Dali Museum Day Trip from Barcelona by High-Speed Train with Optional Girona Tour

Barcelona, Spain

Journey through the mind of Salvador Dalí on this day trip to the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, departing from Barcelona. Dalí's provocative work has always sparked conversation, now enter this museum, conceived and designed by Dalí himself, and experience his works on a new level that will leave you speechless. Your guide will take you through the museum while narrating what you see. Your tour includes round-trip transport by high-speed train and the option to stop in the historical town of Girona.

Start your day with an early morning pickup from your central Barcelona hotel. Take a comfortable eco-taxi from your hotel to the Barcelona Sants railway station, then board a high-speed train to Figueres. On arrival, after almost an hour, hop into an air-conditioned minivan and cruise over to the unique Dalí Theatre-Museum, which displays the largest and most diverse collection of works by Salvador Dalí, the core of which is from the artist's personal collection.
Delve into the world of one of the most extraordinary minds of the 20th century as your guide illuminates the broad range work in a museum conceived and designed by Dalí himself. Experience the bizarre 3-dimensional anamorphic living room installation with custom furniture that looks like the face of Mae West when viewed only from one spot. Bend your mind around holographic art and raise your brow at a beautiful collection of jewelry designed by Dalí. See the glass geodesic dome cupola that crowns the stage of the old theater and look down to where Dalí is buried in a crypt below the stage floor.
After, hop back on the train and return to Barcelona. Alternatively, if you've upgraded, continue to the 2,000-year-old town of Girona, approximately halfway back to Barcelona.
Wander through medieval streets over the footprints of Iberians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Jews and Christians as you make your way to the Old Town. Pop into El Call, the Jewish Quarter, where Jews lived for six centuries under their own laws until 1492. View the rows of red, orange and yellow buildings that line along the banks of the Onyar River.
Following the remaining train ride, arrive at central Barcelona where your tour concludes.

From start to finish, this tour was perfection. We were met at the hotel at precisely the time given to us by the tour company. They took us to the train station in which someone was waiting for us when the ride dropped us off. They gave us the tickets to the train and made sure we boarded it correctly. The tour guide introduced herself on the train and guided us step by step. Because this was not a bus tour, the number of people was smaller. We had only ten. The tour guide gave us a thorough tour of the museum and they gave us free time to further explore. We signed up for the Girona tour as well. The others on our tour only stayed for the museum part. So we basically had only my wife and I on that tour. The tour guide was very informative, friendly, easy to talk to, and personable and we thought out of our time in Barcelona, this was the highlight of our trip. Our guide who was great was named Jessica Casanovas. I would highly recommend her.

This trip was worth the . The company is very well organized and the people are very friendly. We originally booked the tour with the Optional Girona tour, but once the day arrived we decided it might be best to skip the second part and head back to Barcelona to get ready for our flight back the next morning. Jessica, our guide, was amazing at getting our tickets changed for the train so we could go directly back to Barcelona. She also was very knowledgable about Dali and the surrounding area. She made the tour of the museum and the area memorable and worth the trip. I didn't really know anything about Dali before this trip, but now I am a fan. The high speed train was also a neat experience and glad we made the trip. Again, I can't say enough good things about this company and their organizational skills and also about Jessica. Her help was greatly appreciated and made two teenagers very happy!!!

This was far and away the best tour I have ever been on. Dali is such a complicated and amazing individual. The tour guide Jessica had such passion and really gave proper context to his works. It was so good, I would go back.

We were picked up promptly at our Hotel and guided to the fast train, from Barcelona to Figueres, where we were met by our incredibly knowledgeable guide Laura. Dali was a complex genius and Laura made him come to life with her explanations of all we saw. Then on to Girona, a beautiful town With Game of Throne locations as an extra. This is a tour not to be missed!

This day trip on the high-speed train from Barcelona was a highlight of our trip. Everything was so well organized, with pick up from our hoteland getting us to the train station. Our guide, Jessica, was knowledgeable, friendly and delightful -- a real superstar of guides. The Dali Museum was out-of-this-world, with our guide filling us in on so many stories about Dali and Gala. We also did the optional Girona tour and were amazed by all of the history contained in this ancient walled city -- as well as recognizing many locations used to film key scenes in Game of Thrones. This was such a wonderful contrast to the hustle and bustle of Barcelona. I would highly recommend making time for this tour.

World class tour: efficient transport and excellent guide, Jessica, in Figueres and Girona legs. The Dali Museum is mind-blowing and Girona is a beautiful and special city. This is definitely the best way to experience in so much in one day.

This was a truly amazing day. A taxi picked us up from our hotel, and took us to the railroad station in Barcelona were we were met by a guide who presented us with access to the one hour high speed train to spend a wonderful few hours at the Dali Museum. Our guide at the Dali Museum was a wonderful speaker and very knowledgeable about Dali's life. We were given a full lecture of the inspiration and the symbolism of Dali's work for about an hour and a half, at which time we had an additional half hour to explore the museum on our own. Dali picked a theater that had suffered a very bad fire in the late 1800's , install his works. Truly a very interesting museum in itself. Whether you enjoy Dali's work or not, for any art lover, this is a place you should visit. The gift shop is wonderful too.

One of the best tours we've ever taken! We were literally treated like royalty from start to finish picked up at hotel by cab met at rail station, given rail tickets, taken to rail boarding platform met on train by Jessica, or fantastic tour guide, who transferred with us to vans that took us to the museum. Jessica led us on a wonderful, informative, entertaining tour of the entire museum, which added far more to the experience and appreciation of Dali than we possibly could have gotten on our own. She escorted us back to the van and onto the train for our return to Barcelona. All we had to do was grab a cab back to our hotel. Could not have been more pleased.

We had a wonderful experience using Viator tours in Barcelona. A taxi picked us up at the hotel and delivered us to the train station where there was a representative waiting for us. The taxi showed up right on time and the representative that greeted us showed us where we could get breakfast while she waited for the other people touring with us. She showed us where to the gate was to get the train and told us that another representative would meet us on the train. She advised us what stop to get off of the train in case anything went wrong. The second representative came to our seats and greeted us. She was a wonderful tour guide! She was so knowledgeable and insightful about Dali and his life. What a wonderful experience! We used Viator for another tour in Spain and one in Rome and the experience was great. I highly recommend touring with Viator!

This was a great trip and it all worked smoothly from the taxi pickup at our hotel , to the meet and greet at the train station. The actual museum tour was also fantastic and our guide was full of information and insight to Dali's life. She also provided us with local info on getting back to our hotel from train station in Barcelona. Would highly recommend to anyone - we didn't do the optional Girona tour due to time limitations.

Everything on the tour was first rate, from the cab ride to the train ride to the museum docent, to the museum itself. Wish I could remember the docents name.....she was terrific!

We had a fabulous tour. Our guide, Jessica was very charming, knowledgeable and accommodating. She did a fabulous job explaining Dali and all the symbolism with his pieces. The museum itself was fascinating and the jewel collection is not to be missed. The tour of Girona was also very interesting and Jessica helped us explore the city in a way we could not have done by ourself.

Highly recommend. Our guide, Jessica, provided the perfect tone and sence of humor needed to discuss Dali. Im not a huge fan or guided tours but this company was excellent. Again, highly recommend and suggest avoiding Julia Tour Group company.

Excellent trip from Barcelona to the countryside of Spain. Train ride was about 1 hours with one stop along the way. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and kept the attention of our 15 yr old daughter. Exterior funky building design makes sense once you hear more about Dali's early childhood. Jewelry tour should not be missed, some very impressive pieces.

Very enjoyable trip -- the high-speed train was a very efficient way to get there, too._br/_ The guide was knowledgeable and her comments added to our enjoyment of Dali's art._br/_ Plus, as a disabled person, the museum's available wheelchair made my visit better, even though there were a number of short staircases to navigate._br/_ Thanks!

Great tour! Organized pickup and travel to Dali Museum and back to Barcelona. Jessica our tour guide was awesome -- really knowledgeable, easy to understand, and passionate about Dali and his work. Her delivery imparted knowledge in an engaging and fun way through interesting storytelling. Although necessary to understand Dali's attitude toward sex to explain his art and life, I would warn parents that there is some explicit sexual content and information in the audio tour. My only wish was that if not heading on to Girona, there was about an hour to explore the area around the museum and eat lunch before heading back to Barcelona.

Museum had many rooms and floors to explore.well woth it._br/_ we then went to Girona and had lunch in the main squarewhere we had appetizer , chicken dessert and a bottle of wine for two for 30 euro.we then proceeded on a walking tour of the town and Cathedral which did involve a good deal of walking ,but was also very interesting

Dali is one of my favorite artists, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go on this tour. We opted for the additional Girona Tour. When we arrived at the train station, things were a little confusing and we sat around for a while, but once we got there and got organized, it was great. Our guide was very informative and could answer the random questions we had. She was also very patient and was able to keep track of the small group that sometimes went at different paces. There are some museums where I like to go and just soak everything in, but I really liked the background and history she gave us as we walked around and spoke of a subset of the many works that are in the Dali museum. It was very hot when we went, so the Girona tour mostly outdoors was not ideal for us that day, but that's no one's fault. We stopped to get Gelato to cool off a couple of times. I would definitely recommend this tour, but the areas I would recommend for improvement would be to provide a little more detail in the instructions/itinerary and to get more comfortable ear pieces. I had to take mine out a few times because my ears were in pain from the plastic rubbing in them.

This was so much fun! Dali was so weird!! Our guide, Carla, was wonderful. She was funny, engaging and really knew her stuff. We were very fortunate to have her. She made Dali come alive for us. And we did the Gerona tour too, walking the old streets and visiting old churches as well as getting to know more contemporary Gerona. What an amazing old city! What history!!

Absolutely fabulous! Laura was a great tour guide and really made the trip come alive. We went with the full day option and are glad we did. I cannot imagine enjoying the museum without her wonderful descriptions and stories. Everything went so smoothly. The Barcelona Guide Bureau is an extremely organized tour host and we are so glad to have booked them through Viator.

My father and I had a great time on this trip and learned so much. It was quite a journey taking the speed train and taxis to get where we had to go, but everything was very well-organized. There were about 17 people total on the tour, and Jessica was a great tour guide. She is very intelligent, speaks great English, and is a sweet woman. She guided us around the Dali museum, and then we took the train Girona, where she gave us a walking tour of the city. It was a beautiful town, and was definitely worth the visit.

A brilliant tour, Jessica was a great guide and we learnt a lot about Dali's life. The museum is well worth a visit. The transport was very well organised, the only problem we had was on the return to Barcelona when our seat reservations didn't correspond with actual seats ! but the train guard helped us find new seats.

This entire experience was amazing! The museum itself is stunning and the history is so well explained by out tour guide, Laura. She was so knowledgeable which made the tour even more enjoyable. The trip there was great, although it is a guided tour your not lead around like cattle. At the museum you can either follow with the group or explore for yourself. I highly recommend putting this on the To Do list when visiting Barcelona.

Family of four with two children aged 8 and 12 visiting Barcelona for the first time. _br/_ Very organized service, everything was on time and worked really well. The guide was interesting and had a lot of knowledge of Dali and I really enjoyed her enthusiasm. When I saw the line outside the Dali museum later in the day, I was happy we had opted for the day trip. The only thing I wish was different, was to have had more time alone after the guided tour of the museum, we had less than an hour, more like forty minutes and I wish we had more time to explore alone. _br/_ All in all, we are very pleased with the experience.

The museum is certainly interesting, and the experience was greatly rewarding due to the very knowledgeable tour guide. She not only provided explanation for the exhibits, but also told us relevant stories of the Dali's life, and provided exhaustive answers to our questions. Same guide took us to Girona, and that also was very satisfying. Highly recommend this guide and the tour.

This was a brilliant tour although not really suitable if you have limited mobility. The walking of tour of Gerona while at a relaxed pace involves lots of steps. Several people had to stop at a meeting point half way through. Our guide Jessica was beyond excellent. She was warm, friendly, funny and very knowledgable. The whole experience was well managed and slick. You must do this tour !!
