Half-Day Siam Boran Cultural Bike Tour of Bangkok

Bangkok, Thailand

Cycle along the quiet back streets through diverse local communities and many of the hidden treasures of the city. Experience the vibrant Chinatown district, the huge and colorful vegetable and flower markets, and cross the ancient Chao Phraya River to explore the previous capital of Thailand.

After relaxing with a complimentary tea or coffee in our peaceful Clubhouse garden in the heart of the city, you will be introduced to your friendly tour guide who will show you a short safety video and then select a suitable bike for you.

Cycling along the quiet back streets, through many small local communities, you will get a truly unique insight into daily local life in Bangkok.

Our first stop is the Old Customs House, built in the 1890’s it was once the gateway to Thailand levying taxes on traders moving in and out of the kingdom. There are plenty of photo opportunities whilst your guide takes you on an interesting tour of this beautiful majestic building.

After passing through a Muslim community and a mind-blowing maze of turns we arrive at the ancient Chow Sue Kong Chinese Shrine. Tucked away in Talat Noi this shrine is the center of the 200-year-old Chinese community that is one of the oldest in Bangkok.

‘Enter the Dragon’, the vibrant and seemingly chaotic Chinatown, the center of the 1782 Chinese settlement where it is said you can find just about anything. Cycling through the busy market streets is exhilarating; enjoy the vibrant colors and activities of the busy stalls and the fabulous scents from the famous street food vendors.

At Pak Khlong Talat, the biggest fresh flower and vegetable market in Bangkok, you will be stunned at the array of dazzling fauna from across Thailand. Here you can walk among this truly amazing area and try some delicious local Thai snacks that your guide will buy for you.

On the ferry across the River of Kings, the lifeblood of Bangkok, you can relax and watch the beautiful city sights unfold. On the other side you will visit Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn this is one of the most striking riverside landmarks in Bangkok. Also, not to be missed is Wat Prayoon in the Old Portuguese community; its large white chedi is the only one of this style in Bangkok.

As you meander along the river cycle path you can enjoy the refreshing cool breeze and the fantastic views back across the city. Back at the Clubhouse treat yourself to a free fish foot spa, we also have a licensed bar and if time permits we will present a slide show of your tour photographs taken by your guide.

Finally, when you return home, you will have received an email with a free link to download the tour photographs taken by your guide on your fantastic Bangkok bike tour.

I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Teddy as in bear, was a great guide, sharing information along the way and was invested in my having the best experience possible. We went to many venues and each one was made more enriched by Teddy sharing his knowledge. The pace was perfect, and we wound up spending a bit more time than the tour was scheduled for because there was no rush on Teddy's part. We sampled a variety of food along the way, and all of it was good. The tour ended with fish cleaning my feet while I sipped on a drink. I got to experience Bangkok in a very unique way that provides a lasting memory.

This is really a great trip! You need to be able to ride a bike as you are going down paths and corridors and neat places you would normally never knew existed. Our guide was enthusiastic, careful, attentive, thoughtful--everything you want in a great guide. He knew things you want a guide to know. Teddy! Great Job!!

This was a fantastic insight to a multi-cultural city. The guide was very polite and knowledgable. The place is a little hard to find so definitely print the map up but the company is well run with good equipment. The ice cream and fish foot spa was a lovely treat at the end!

If you are an experienced cyclist and you want to see the city from a different perspective this trip is for you. The local bike shop that puts on this tour sent great instructions on how to find their bike shop where the tour starts be sure to print off the instructions they send. Prior to the ride a humorous and informative safety video is shown to acclimate participants on what they should expect. Helmets and water are provided and they ensure the bike is set up properly. I joined up with two others for the ride led by Kiki. The route takes a path including backstreets, sidewalks, bike paths, bike lanes, and through market areas. You see Chinatown, three Buddhist temples including both Chinese and Thai, the river front area, the river via ferry boat rides, and the Thonburi area. Kiki did a great job leading us through the city traffic. Good bike handling skills are necessary as some of the paths are pretty tight and congested with many pedestrians. Kiki relayed quite a bit of informative information about the temples and Thai culture. Some light snacks and drinks were also provided along the route. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and recommend this tour. The guide was outstanding.

This was a chance to get some exercise while on vacation. We did the late afternoon trip so the tour ended after it got dark. Was a bit nervous riding the bike down the main streets we had to go on but we survived without incident. Also rode down back streets and alley ways which provided a glimpse of how the locals live. The tour featured stops at several points of interest we had not hit with our other tours like the Flower Market. The guide was very good at making sure we were safe and okay to ride the distance. We even survived the downpour just before the end of the tour. It was well worth the time and money.

This was a great sightseeing tour for Bangkok with a twist. Cycling through the alleyways and main streets made me feel like i got to see various aspects of life here and see firsthand the diversity in this city. _br/_ Were able to see many temples and try different snacks in the flower market.

Worth it! It was HOT when we were there in October but being on the bike actually kept you cooler as the wind blows on you when you're moving. Standing still and listening in the heat is worse. Lots of back alleys and off-the-beaten path type tour. We got to see the Chinese Market and take a fairy ride on the canal. Be sure to eat before hand as you're going to eat some small snacks on the trip. The place has no hills at all. You will be going on and off curbs but you usually get off your bike for this. It does help to have good biking skills. But the tour itself was a blast. Luckily, we were there for monsoon season but the rains didn't start until after the ride was done.

This was a great way to see the real life of Bangkok outside of the markets and strips of girls girls girls bars. I would highly suggest this if you want a bit of exercise other than walking and to get out and see some of the real Bangkok. Feeding the turtles was a nice way to stop and relax. _br/_ Our guide was good and pleasant and extremely nice when I lost my helmet in the water coming off the ferry ! _br/_ However, it felt like in the interest of time, he seemed to not to want to show us around the grounds of where we had stopped to turn around and when questioned why we were not going to Wat Arun, he simply said because there is so much construction and it was another 30 minutes away. While this may be true, we should have been told up front. When you pay for a service you expect what is sold to you and if there are any changes to be consulted or told before. _br/_ In addition, don't expect much from the free fish spa, they were either not hungry when we arrived or were poorly taken care of so not full benefit. _br/_ All in all the price paid is worth the experience we did get. Lots of photos were shared which was a bonus._br/_ Seems that the people on the jungle tour had a great time so you might weigh up the two choices if Wat Arun is still under 'construction'

I ended up being the only person booked on my morning tour but my guide Tom was great. I was so happy to discover the real Bangkok and see so many things that I would never had discovered. I cannot recommend this tour enough and thank Tom for his enthusiasm and knowledge

This tour was fantastic, I have been to Bangkok more than a dozen times and never seen the heart of the place like we did. Going through the back streets and alleys into different villages gave us a real insight and was amazing. Thoroughly recommend!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Matt. It gave us the opportunity to see the Bangkok not on the typical tour. We very much enjoyed seeing life in the alleys and off the main roads as well as learning some of the cultural history and perspective in a small group setting. This was our first bike tour in a city but it was such a positive experience we will definitely do this in other cities.

This was the most wonderful tour with the most wonderful guide, Matthew. What a fantastic way to see the city, well worth the money! We saw places a foreigner would normally not go--- markets and back alley-ways, in temples, across the river to another town, where the local people live and eat, etc. It was REALLY fun to bike around the city! And, we learned a lot about Thai culture from our guide, which we weren't expecting. He taught us how to properly pray inside the temples, differences between Thai and Chinese temples, etc. Water was provided the whole time. Recommend whether you have one day in Bangkok or a week---- great experience!

Our Guide Tom was patient, accommodating and very knowledgeable. Though the location was quite challenging and we arrived late he nonetheless assured us that he would make up the time at the end of the tour ,therefore we were given the complete timeframe. It was quite hot that day but he stopped numerous of times to make sure we were fine and provided us with water to make sure were hydrated Thank you, Tom!! I truly enjoyed all the areas we stopped by to visit especially the Chinese shrine and Buddhist temple. Two of my friends were not able to make the last leg of the tour however ,Tom hailed a tuk tuk and they waited for us at the bike location happy having ice cream and enjoying the fish spa . I recommend this tour and Tom our guide whole heartedly. Don't leave Bangkok without experiencing the scenery, ferry ride and alleyways of up close and personal of Thai neighborhoods. Can't wait to experience another bike tour the next time I visit another country with your company!! Two thumbs up for Tom and his colleague..:- Yolanda R.

Peter was the most amazing guide!! What a gem you have in him! We got to see amazing back road neighborhoods that really opened our eyes to how and where locals live. We biked along back canals and through very busy and exciting markets. At the same time we got to see some of the main tourist attractions. This was one of my favorite tours I participated on during my Thailand adventure. Thank you so very much Go Follow me tours!
