Get picked up at your hotel in Barcelona and head for Calella de Palafrugell. This day trip is private, so you’ll enjoy undivided attention from your knowledgeable guide throughout.
During the 90-minute drive to Costa Brava, learn about the life of Salvador Dalí and his connection to this part of Catalonia. Once in the village, stroll the streets and walk along the gorgeous coastline. Linger for a while in Cala El Golfet, a secluded cove just outside of the village and even consider going for a swim in the sea.
From there enjoy the 20-minute drive in the comfortable van to Peratallada, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Catalonia. Walk the streets and learn about its history as you pass by the soaring 13th-century Romanesque church as well as the castle that dominates the center of town. Cap your visit with a leisurely lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant.
After, head to the Dalí-Gala Castle Museum-House (Castell de Pubol), a 10-mile (17-km) drive away. It was here where Dalí spent his later years. Originally, Dalí’s wife, Gala, lived here and the artist himself promised he would not visit her there without her written permission. But after Gala passed away, Dalí moved in to the castle. Today it is an homage to the artist and his twisted surreal view of the world.
