Dali Figueres and Púbol Full-Day Tour
Barcelona, Spain
See a different side of the surrealist Catalan artist Salvador Dalí in this full-day guided tour. Explore Figueres, the small town where Dalí was born and spent most of his childhood, and visit the Dalí Museum which houses the most complete collection of the artist's work. Then head to Púbol and marvel at the Dalí-Gala Castle Museum-House, which was home to the artist and his wife and muse Gala – though not at the same time.
Get picked up from your Barcelona hotel or apartment at approximately 9am and hop into the private vehicle for the journey to Figueres, a small town near the French border and the birthplace of Salvador Dalí.
Explore the streets where Dali spent his early years, as well as some of the places he frequented as an adult. Then visit the Dalí Museum (own expense), which the artist designed himself on the ruins of an old municipal theater. This is the most complete collection of Dalí's work, and the museum itself is considered 'the largest surrealistic object in the world'.
Climb back into your vehicle and travel to Púbol, where you will visit the Dalí-Gala Castle Museum-House (Castell de Pubol). This magnificent building was home to Dalí and his wife and muse, Gala. Gala spent time at the castle every summer from 1971 to 1980, and Dalí agreed not to visit without her advance permission. When Gala died in 1982, Dalí moved into the castle himself for two years. Gala is buried at the castle inside a mausoleum crypt, designed by Dalí.
At the end of the tour you will be driven back to your hotel, arriving at approximately 7pm.
Absolutely amazing tour, and tour guide! Small group was lovely, as we were really able to engage with out guide, who was extremely knowledgeable about the area. This tour was my husband's favorite part of our 3 week trip, he still raves about it!
