Discover the city in a different way on a guided bike tour from a native point of view through the main contemporary art galleries of the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona, using a sustainable, enjoyable, fast and fun way of moving as it is the bicycle. Discover the cultural and artistic side of Barcelona and engage in cultural events, gallery openings and art exhibitions!

Begin your route by the old city departing from the trendy brewery Fàbrica Moritz and going straight to visit our first gallery named Trama, founded in 1991 the place emerged as a derivation of the Sala Parés, Barcelona 's oldest active gallery inaugurated in 1877, in order to expose contemporary artists with an established career but also emerging ones, from diverse backgrounds and nationalities. 

After Trama you will head to the prominent Senda, a contemporary art space and artistic producer who works with emerging and established artists, using a typology of very different practices where nationalities, generations and aesthetics are mixed in a sort of eclecticism. Although in your way to Senda you will see pieces and learn about important Catalan artists an the public art they made specially for the city. Without forgetting to visit the only public piece made by Picasso in Barcelona, the Mediterranean Frieze. 

Your next stop is the Balaguer gallery. Founded in 2002, since the beginning is focused on the exhibition and promotion of contemporary art in different languages like painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, video and performance; the last one which they started a cycle of acting that take place every two months inside the gallery. Near Balaguer you will also contemplate and explain the secrets of an art piece from one of the most important Catalan artist in the 20th century: Antoni Tàpies, a tribute to the already mentioned artist from Malaga, Pablo Picasso.

After this stop it’s a break time, and you are invited to have a fresh Aigua de Moritz (0,0% alcohol beer) at the bar of the impressive archaeological site El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria.After charge your batteries in the charming bar of the cultural center we’ll stroll to one of the most relevant spaces dedicated to contemporary art in Barcelona, the Gaspar Foundation**, that  have been involved in the promotion of contemporary art in Barcelona for over 100 years, mainly with the legendary Sala Gaspar, where artists such as Picasso, Miró, Braque, Calder or Tàpies, among many others, exhibited.

Your last stop is to admire the astonishing piece Topo V, that the basque artist Eduardo Chilliada dedicated to the Catalan capital, placed at the King’s Square, heart of the old town. After the tour, you will ride back through the narrow and unique streets of this part of the city until Fàbrica Moritz and have a draft beer that invites the brewery.

Back there you will have the opportunity to have a relaxed chat with our guide, expert in contemporary art, and ask about the city and the galleries we just visited.
