Morning Alms Tradition in Bangkok
Bangkok, Thailand
Offering alms to the monks is a Buddhist tradition and an experience that should be tried whilst staying in Thailand. This 45 minute private tour is a great way to see this tradition close up in Bangkok.
The monks generally leave their temple before sunrise with their alms bowls. You will be transferred to a nearby temple area in order to take part in this fascinating tradition.
You will be picked up from your hotel at around 5.30am and transferred to your nearest temple, where you can experience this tradition. Food is provided to donate to the monks and your guide will explain how to take part in the alms giving process.
You will need to remove your shoes, lower your upper body and put your palms together in front of your chest (what is called the "Wai") to make the monks understand you want to offer alms. You will be blessed in return and wished for great fortune.
At the end of this Buddhist ritual, you will be driven back to your hotel where you should return by 7.30am.
