Upstream Itinerary Day 1 12.30pm: Transfer from your Hotel in Bangkok to board Mekhala Cruise. Start cruising up the Chao Phraya River. Passing the Grand Palace and the Temple of Dawn. Arriving at Pathum Thani in the afternoon, you will visit a fresh market where locals shop for food. At sunset, the Mekhala will dock at Wat Kai Tia, a Buddhist temple located in a tranquil rural village. An exquisite candlelit dinner of mouth-watering Thai cuisine will be served on the deck. You will spend the night on board the boat, in your air-conditioned cabin.
Day 2 We start the day by cruising to a small village of Baan Saladang, an aged-old Mon community who migrated from Burma to this area in the early 19th century. The villagers here have maintained their traditional life style, customs and natural surroundings. You will also see a collection of well-preserved Thai houses in this charming village. Afterwards, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast. Later in the morning, you will disembark and travel to Bang-Pa-In Summer Palace. The mansions reflect Chinese, Swiss, Khmer, Thai and European styles of architecture. Travel by long tail boat to the capital of Ayuthaya to visit the archeological site of the once glorious capital. After lunch at a local restaurant, return transfer back to your Hotel in Bangkok.
Downstream Program Day 1: 7am Transfer from your Bangkok Hotel to Ayuthaya. Visit the archaeological site of the once glorious capital. After lunch at a local restaurant, cruise on a long-tail boat to Bang-Pa-In to explore the Summer Palace. After this visit, our guide will drop you off, to board the Mekhala boat. We now enjoy watching rural life along the “River of Kings” on board the boat. Afterwards, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast. The boat will continue to Bangkok and you will be able to take in the sights of the Grand Palace and Temple of Dawn along the way. You will arrive in Bangkok in the morning approximately 11am. Disembark and return transfer to your Bangkok Hotel.
