This tour is an absolute must. Our guide Ferran was _br/_ extremely knowledgeable without information overload. He made both Monserrat and Sitges a highlight of our stay in Spain. _br/_ Thank you Ferran - outstanding tour, a memorable experience especially the hike down from the Monastery.

The day trip to Montserrat and Sitges from Barcelona was well worth it. Ferran, our guide and driver, patiently answered our questions, just about anything that came to mind. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and very attentive. Unfortunately, we were not able to see the Virgin of Monserrat at the basilica due to the crowds and long queue.

Excellent tour guide. Was somewhat disappointed in the commercialism at Montserrat.

What a great day trip! Ferran was very knowledgeable about all of the sites and was a great guide. Montserrat and Sitges are both truly beautiful. The only comment I will make was easy hike meant a 45min downhill hike. The hike was not hard, but it was longer than we had initially thought and it was a bit steeper. Would highly recommend this tour!

Although we travel extensively, this was our first experience with Viator and I must admit that it was the absolute best tour program weve ever experienced. Ferran, the Tour Guide, was simply outstanding. He was extremely knowledgeable, displayed a genuine care for his customers, and executed a world class tour to Montserrat and Sitges. He actually got us into the upper chamber of the alter area at Montserrat to see the Black Madonna up close. Besides being a GREAT tour Guide, the entire group of us throughly enjoyed being in company with Ferran. Because of this wonderful experience, we will use Viator again in the future and strongly recommend Viator to all others.

Our tour guide was fabulous. He gave factual information about the sites without any color commentary or bias. He walked slowly so the whole group could stay together. Going after New Year's was a plus because it was not crowded at all. I would recommend the tour that includes Sitges-worth it.

Definitely a place to see. Our tour guide was good except he does not speak English well. It was raining and had to cancel the funicular ride and went to the museum instead. I think museum was a total waste of time.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience. There were only 3 of us on the tour so it was basically a private tour. Our guide, Ferran, was very knowledgeable of the history of the area and Spain. Timely pick up, great day. Would highly recommend it. We only had 1 day to tour before meetings, so this really made the trip.

great tour, we went on a Sunday and there was a bike race so we had to go around the mountain to the other entrance but the trip was awesome, learned alot about the area and the walk to the Black Madonna was very interesting. Sitges was also interesting, a nice way to finish the day, in a seaside resort with lots of sun.

Great to go with a small group in the early morning. Ferran was a terrific guide. The weather did not cooperate at Montserrat so we did not go up the funicular. Ferran gave us a couple of options to take it's place. We enjoyed going into the museum. Walk around Sitges after the rain cleared was relaxing and delightful. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Ferran spelling? was an absolutely incredible tour guide. It was just my family of 4 and one other person. I highly recommend this company. It is the best tour I have ever been on. He made it very custom, and we saw so many different places. If we come back to Spain we will definitely use this company again!

Our trip was amazing! Many Thanks to our guide Ferren, who made our trip a pleasant and enjoyable experience. I personally think that it was a brilliant idea to combine visit to the Monastery and coastal town of Sitges. History, easy workout, fun, and all in one day :

We were picked up from our hotel very promptly by Ferran who was a very friendly and knowledgable guide. Unfortunately the weather was against us as we had heavy rain so didnt see Montserrat in all its glory or indeed go on the cable car. However we still enjoyed our time in Montserrat. We then went to Sitges and had a lovely lunch overlooking the sea. After lunch Ferran took us on a walk round the old town before heading back along the coast to Barcelona. Would definitely recommend this tour while in Barcelona.

This tour is definitely a must-do! It was full of wonder and amazement. The monastery, mountains and scenery were breathtaking and our friendly and informative guide made sure that we didn't miss a thing. Sitges was a lovely way to round up our day. Appreciated the fact that we were in a small group.

Review by:   odile_bartlett,    August 2017 Review: 1 star rating: I do not recommend this
We had a good time visiting Montserrat. However, our guide was not very talkative and only explained things very briefly. We had 15 minutes to visit the church on our own. We were told not to bother to try to go in front of the black Madonna because it took too long and we didn't have time. The rest of the time in Montserrat was spent hiking which I could have done on my own. I was really looking forward to Sitges as it is one of my favourite places. We had an hour and 15 minutes to eat lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon with all the terraces full. There was a 30 minute tour of the old town planned but by then we were all exhausted and opted to just walk the beach for a little bit. I felt this tour was expensive for basically just a cab ride.

Fabulous! Jose was our guide and offered us choices during our tour. We were never rushed. Montserrat is a must see and I recommend this full day tour so you can experience the beautiful town of Sitges for lunch on the beach in the afternoon.

Highly recommend this tour with Ferrand. An excellent guide on a well paced tour that started in the hills and finished on the coast. By starting early in the day we were able to beat the crowds and heat on Montserrat. Great restaurants to choose from for lunch at Sitges. Ferrand explained the regional specialtites so took his advice and tried some of them. Enjoyed being able to return along the coast road._br/_ A great day out.

This was an amazing tour! Our guide was excellent as well as compassionate when my husband could not complete the hike, which Is easy for the fit person, but not for those with any health issues. My husband and I should have taken the cable car back down from the mountain viewing area, which was an option. Thanks to a kind fellow passenger and our amazing guide, the day and the tour were saved. The tour itself was well planned and well worth the time and cost.

Our guide, Ferran, was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable, helpful and had a good sense of humor. Montserrat was amazing and Sitges was a beautiful seaside resort where we had a nice lunch on the boardwalk at the beach. The only part of the tour that I felt was a bit understated was the ease of the walk down from the top of the mountain. It was downhill, but steep and slippery at times due to gravel on the pathway. This could be problematic for individuals with mobility issues. Overall this was an amazing tour and is highly recommended.

Review by:   Viktor P,    January 2017 Review: 2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better
Don't go there on a rainy, or even cloudy day, always check on a weather. We were not lucky, the visibility was almost zero, it was cold and windy this time in January, and we missed the greatest part of appeal of this place - its amazing views. The monastery itself was nice, but after we saw Meteora in Greece, it did not make such a great impression. Sitges were interesting, but for very short tour in a very small old town, with very expensive lunch, there was not really reason to spend time going there. It would be better to have just a half day tour to monastery for half price. Our guide was nice enough though.

Tour guide was lovely. Very nice and accommodating! Love that it was a small tour. Comfortable van. Was really happy to stop in sitges. Was way nicer than I expected. The time of year is cold but no crowds or lines at all. Was lovely!

Beauty cannot be explained but must be lived with the naked eye. And for that reason, Montserrat and Sitges are worth a visit!_br/_ Our tour guide Ferran arrived at our hotel at 8:15 am. My friend and I, we were the only ones. _br/_ On our way, Ferran took the time to explain the history of Barcelona and we also saw the official residence of the King and Queen of Spain during their visits to Barcelona._br/_ At our arrival to Montserrat, we went straight ahead to see the statue of the Virgin Mary and infant Chris. - Virgin/Lady of Montserrat must be seen. The reason of her color I wont share it because it is best to hear it from Ferran :-. Ferran allowed us to take our time inside the chapel, to put candles, etc. - Beating the long line its important if you want to enjoy everything. - _br/_ After we took the funicular ride to the top of the mountain and we had a breathtaking views of the valley. I took great panoramic pictures. _br/_ We went to Sitges, and Ferran recommended great restaurants. We ate at a restaurant called Yamuna, facing the sea. Amazing paella and great appetizers. - After Ferran explained the history of Sitges, why different street names, how it was built, the history of Bacardi, Cannon overlooking Sitges, listening the sound of the sea, Sitges film festival, etc. _br/_ Instead of going back to our hotel, Ferran was extremely nice to drop us to Plaça Espanya so we can witness the performance of the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc. - _br/_ ----- Montserrat and Sitges: Highly Recommend!!!! ------_br/_ P.S: Thank you Ferran for everything.

Our guide, Mark, picked us up at our hotel at the promised time. Two other couples joined us on the tour, with one couple willing to sit in the very back of a small van. The drive up to Montserrat is via a steep and winding road. Mark paid attention to driving and was silent until we parked. _br/_ This day the place was crowded early and we just made it in to see the Virgin before the 10:30 closure. The basilica is beautiful and very special to the deeply religious. There was no mention of the boy's choir. _br/_ The funicular to a high peak provided fantastic views. After that we took a hike to some ruins and traversed a very difficult path down. This was no easy hike. And it is more than a small amount of walking. In total, we walked more than 6 miles with just a half liter of water to drink. If I were to do this all over, I would have brought my back pack and extra water. _br/_ We arrived at Sitges--a beautiful seaside town --at 2:25 and were allowed an hour for lunch. This really was insufficient. _br/_ The walk around old town was information and pleasant. The return drive to Barcelona was quick and we arrived at our hotel around 5:30.

This full day tour was amazing!! The trip to Montserrat was fantastic! The mountain itself is a sight to be seen and the monastery is gorgeous inside and out!! I went with my two teenage daughters and they loved it! The funicular up the mountain is definitely something you should do, as the view from the top is spectacular you can see everything!! Also i would highly suggested walking down the mountain paths as our tour guide suggested as it is a very easy walk anyone could do it, and the scenery is definitely worth it. I would recommend this tour for families as everything is organised for you and it makes it really easy and enjoyable tour. Sitges is also a gorgeous place to see and have lunch, would definitely recommend going to see it!

Our guide was Mark. He arrived at our hotel pick-up promptly. Mark was friendly, informative, enaging and fun. We enjoyed the tour of Montserrat. The ride up the mountain to the monastery is beautiful. It was very interesting to see the basilica and the virgin with baby. The funicular ride to the top of the mountain offered breathtaking views of the valley. The hike down the mountain gave us a chance to imbibe our surroundings and take photos. We next went to Sitges, a beautiful coastal town. There we ate a wonderful cafe lunch of fideoua, followed by a stroll along the beach wall. Mark gave us an informative history of the town. We couldn't have asked for a better tour and day.

Awesome and beautiful trip! Our guide Ferrán was very informative, professional and patient. After the hotel pick-up, we began our journey to Montserrat. After visiting the monastery, we took the cable car to the top of the mountains. The views from the top are breathtaking. We hiked to some ruins on the side of a cliff, and then proceeded to hike downhill to the monastery, enjoying the landscape and sights 30 min hike. Bring comfortable shoes for the hike! After Montserrat, we went to Sitges, where we had lunch right along the beach. After lunch, Ferrán gave us a walking tour within the city, where we enjoyed the small and beautiful streets filled with shops and restaurants. Overall we had a great experience and we fully recommend this tour.

Absolutely wonderful! Me and my 2 boys went on the tour today along with 2 very nice ladies from Canada. Our tour guide Ferran, picked us up from our apartment at 8:15am sharp. With Ferran's perfect time keeping, we had beat the massive queue to the chapel at Montserrat. We managed to catch the boys choir too. We went to Sitges at about 1:30pm and were left with plenty of time to have lunch and explore near the seaside. My boys had great fun playing with the wave too. Ferran speaks perfect English and had explained well the history of the places. We were sent back to our apartment by 5pm. We felt like we had done a lot in a day. Highly recommended!

My mother and I were in Barcelona for a couple of days, and were very glad we went on this tour. Beautiful scenery, and like the description, easy on the knees. Our guide, Ferran, was very knowledgeable about both the monastery's history and the ins and outs of Sitges. He was also accommodating and extremely personable. The tour started and ended at a perfect time. We were able to get on the funicular and quietly enjoy the view from the top before all the crowds and tour buses arrived at Montserrat. Enjoyed a delicious lunch with a view of San Sebastia beach before walking through the quaint alleyways of Sitges' old town. And arrived back in Barcelona in time to make it to our dinner reservation. Our day was well spent!

This trip is an adventure for us! At our hotel, we were met by our guide, Ferran Mont Escape who took us to Montserrat in the morning. We were able to avoid the main crowd as we were early. Ferran is knowledgeable of the history and patiently explain and waited for us to enjoy Montserrat. We took the funicular to the top and from there, hike up to explore the other smaller chapels. The hike was moderately comfortable for us while the hike down was slightly slippery as we did not have proper footwear. If you are planning to do this, please wear appropriate hiking shoes due to the trails. The view was amazing! The weather was cool on that day, which make the hike perfect! Highly recommended! Ferran was great too! He was slowing his pace for us... After Montserrat, we went to Sitges and had the best fideua for the duration of our trip! Sitges is a lovely town. The walk along the promenade and the old town is charming. It is a picturesque seaside town. Overall, we had an enjoyable day. Thank you, Ferran!
