Ride a bicycle through Bangkok’s Chinatown on flat terrain, stopping at several city highlights along the way. Cycle to Princess Mother Memorial Park and hop off your bike to explore its tranquil gardens and quaint historical museum. Dedicated by His Majesty the King to honor the childhood home of the late Princess Mother, the large park features a reconstructed house and exhibition halls that offer visitors a glimpse of her life.
See photographs and mementos on display, including small Buddha images she sculpted for the royal family, before riding to Santa Cruz Church. Established by a Portuguese community — Thailand’s first European settlers — the Catholic church is a monument to the country's religious freedom and cultural tolerance.
Note the Chinese architectural influences of this imposing landmark that looms above the river’s western bank, and enjoy a taste of traditional dessert from an old Portuguese recipe passed down for generations.
Then continue to Wat Arun, aka Temple of Dawn, built on the riverbank in the 17th century to catch the early morning light. Gape at the pagoda-style temple, studded with Chinese porcelain, and discover from your guide the significance of its design.
