Then, a nice short walk through the neighborhood of Gracia to the private culinary space where the catalán brunch or "esmorzar de forquilla" will be prepared. A “brunch” is a meal which combines “breakfast” and “lunch”, which originally comes from Anglo-Saxon countries and which people usually have on Sundays or holidays. But, have you ever heart about the "esmorzar de forquilla"? This is a very similar proposal which has existed in Catalonia for centuries, deeply integrated in rural areas. A Catalan brunch, is elaborated with local and seasonal products, in which the traditional “pan con tomate (bread with tomato) or the Catalan sausage called “botifarra” is always present.
The tour will start in fully equipped cooking space in Gràcia, a very popular neighborhood of Barcelona. From there you will have a short walk (around 15 min.) to the “Mercat de la Llibertat”. one of the most popular markets in Barcelona. In the market you will learn about seasonal and traditional products and you will buy some of the ingredients required for your Brunch.
Coming back to the cooking space, you will walk along the main street in Gràcia, where you will see beautiful buildings from early 20th. century.
Back in the cooking space, with your help the “esmorzar de forquilla” or Catalan brunch will be prepared. Once ready, you will enjoy the traditional catalán brunch paired with a glass of wine and a nice talk, in which you will learn about Spanish and Catalan traditions and food.
