5-Night Umphang Trekking Tour from Bangkok

Travel from Bangkok to Thailand's Umphang district, near the border of Myanmar (Burma), for a jungle experience that includes three days of trekking through the tropical forest. You'll go rafting on the Mae Klong River, swim at the bottom of Thi Lo Su waterfall, stay overnight in a Karen hill tribe village. You’ll also visit towns like Umphang and Mae Sot, a great way to experience rural Thailand. This small-group guided tour is limited to 10 people and is designed for physically fit people who don’t mind roughing it.
This action-packed trekking tour and cultural adventure includes three days of hiking through mountainous jungle terrain at a moderate level of difficulty. As you must carry your own backpack and belongings, a decent level of fitness is required to participate.
Accommodation includes one night at a homestay in a Karen hill tribe village, where living conditions are basic. You'll also spend your nights on an overnight drive by luxury bus, a campsite in Umphang Wildlife Sanctuary, a simple hut and a local guesthouse. You may store any extra luggage during the trekking portion in order to lighten your load.
Great experience and all worth it, just don't expect all your home luxuries. Your safety and wellbeing is their prioirity and really great guides! The 4hour tuktuk ride from Mae Sot to Umphang was a little difficult for me I am sensitive for travel sickness. The only thing I would improve is having a rain plan for the tents we were a little unlucky since it does not rain a lot but the provided tents weren't waterproof, although in the end we did not sleep wet since the rain stopped in time. Tip: maybe take a small trekking cushion with you, it is a wonderous luxury.

Kurt and the other guides were tremendous, becoming like a family in a very short time. They constantly pointed out natural attractions and explained the environment we hiked through. They prepared excellent meals, made sure we always had enough water, laughed with us around the camp fire and encouraged us to become more adventurous while exploring the beautiful Thi So Lo waterfalls. The trekking was more strenuous than I thought it would be however, it was also much more rewarding than I had imagined. Throughout it all, the guides were accommodating, helpful and kind to each of us, regardless of our level of ability. The only disappointment I had was the rafting trip. The guides did the paddling. I was thinking that we would do that. However, that was of little consequence as we then forged out way into the mountains of northern Thailand and reveled in the adventures that came before us. I recommend this highly and especially with Kurt and his fellow guides.

Beyond expectations!_br/_ Mind blowing views and amazing experience that we'll never forget. We did some very nice pictures, but real life experience is so much better. Crew does outstanding job and goes above and beyond to make sure you have good time. Good thai food from fresh ingredients._br/_ Don't expect luxuries, conditions can be rough at times. Trip is not very easy, but it's not super hard, expect 2-4h of trekking a day, some of that uphill. If you can live with that - no excuses, you should go!

My husband and I had a moment of madness and booked this trip, having already arranged time in Bangkok and a beach resort to chill out afterwards. We were looking for something challenging and unusual, and we certainly found it! Great staff and a fabulous experience. You do need a good fitness level
