Private Tour: Full-Day Unknown Bangkok Canals Tour

Bangkok, Thailand

Not many know that the canals of Bangkok are a source of infinite exploration possibilities beyond the standard Klong tour. This Bangkok canal tour dives deeper into the cultural and way of life of Bangkokians who still call the canals their ‘home’.

Your guide and driver for the day will be waiting for you in your hotel lobby at approximately 8am. From here, they will bring you to the main boat pier along the Chao Phraya River. Your long tail boat for the day and its driver are eagerly waiting to show you the lesser-known side of Bangkok’s water ways.

Start the journey crossing over to the other side of the Chao Phraya River to a Chinese Shrine near Wat Anongkharam. The Shrine is established over 200 years ago during Thonburi period and has maintained as much of its glory and amazing decorative items at the time of its construction.

We embark back onto the boat and sail upstream to the site of where the Queen Mother resided until her passing; to commemorate her, the house has turned into a memorial museum with artifacts and displaying her immense dedication to serve the people of Thailand as good as she can.  We follow the river banks and enter the Wat Santa Cruz, with references to the time the Portuguese entered the former kingdom of Siam.

After this visit, we walk around the surrounding village of Kudi Chin where we admire the finer traits of how old baking techniques are used to make bread and snacks. We head back to our boat and continue our journey to Wat Rakang. This was the former house of King Rama I and with its unique, triplex scripture hall more than 200 years old; this is a hidden gem that many visitors do not know about.

Without seeing more of the area, this excursion would not be complete – there are a few historical sites around the temple that we will include (time depending). Your journey ends at the Phatravadee Theatre, a small theatre that is commonly used for private Thai classical performances with a beautiful location along the river. Here is where the Supatra River House is located – one of the finer Thai restaurants along the Chao Phraya River, where lunch will be served.

After a Thai set lunch, we board our long tail boat and sail back to our starting point of the day where our driver awaits your arrival and will bring you back to your booked hotel in the heart of Bangkok. We expect to be back at your hotel at around 3pm.
