This tour did not begin in Barcelona. We were emailed a train ticket to make our own way to Madrid, where a taxi dropped us off at a hotel. We spent the rest of the day waiting for the tour people to contact us. We had a brief meeting in the lobby and we were left on our own until pickup the next morning. The next day we had a half day tour of Madrid and then we were own our own until the 3rd morning when the real tour began. From then on the tour was great, although not enough time in Toledo.

I took this tour in Sept 2015. It was overall a good experience, but there were some unexpected conflicts that took away from our trip. The tour is run by a large Spanish tour operator, rhymes with goulia. Our tour as described on this site was not what we got. We expected to stay one day in Madrid on day 1 and then leave the next morning to Cordoba. Instead the tour operator changed the itinerary without notifying us, with plans to spend 2 nights in Madrid, thus shifting the WHOLE itinerary over by one day. Needless to say this cause a HUGE scheduling conflict with the rest of our trip. After calling the tour operator headquarters to notify them of their mistake they took NO ownership of the itinerary switch, acting as if it was our problem. Instead the manager Alicia blamed the schedule conflict on Viator, which I don't believe was the case. The saving grace in all of this was that our tour escort Josep was AMAZING. He did his best to help us arrange the appropriate transfers to make our travel plans possible. Alicia did not want to pay for our transfer, but Josep was able to get the company to cover the cost. Aside from the itinerary change, the tour was really lovely. You have a tour escort who takes you from place to place, and at each location you get a licensed guide for the particular attractions you will be visiting. My only other point of contention is the hotels. The hotel in Madrid, the Husa Princessa, was not very good, about a 2.5 star in my opinion. The hotel in Seville, Melia, was excellent 4 star and the hotel in Granada was also 2.5 star. Overall the trip was interesting and more or less well planned, aside from the huge itinerary blunder by the operator. I would recommend though once you book to call the operator and insist on the itinerary schedule before your trip. I would also recommend to upgrade your hotels as this is also an option for a bit more money.
