Colors of Bangkok

Bangkok, Thailand

Enjoy this half-day tour through unseen parts of Bangkok away from the hustle and bustle of tourist trails. Learn and see how daily life passes by for Bangkokians as you explore part of the Thai capital which you will never see on your own and brings you to colorful places using an almost traffic-free route.

Exploring Bangkok by bicycle is an exciting way to experience Thailand’s capital. The half-day tour shows you a part of Bangkok that you’ll never see from the sky train, tuk-tuk or taxi ! A part where there is almost no traffic, just narrow streets and backyards. Bangkok as you have never imagined !

During the first part of the tour we see stand alone villas, luxurious apartment buildings, townhouses and in between shops, companies and stall factories. First stop is at one of the many hidden local communities in Bangkok. This area of Bangkok, some call it a slum, but the local people call it 'home'. The people who live here belong to the poorest people in Bangkok, but they are friendly, polite, generous and give us a warm welcome every day.

Walk through this small community and stop at the slum kindergarten. The poorest children receive education here while their parents are working. Visiting slum areas makes you remind that life is not that easy for everyone.

Next, continue your bicycle adventure in the 'City of Angels' and make another stop at a sweatshop where they make t-shirts for the local market before arriving at the pier. Here you'll board a typical Thai long-tail boat to cross the mighty Chao Phraya river, the River of Kings.

At the other side of the river you'll find yourselves back in the 'Jungle' or the 'Green Lung' of Bangkok, a very green area just a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. Here you'll cycle on elevated pathways through lush vegetation and in the shade of coconut palms and banana trees.

Halfway through the tour you will stop at a local restaurant where you will be provide with a small Thai meal.

After lunch, visit a very old non-touristy Buddhist temple where the guide can tell you everything about Buddhism.

Last but not least, make a stop at a small open-air Muay Thai (boxing) school. Then, head back to the heart of Bangkok where your tour finishes.

Note: The itinerary is subject to change, since schools and local shops may be closed during the weekend, school holidays or national holidays.

This was an amazing way to see some hidden gems of Bangkok in a close up,intimate way. Nisha, our guide, was knowledgeable and courteous and a lot of fun to spend the afternoon with. The tour included visits to inner city community, local kindergarten, small garment factory community as well as the jungle paths of Sri Nakom Khaunkhan Park. Bikes were in excellent shape and it was a lot of fun to cross the river with the bikes in a small boat.

Amazing 4 hours where we cycled through so many different areas, went on a longtail boat twice across the river, fed some fish, watched so many families enjoying themselves away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. _br/_ Nischa our guide made our trip perfect - amazing tour guide. Good value for your money. Our tour guides name was Best. He has a very good positive attitude and spoke good English. It was a comfortable bike through through the city, shuttle boat across the river, and a unique bike ride in the jungle area of Bangcock. Best offered good explanations of the sites and answered questions. We went to feed the fish and saw a lot of the country side of Bangcock. The roads are fairly narrow during parts of the trip so i would recommend you are somewhat comfortable riding a bike prior to this activity. The local lunch place best took us to had delicious food!

We really enjoyed our tour, our guide Sao was very knowledgeable and obviously enjoyed her job. It was very hot and I forgot my cap not a good idea. The first part of the tour is on Bangkok roads which was easy but a little exciting, mixing it with the traffic. We then visited the slums which was interesting before we arrived at the river and had the long tail boat crossing to the main area of jungle / national park. Riding around the lush green swamp / park was the best bit. We got to feed the fish, we saw a few monitor lizards and then stopped at a local cafe for a typical Thai meal which was good. Then back on the bikes to start our ride back. You do need a level of riding skill for me that would be the ability to balance as the raised narrow cycle ways are quite tricky if you are prone to a few wobbles. That aside, we really enjoyed it and they send you a lovely video after. Well worth a try and Sao our guide was great.

Very conscientious and professional tour company checked up on several who were missing and/or late without compromising the tour for others, very accommodating to clients. The tour itself is as described, highly recommended, and led by people who obviously love Bangkok and love what they do. Many thanks.
