving was of a high standard, which is one of our concerns having seen some the of drivers on the roads on the way from the airport. Couldn't recommend him and Sunshine Bali Tours any higher :

We had a great day trip to Ubud and Tanah Lot. Our guide and driver Dex Guzz was informative and went out of his way to show us around and he knew all the places to take us so we could experience a taste of Bali. On the way to Ubud we stopped at a traditional Balinese dance show which we enjoyed and then we tasted some lovely coffee and teas at a coffee plantation. The ginger and lemongrass teas were very refreshing. We toured a silver factory and purchased some lovely jewellery at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed lunch at a restaurant which overlooked a paddy field and watched men planting out the fields while we ate our lunch. Also we stopped at paddy fields, a batik factory and saw wood carvers and artists at work. Unfortunately it was cloudy when we arrived at Tanah Lot so there was no sunset to view but we still had a lovely view of the coastline. Dex Guzz drove us to all the places we wanted to visit and spent an extra two hours driving us around through all the traffic congestion. Thank you so much. Kathy and Steve

We had a fun and enjoyable day with Aldo as our tour guide. He was friendly, informative and knowledgable. We laughed the whole trip! He was very patient and let us take our time at all the stops. He took us to a fabulous tranquil lunch place with no crowds and yum food. Thanks so much Aldo!

Our driver was courteous and apologised that his English was not good however it wasn't bad he had to think about a few words but overall he spoke good English. He picked us up at 8.30am which was as stated on our voucher which means it was impossible to be at Tanah Lot for sunset as we had to be back at the hotel by 16.30 to cover the 8 hour tour.Sunset was at around 18.30 and then the drive back to the hotel would have meant a lot longer day. This was a bit of a disappointment as the description gives the impression you are at Tanah Lot for sunset but you are actually there in the afternoon. We had a good day but it could have been better

The tour was interesting. After an initial snag the driver had been informed we were on another tour, which was quickly sorted out, our driver, Yoga, took us through the proper itinerary, which included a number of stops: a look at the beautiful terraced rice fields in the outskirts of Ubud wood carving, batik, jewelry disinterested local guide and painting. Then came a visit to the luwak producing centre where the numerous other teas and coffees we tasted were more interesting than the luwak itself, which is pretty much so-so - and this one you have to pay for. The local guides were wonderful. Then we stopped for lunch - much too late at about 2 p.m.. Finally, we went to see the beautiful Tanah Lot temple, which we admired from outside no entry except on festive occasions - as is the case with many temples in Bali. Then the longish drive home. Yoga's English, while not fluent, was adequate and his demeanor friendly throughout.

After reading numerous feedbacks from different tourists and seeing that Made is the highly recommended guide, I was so happy Made Aldo actually turned out to be our guide for the day. He speaks very good English, friendly and chatty. We hardly had a quiet session throughout our trip. He made our trip very enjoyable by giving a lot of information and stories about Ubud and even suggested places that weren't on our planned itinerary so that we could experience more of his hometown. Although our trip was short but we felt that we had covered a lot. Made Aldo is definitely the guy to hire.

An excellent relaxing day. Our driver, Made Aldo, made the day very special for us. He was a very calm and excellent driver, we felt safe during entire trip. He gave us good advice and was friendly, spoke good English, explaining the different areas we travelled to. He took us to an excellent lunch location near the rice terraces that was very scenic, and was not overwhelmed with tourists, excellent food at good prices. When my wife was admiring shops along a road near Ubud he suggested we walk and browse the shops along the road while he kept pace with the vehicle so we could hop back on when we were done getting exposure to the local culture. We really enjoyed the Batik factory, Luwak coffee, Rice Terraces and Tanah Lot temple. There was no real pressure to buy at the various stops and the local guides were very friendly and informative regarding the processes demonstrated. It was a lot of travelling, but not rushed and well worth the 9 hours on the tour.

My partner and I really enjoyed our tour! Our driver Putu was amazing! Very friendly and taught us a lot about Balinese culture and traditions. He even let us add in a trip to a waterfall that wasn and #39;t in the itinerary. He allowed us to take each stop at our own pace. Would definitely recommend!

We had a great day with Putu. I recommend this tour if you want to see the country side and like us only had two and half days in Bali, it is a long tour. We loved seeing the Rice Terraces and going to the coffee factory. We did enjoy shopping as well. You can tell Putu what you want to see or don't and he'll make it work for you.

Our guide, Anung arrived at our hotel lobby early on the date and time specified- it was a private tour as we were the only ones in the car! He kin of arranged the tour to suit our viewing pleasure- we went to Kuta beach and Ubud Palace, drove by monkey forest and saw Teenungan Falls and these were not included in the itinerary. He was knowledgeable and very helpful- real nice guy! For lunch we drove to Kentucky Fried Chicken and he even went inside to help us order in Balinese as the language is unknown to us! Tanager Lot was fun - we went in and due to the religious celebrations got rice paste on our forehead an a flower behind our ear! Aging showed us the venomous snakes that guard the holy temple- the surroundings with the Indian Ocean in the background were breathtaking! We had a real fun day!

Basically we got a private guide with a car, who was taking two of us to all the places. I would skip the art villages unless you want to buy something, as the explanation is extremely short and learned by heart and then the designated person is following like a shadow and expecting you buy something. _br/_ I did enjoy coffee plantation tour and tasting Luwak coffee comes as extra and lunch by the rice terraces our guide took us to a place a bit off the beaten track. _br/_ I would have liked to spend more time exploring the rice terraces, but it was not the best period late December, after the harvest. I also enjoyed the walk through Monkey Forest and visit to Tanah Lot, though the latter can get really crowded, we did not wait until the sunset._br/_ Overall, a great private Bali -in-1-day tour!

The guide on this tour was wonderful. Unfortunately we had already been to many of the places that were on the itinerary - my mistake, our Guide very happily took us to places that we requested without hesitation and was most informative the whole time, whilst at all times remaining professional. A very nice day was spent with him driving around Bali.

Excellent tour, tour guide and process of booking. Our tour was actually given by Tude, deom Bali Sun tours. We had a great day visiting the outskirts of Ubud and shopping at some really nice places: wood carving studio with amazing art, huge batik factory, silver factory and coffee plantation. Then he took us to a really nice restaurant on the water and rice fields and then on to Tanah Lot for sunset. Totally great, Tude was really receptive and flexible, his driving was excellent, and he gave us amazing information about the area. Loved it and will recommend it to our friends.

The lewak coffee was amazing and the place that let us try it also had free complimentary tea tasting! Recommend this trip as it was great and wholesome tour for the time.

Great day!!!_br/_ We had a great guide who turned up early and had great knowledge of all places we traveled to._br/_ Everything was as described in the packaged. We even got to do a couple of extra stops along the way.The only improvement on the day would be the lack of choice for the lunch stop. Lunch was ok, but would have been great to have more choice. Over all a great day, would highly recommend.
