Discover Bangkok's Real Chinatown and Little India
Bangkok, Thailand
This walk will take you through two of Bangkok's oldest communities - Chinatown (known locally as 'Yaowarat") and Little India (known locally as 'Pahurat'). Our expert, licensed guides are great story-tellers and really know their trade. Historical intrigue, shadowy underground tales and superstitious legends are weaved through a route full of market noises, exotic smells, colourful decorations and delectable food samplings, culminating in an explosion of the senses! Experience the chaos on your next trip!
Bangkok's Chinatown is the world's largest, most chaotic and also one of its oldest. The Chinese always had an enormous influence on Siam and this continues in contemporary Thailand. The five 'families' set up schools and hospitals alongside money lenders, gambling dens, prostitution houses, all internally policed by the Triads. Little India's community is very different, but no less turbulent.

Our meeting point is in front of Hualampong MRT station exit 2. There are 2 stations called Hualampong, the MRT station and the train station - they are not far apart and are connected through a corridor. MRT exit 2 leads you to the corridor. At the end there is an escalator, and when you go up you are next to the train station, where your adventure starts. Please make sure to be there 8.30 sharp. Your exploration ends about 3 km further, not far from the river, and not too far from the Grand Palace. From there you can walk to the river and return to the BTS or MRT by river taxi, or you can return via regular taxi.
Be warned this is NOT a circular walk. You will finish a very long way from where you started without proper instructions on how to get back. The china town part of the walk was very interesting but the Little India part was not very interesting and felt rushed.
