Barcelona Shore Excursion: Best of Barcelona Small-Group Tour - Skip the Line at La Sagrada Familia

Barcelona, Spain

While you are in port in Barcelona, explore the best of this exquisite Catalan city on this shore excursion. This sightseeing tour includes skip-the-line access at La Sagrada Familia, where the long lines can often make a day in port very frustrating. Your guide will also show you more of the city’s iconic sights like the hill of Montjuïc and the Gothic Quarter. If a half-day tour isn’t enough, upgrade to the full-day tour to also visit Park Güell and La Pedrera. On this small-group tour, you'll receive personalized attention from your guide.

Your day in Barcelona will be well-spent on this sightseeing shore excursion, which includes skip-the-line access at La Sagrada Familia. After you meet your guide, drive up to Barcelona's Montjuïc hill, the site of the 1992 Olympics. After a brief stop at the Catalunya National Art Museum, continue to Plaça Espanya and past the modernist buildings of the Eixample area.

Drive through Passeig de Gracia, home to Barcelona’s renowned Antonio Gaudí buildings – La Pedrera and Casa Batlló. Then stop at the Hospital de Sant Pau, one of the greatest symbols of the modernist architecture in Barcelona and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

When you reach La Sagrada Familia, one of the most well-known and popular attractions in Spain, you’ll skip the long lines that are often very long. Your guide will lead you straight inside this magnificent structure for a guided tour.

You’ll then head to the oldest part of Barcelona, the Gothic Quarter, where you’ll stroll through the narrow streets of medieval Barcelona. From there, visit the Jewish Quarter, the Royal Palace and the 2,000-year-old Roman temple.

Continue to the Born district and Santa Maria del Mar church, one of the most beautiful in Barcelona, where your tour ends.

Upgrade:
Upgrade to the full-day tour to include guided visits to two of Antoni Gaudi’s most fabulous sites – Park Güell and La Pedrera. You’ll tour the famous city garden and visit the interior of La Pedrera.

Great walking tour of the old part of Barcelona and then got in the van to go to Sagrada Familia. We were so glad we took this tour and got to go in the church. What an amazing thing to see!! The last part of the trip with the drive to the Montjuic hill was ok. Tour guide gave a great recommendation for lunch where we had Paella and Sangria after the half day tour ended.

Our tour guide was incredible my people... and the church was a site. The walking tour part was a bit too long for my family and could have been accomplished in 1/2 the time. While our guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant - next time we might have just done a church tour and explored on our own. Make sure your family is up for a long history filled walk before you sign up. If you are, then this is a great option!

Michael is an amazing guide. His love for his city is apparent, and his joy in sharing it with us was so obvious. His knowledge of the city and La Sagrada Familia is amazing. We truly enjoyed the tour!

This was a great tour. We covered a ton of ground and our tour guide, Judith was excellent. She was well informed and made the subject matter very interesting. Sagrada Familia was the highlight of the tour and doing a skip-the-line tour of any kind here is worth the price. Additionally, i found that having a guide here was crucial. It is a truly fascinating place and a large part of the experience was being able to learn the background of what we were seeing. Additionally, the walking tour of the gothic quarter and the visit to Parc Guell was excellent. I enjoyed La Pedrera, but would have preferred to skip this and spend more time at Parc Guell. This is the only thing I would change. The small group dynamic enabled us to cover way more ground than we otherwise would have been able to.

Our guide Camillo was extremely knowledgeable about history, art, architecture, and had a great command of the English language. He was very kind and helpful to me when I needed to avoid stairs. He also has a great sense of humor.

We booked the tour to pick us up and drop us off at the cruise ship. My wife were the only ones from our ship, so they had a cab waiting for us and then arranged for a cab to bring us back_br/_ Josef was our tour guide and as the BEST!! He was extremely knowledgeable, organized and very passionate!!_br/_ We highly recommend this tour company and tour. We had a fabulous time. Thanks for the wonderful experience

La Sagrada is not to be believed. After viewing the church from the exterior we were given 1-1/2 hours to tour the interior on our own. I thought that this was going to be too much time, but it turned out to be too little. There is so much to see and read. The models of very sections of the church were marvelous. It is hard to believe that they will actually complete the structure before the 100 year celebration in 10 years. We later viewed an apartment structure and a failed residential development by Gaudi. He was amazing! We saw other areas of Barcelona, but a shore excursion is not nearly enough time to view this city. We had some free time for lunch and tried one of the local restaurants the guide suggested. The tapas were very good.

Barcelona is amazing. There's so much to see and the tour guide, Josep, took us on a whirlwind experience on the highlights of Barcelona. The sights in Barcelona are breathtaking and this tour will allow you to get a glimpse of this within a short few hours. Would definitely recommend.

Joseph was an amazing guide. He was the best guide we had all week on our Mediterranean cruise. He was a true local- his family has been in Barcelona for 400 years! He was enthusiastic, interesting, and his main goal was for us to enjoy our day. He went out of his way to make sure we had a good time and were safe. He basically stopped in the middle of the crosswalk to make sure we all safely crossed the street. He gave us genuine recommendations of where to eat. I had the best meal on the trip thanks to Joseph. Although, we didn't have a lot of time at Park Guell, we got to see 3 of Guadi's masterpieces.. La Padrera, Sagrada Familia, and the Park. To fully experience the park, you need at least 2-3 hours. Since our tour was several days after the terrorist attack at las Ramblas , we were to see the Sagrada familia last as opposed to first due to a special mass that was taking place until 3pm. There was only 4 of us from the Norwegian Epic doing the tour so we were nervous getting back to the boat on time by 5pm. Joseph reassured us it wasn't going to be a problem and kept the group on time to make sure we got back to our boat. Ideally, it would have been great to have Joseph come inside the Sagrada Familia with us to explain the inside. But he did an amazing job explaining the various facades of the cathedral. It is the one thing not to miss in Barcelona. We only had about a half hour to explore the inside, which was enough time. Joseph met us promptly at 430pm and got us a taxi the taxi fare was included in the ticket and we were at the port terminal by 4:50pm. Joseph went above and beyond to make sure we saw everything and had a fantastic experience. I highly recommend this tour especially to people who are in Barcelona on a cruise just for 1 day.

Great tour. Barcelona is an incredible city and our guide Camillio was very good about giving us all the history and interesting side bits about the city. The gothic quarter is simply amazing. The La Sagrada Familia is not describable. It is simply awesome. We enjoyed this tour and the city very much and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Engaging tour guide, Carlotta. Small group. The day was hot and we covered a lot of ground. Highlight was walking tour and Sagrada visit, note you won and #39;t have time or access to visit the towers (this was a highlight of mine on a previous visit).

The guide was informative but was very hard to hear and far too many people to get through this large city. Perhaps too much time spent on too few locations.

A great introduction tour to the city. Our guide was able to give us a great sense of the feel of the history of what we were seeing. Whether during our visit to la Sagrada Familia or the walk through the gothic quarter, were transported in time to the epochs represented by the buildings that we saw._br/_ The knowledge and professionalism demonstrated by the guide enhanced our visual intake, providing a complete historical journey._br/_ The logistics of the tour were as advertised.

Booked the tour with port pick up and drop off. We were at the port taxi/bus station first thing in the morning at 6:45am. Waiting till 7:30am which was the latest pick up time they listed, we asked around to see where our pick-up driver was, with no prevail we asked one of the guides/pick up person to help us call their office to see what happened to our pick up. We didn't even know if their office is open but good thing it was, it was the only way to contact them. The office ended up telling us to grab a taxi and get to their office/meet up spot by ourselves and they will pay us back for the taxi ride. The taxi ride costed less than 15 we paid about 20 more per person for this pick up drop off service. We could have book the tour with no pick up and just taxi there way cheaper than what we paid, which I will talk about later, see end of review for this. Luckily we got to the meetup/office right before they were about to leave. My group and I were so frustrated and I was very unhappy about this. What a bad way to start a tour in a city that I dreamed of visiting. They offered a refund to us if we opt to switch to no pick up and drop off which means they won't pay us this 15 and we will need to find our way to get back to port. We worried that we won't be able to flag down a taxi to get back to port so we didn't and I regret not opting out See the end of my review to find out why

This was a good tour but our groups/guide had a little trouble keeping the group together as we had to park fairly far away from what we saw and the streets were busy. especially the Cathedral Re - entrance to the Cathedral was not allowed if you stepped outside the gate and I wish that would have been mentioned up front. We saw the grotto and gift store but ran across the street to use a restroom. We had 30 minutes left but were not allowed back in the gate. Too much time had been allotted anyway - at least an hour and 10 minutes or so for this once place that was super congested.

Very well done. Great highlights - La Sagrada Familia, Gothic Quarter, Olympic Point. Gloria was very informative and courteous. It was a very crowded day in Barcelona Catalonia National Daybut Gloria was very effective in steering us around crowds. Just enough time at each location. Ensured that we were able to get back to the ship by providing a taxi.

Absolutely a PERFECT tour of the Best of Barcelona. Our guide, Gloria, was fantastic! She was both knowledgable and excited to tell us all about her city. The sites were also fantastic, from the Montjiuc hill and the Gothic and Jewish Quarters, to the unmatched La Sagrada Familia, we enjoyed every second of the day. We also thoroughly enjoyed eating lunch on our own at one of the Tapas restaurants Gloria recommended - Bilbao Berria. Finally, let me say how much I loved the city of Barcelona. It is beautiful, historic, clean, and not overly crowded. I will be back. Thanks again, Gloria!! You were one of the best tour guides we have ever had.

The WORST tour I ever took. The tour guide very un-professional he was making fun of me behind my back in front of my little boy. He was very unforgiving person!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though i was late which also NOT my fault, I paid to be pick up from the cruise ship, the guy who supposed to pick me up went to difference port. I was waiting for them for over an hour and at the last 20 minutes, I decided to take taxi to the office and I had to spent another 40 euros for this round trip and ended up quitting my tour half day. Because he tour guide lie to me about my time returning to my ship, and that he called my cruise which he DID NOT. He should be fire from doing this tour. DON'T TAKE THIS TOUR WITH THIS GUY!!!!!!!!! Take the tour with someone else unfortunately I don't remember his name which is very good, I don't want to remember anything about his tour at all!!!!!!!.... This tour is the worst tour I ever took in my whole entire life!!!!!!! I paid a fortune for this tour, in total of 31340 euros round trip taxi back to the port because he lied

This is one of the favorite Tourist sights I have ever seen. I think you could go here everyday and find something new. I will never use the word gaudy to describe something tacky. He is right up there with MIcheangelo in terms of artistic genius. Our tour guide was very nice and smart. I only wish we could have been picked up at our cruise ship and gone right on the tour instead of transferring in the city.

Our top priority for our Barcelona visit was to go inside the La Sagrada. We had seen a television documentary about this amazing place, but our cruise ship did not provide a tour of the inside, instead their tours just did a drive by. Our travel agent then told us about Viator, and we will always use Viator in the future. The pickup from our ship was easy and on time. Our guide was extremely interesting and knowledgable, and went out of her way for everyone in our group of 8.

I was never able to get to the tour. The ship arrived later than expected and none of the of the contact numbers on my confirmation sheet, including the emergency number were monitored. Now that I see the size of that port, I think it is unreasonable to think anyone could be at the front gate unless the ship was overnighted there and had the day in port. Consider offering an afternoon option.

We really liked the tour leader Gemma. She was friendly and knowledgeable and gave just the right amount of detail. The tour has a walking part that is at least an hour so that might be helpful for some to know. There is quite a bit of walking overall. Skipping the lines at both sites was a definite plus.
