Shore Excursion: Full-Day Bangkok City Tour from Laem Chabang

There’s so much more to Bangkok than shopping and nightlife. This full-day tour takes you to two major landmarks, plus hidden treasures that reveal the city’s ancient Buddhist culture. Start with the must-see Grand Palace and Wat Pho. Then, it’s off the usual tourist trail and into hidden communities carrying out traditional craftsmanship, and on to an exhibition of rare historical relics.

You will be met by your guide upon your morning arrival at Laem Chabang Port. From here, you will travel approximately 2-hours to Bangkok.

Take on Bangkok’s eclectic range of local transport options with this full-day of sightseeing around the city. Jump on the skytrain, tuk-tuk, underground or local taxi to the Saphan Taksin Pier on the Chao Phraya River. From here, take the ferry to Bangkok’s most sacred Buddhist site: the Grand Palace. This famous landmark offers some stunning examples of classic Thai-Buddhist architecture, including dozens of pagodas, stupas, statues and temple houses. The most-visited place here is Wat Phra Kaew within the same grounds, home to the incredibly valuable Emerald Buddha that dates back to the 14th century.

Just as spectacular as the Grand Palace is Wat Pho. Follow your guide’s lead to the main building, housing an enormous 160 foot Reclining Buddha, depicted in his final state of illness. Next up is Wat Suthat temple, best known for its giant red swing outside. Explore the temple grounds after your short drive across the Old Town in the back of a local tuk-tuk.

After lunch at a local restaurant, head onward to see the interesting work done inside a Buddha statue factory and also the ‘House of Bowls’, where locals have crafted alms bowls for monks for over 300 years. The walking tour takes you on to see Wat Saket; also known at the ‘Golden Mount’, this temple is set atop a man-made hill, with the short climb to the top affording some excellent views across town. Back down, there’s time for once last visit to the Rattanakosin Exhibition Hall, a museum highlighting some of the historical treasures of the Rattanakosin Era.

Once the day is complete, you’ll return to Laem Chabang Port safely.
