Full-Day Tour to Ayuthaya from Bangkok including Lunch Cruise Return Trip

Bangkok, Thailand

On this private or non-private full-day tour you will visit the former capital of Thailand, Ayuthaya. Explore the ruins of the old city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and see the Summer Palace of King Rama V. Then cruise back to Bangkok in luxury and enjoy a delicious Thai buffet lunch!

Discover Ayuthaya, a World Heritage Site and the former capital of Thailand. Ayuthaya is a must-see destination and a historic port with cultural influences from China, Japan, Indonesia, Portugal, Holland, France, and Scandinavia.

The tour starts at the Summer Palace of the late King Rama V. We then continue to the magnificent ruins of the World Heritage Site of the old city of Ayuthaya, founded by King Ramathibodi I in 1350 and the capital of the country until its demise by the Burmese army in 1767.

You’ll return to Bangkok in luxury, cruising down the Chao Phraya River on a comfortable, air-conditioned cruise ship while enjoying a delicious buffet lunch on board. Upon arrival in Bangkok in the late afternoon, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel.

A very enjoyable tour. Time at the summer palace was a wonderful addition form several years ago. Bus ride to catch the rivercruise got a little long.

My husband and I had taken this tour before and really enjoyed it, so when our kids came to visit us in Bangkok we decided to take them on it. What a difference this time. Here is what you need to know that they don't tell you. First - no where on the site does it say that you MUST have your legs fully covered. NO SHORTS. Before when we went, shorts to the knees were fine. Not this time. We all had to go into the gift shop and buy long elehant pants before we could go to see the Summer Palace. Next - half of the Summer Palace is closed. The beautiful Wat/temple is fully hidden behind construction and half of the palace was inclosed in scafolding... leaving you the gardens to see. That was very disappointing. The guide spoke pretty good English, but the microphone used on the bus was terrible and muffled what he said. Off the bus he did not use any kind of microphone so unless you stood right by him, you couldn't hear anything he said. Ayuthaya, ofcourse was amazing, and the cruise back was great with good food.

Had a great time on my tour! We were picked up by a mini van that drove us to our tour bus. The bus took us to Bang Pa In Royal Summer Palace where we spent 45 mins, then went to the first Ayutthaya site where we took pictures of the Budda Head that was pulled by the roots of the tree it was buried under and a few more pictures of the that site for 45 mins, then drove out to another pat of Ayutthaya and spent about an hour there taking pictures of that site. After that we drove out to the cruise pick up area and headed back to Bangkok.

Great Tour with wonderful guide and driver. The guides English and knowledge were fantastic. The slow boat back to Bangkok was a bit of a waste of time.

The site itself is fantastic, but the guide was pretty bad. He talked way too much and in an accent that was difficult to understand. I would have loved to have spent more time roaming around by myself rather than listening to him. Our second site was the king's summer palace. This was also a lovely place where we were supposed to have an hour to explore, but by the time he finished talking it was almost time to leave. The cruise down the river back to Bangkok with buffet lunch was lovely.

It was a beautiful tour. Why I gave it a 4 star is because we would have loved the full Thai experience not been rush a little. While speaking to the other people on the tour we would have preferred to have been given more time in each area to explore the crafts and food. Not everyone wants to eat a buffet or go to a local restaurant which we can do anytime. We never got to see how they spun sugar, which Ayuthaya is famous for, as we had a dead line to make for the boat which was okay

Came to Bangkok 10 years ago and was told when we came back to be sure to see Ayutthaya. We did. Definitely worth the day trip. Very prompt pick up and actually saw more than just ruins of the city. There was a palace tour included there that I didn't realize was part of the day. It was really beautiful and quite different from other things we had seen in Thailand. The cruise back aboard the Pearl was very good too. The food was better than we had expected for a day cruise boat and the boat itself was very modern and nice. The tour bus going to Ayuthaya wasn't quite as nice as some of the others we saw around...but I wouldn't ding them for that one item.

Booking was easy and we pre arranged a pick up location at a nearby hotel for 6:30am. The driver was 20 minutes late and the telephone contact telephone number was not correct. Well, a slow start, besides that we had an enjoyable day visiting the kings old summer palace, and the ruins of Ayuthaya. It was a very crowded Sunday, as many locals visit the zrea for the weekend. As our guide explained it was an overview visit to just get a glimpse of the site on a one day visit. The cruise was on a very comfortable_br/_ boat, and the buffet was nicely presented and fresh.

Our tour guide, first, was very comical and knowledgable. The temples were beautiful as were the ruins. However be prepared to sweat! Drink lots of water and bring a change of clothing. It is okay to wear shorts after the visit to the summer palace.

This was a very interesting tour. I think that all trips to Thailand should include a tour to Ayuthaya as it gives an outline on the history of the country and the government.

This was a great trip, even though we had to leave the hotel at 7am. Our guide, who's name we can't remember, was very funny, knowledgeable, and very patient with some of the other tourists who ignored his requests to be back at the coach on time. The summer palace was quiet and peaceful, Ayuthaya awesome, and the cruise with meal was so enjoyable. Well worth the money.
