Barbados Shore Excursion: Carlisle Bay Shipwreck Snorkel Adventure

Barbados, Barbados

While you’re in port in Barbados, take a snorkeling cruise by pontoon boat to Carlisle Bay to snorkel over shipwrecks! This 2-hour adventure takes you to a marine park, where you can feed tropical fish and swim with sea turtles before relaxing over lunch and rum punch at the Jolly Roger Tavern. Port pickup and drop-off are included in this small-group shore excursion, limited to 20 people.

When your cruise ship arrives in Barbados, you’ll be met at the port and led to your pontoon boat for your cruise to Carlisle Bay, a small harbor with a marine park that’s popular with divers and snorkelers for the many sunken ships that dot the ocean floor.

Travel over five fascinating shipwrecks, such as the Bajan Queen, stopping twice along the way to snorkel in search of relics like anchors and cannon balls. You can also swim with sea turtles and feed the fish before heading back to shore to refuel with lunch and cool drinks.

At the Jolly Roger Tavern, choose from a menu that includes burgers and chicken tenders, as well as macaroni pie, steamed vegetables and rice. Be sure to try a glass of the famous Jolly Roger rum punch before your shore excursion ends with return to the port.

Worry-free Shore Excursion:
We will ensure your timely return to the Barbados port for this activity. In the rare event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. One of the best experiences on our 7 night Caribbean cruise, Barbados was also our favourite island_br/_ Everything was perfect about this tour from start to end. The pick-up from the cruise ship terminal by the friendly, charismatic and knowledgeable bus driver Tyria. Then the snorkeling trip stopped at two spots in Carlisle Bay, the first for turtle viewing, the second to observe two shipwrecks. There was 2 hours after the snorkeling to then relax on debatedly one of the best beaches on the island. Beach chairs and umbrellas, delicious style buffet lunch and drinks included in the price. Amazing value for money and outstanding staff going the extra mile.

Not what we expected. First, voucher from Viator showed start at 11am with pickup to be met at pier on pier. Ship arrived at 10am and allowed passengers of at 10:20. We walked along pier looking for Black Pearl as noted. When we couldn't find, we asked info in shore pavillion. They directed us to leave pavillion thru another gate and we would find Black Pearl. We followed instructions and another security person told us they would be outside terminal gate, about another 1/4 mile away. We are not fast walkers and arrived at location at 10:45 to hear bus had left. We paid for taxi to take us to their location. Two other women were on tour and booked directly thru Black Pearl and their confirmation said to be there 30 minutes early. They arrived at 10:40, and bus left without waiting for us. We then found we were going on rusty old party boat and had to enter by walking out into ocean and climbing aboard since they do not have a dock to enter boat as we expected and all other boats going snorkling in same area had. We are in mid 70's and I made it onboard first time but my wife did not. She tried twice and boat bounced throwing her into ocean. With the help of a bystander, she made it on 3rd try. She suffered several bruises to legs but was able to continue. Snorkling and trip was fine and we arrived back at their location to get prepaid lunch and return to ship. Lunch was poor, dry roasted chicken, cold canned corn, and fairly good macaroni and cheese. We were done with lunch before 2pm but were then told we would have to wait for return trip until 3pm. We were offered several cocktails which made wait passable, but entire trip did not meet up to high standards we have found with Viator on many past trips.

They picked us up took up out and let us swim as long as we wanted. Our guide was professional and knowledgable about the area and he had a cooler full drinks. He brought us back we ate and instead of just saying by to us took us back to the beach and aranged a ride back to the ship by taxi for us.
