Skip the Line Guided Walking Tour: Gaudi's Park Guell in Barcelona
Barcelona, Spain
Once you have encountered the outstanding beauty of Park Güell in Barcelona, no other park will ever amaze you quite as much. Led by a local guide, you’ll explore the park, see the most beautiful spots and hear many interesting facts about the park and its famous designer, Antoni Gaudi. Find out what makes the park so special, and enjoy stunning views of Barcelona from the park’s location on a hill.
Park Güell, an architectural marvel created by Antoni Gaudi in the early 1900s, was commissioned by Count Güell, who wanted Gaudi to design an elegant estate with family homes. But the housing development was unsuccessful and the space was instead turned into a public park. It’s an iconic feature of Barcelona that you don’t want to miss.
On this guided walking tour, enter Park Güell through the staircase dominated by a colorful dragon decorated with mosaic tiles; this Catalan style of mosaic is known as trencadís and is one of the most characteristic design styles in Barcelona. The park is arranged around a large central square bordered by a snaking, trencadís-covered bench.
Below the square, the roof of the lower court is supported by 86 Doric columns, with paths between them and viaducts on sloping columns. Gaudi’s work often united nature and architecture, and Park Güell is no different – the columns stand tall like trees.
Park Güell also contains a small house where Gaudi lived at one stage. The house has now been converted into a museum and contains interesting furniture also designed by Gaudi.
Excellent tour but not for anyone with a walking disability

Park Guell was great. The guide was very knowledgeable and informative she also tried to accommodate those who were less able to walk the hilly paths. Unfortunately, the tour group was larger than many of the tours we experienced in Spain and many of the participants were not prepared to do the necessary walking.

Our tour guide was disappointing, Im guessing new to this job. Larger group than I expected and she spoke only to those near her.

Very informative tour with a knowledgeable guide. Park Guell is an amazing place and a must see if you are going to Barcelona._br/_ I highly recommend this comprehensive tour.

This is one of the walking tours I loved very much during our euro trip. Francesca is really amazing. She knows a lot about the place. There is a definite charm around the way the guided tour happened. The place is absolutely pretty to start with. Nice panaromic view of Barcelona with the ocean backdrop. Park as such is simple because its an housing project but Gaudi designs are stunning and nothing like i have seen which is built in that era so far. so it was a visual treat.

Very good tour. It was easy to find the meeting point and join the tour. I was a bit nervous because the English only tour had sold out and I was mixed with another language, but the guide managed to fully translate in both languages must be tempting to shorten one occasionally and we still saw and heard as much as the English-only tour from comparing notes with someone later. I would recommend this as a way of seeing the Park.

This was a lovely park with unusal designs and whimsical statues. Unfortunately there was a lot of construction going on the day we were there so I am sure that we missed a few things. Wear good shoes! The tour winds up and down hilly paths, stone stairs with no rails, uneven pavement. Our guide did a very good job of giving us the history of the park and spoke acceptable English. The view from the park all the way across town to the ocean was spectacular.

I would opt for a smaller, more private tour. The tour guide was less than mediocre. Although I loved seeing Park Guell, this is definitely something I could have done on my own.

We took this tout the morning before we saw Sagrada Familia, which gave some insight into Gaudi before seeing his masterpiece. Marta, our guide, was energetic, informative and enthusiastic and I learned a lot. Basically, though, you are simply walking around the park and at the end, the part for which you are paying, you see some intresting Gaudi works. Park Guell was not my favorite thing in Barcelona but I_br/_ was glad I went. No interest or need to ever go back! Only take this tour if you are comfortable walking for an hour on varied topography, much of which is uneven. One specific thing that I did not like about the tour: It was an English only tour but 2 women spoke Spanigh so after our guide told us the info in English, as we walked she did the tour for them in Spanish, which was gracious of her but meant she was not free for questions or follow ups to what she had told us. I found it annoying as the tour specified English only.

We were in a large group, a bit of a negative....but the tour guide was good. We didn't have a lot of time to do this, so we did feel it was worthwhile.

Another great tour. Skip the line makes life so much easier and with a professional guide you actually know about what you are seeing. You get to see the most important sections of the park without wasting your time. Vincent was our guide and he was the best. Vincent was well organized, important, professional and very knowledgeable in the smallest details.

Everything was well organized and the tour guide was very knowledgeable. It was very difficult to hear the tour guide and felt that headphones were needed.

Park is pleasant with great views, landscaping and art. A must see if you have time to explore in Barcelona.

a very informative guide and a nice quick pace to the tour.

Nice, informative walking tour in Park Guell, that gives you the ability to skip all waiting to get inside. Guide was great and park itself - genuine product of its time - I highly recommend this activity to those who want not only to see, but also to understand all the structure and history of this spectacular place. Only disadvantage - this tour doesn't include getting inside Gaudi's house - for that you have to buy separate ticket and wait in extra line.

Finding the location of where to meet the tour would be much easier with a simple map. Tour itself I would say was simply OK.
Review by: Michael D, October 2017
Park Guell is a wonderful tourist attraction to see. Our group size was too large however smaller group size would allow the group to better see and hear. I was disappointed that the tour did not include a visit into Gaudi's private house which was in the park that was an additional amount

We loved this tour, but be prepared for some hiking uphill, so wear comfortable shoes. We had some older ladies in little thong sandals who were having a hard time. The park was so interesting and we got in right away. Loved the park. I highly recommend. Another great tour guide!

Totally worth it to cut the lines. The guide gives you a nice overview of the park and you can stay and revisit your favorite spots or areas you missed.

The Park is beautiful and our tour guide Alberto was very informative.

This park is simply lovely. Very crowded as expected. Our tour guide, Delores, was superb - give her a 5 star rating. She was charming, personable and very knowledgeable.

I got to the park about 15 minutes early. No one could tell me where I was to meet the group and I asked everyine working there that I was. After walking up and down for 40 minutes I finally found the group and the leader told me I needed to go to the ticket office. I tried to follow his directions down the stairs and to the left and ended up going up and down stairs and steep hills. Finally found the office and the nice lady there told me they have nothing to do with the groups. By this time I just gave up and walked around the free parts of the park. Very disappointing! You need to have specific directions to these things.

The tour guide was wonderful! However, there were over 40 people, difficult to hear - no head phones were provided - many_br/_ of the group just wondered around. Not worth the money to be with Julia Travel!

We had had a bad experience with a City Discovery tour of Sagrada, so I chose this company instead for our tour of Park Guell, and I am SO glad I did! Our guide was very kind, knowledgeable, and well-organized. He made the tour a real pleasure, even in the rain! His English was excellent and he encouraged us to ask questions, which I appreciate very much. This is a fascinating place, made even more interesting by an excellent guide. Thank you! My only suggestion for first-timers is to ensure you have the address of your next destination written down for the cab driver, if that is your chosen mode of transportation, as English is very difficult for some of them.
Review by: Erica G, May 2017
This tour was okay but the thing that let it down was the very poor microphone that the guide used. She was very pleasant and knew her stuff but it was hard to understand her English in a strong Spanish accent with a poor sound experience. Viatour used Julia tours for this which I would not use again because of the poor microphone

I highly recommend having a guided tour of Park Guell because you learn things you wouldn't have known if you go on your own.

Took this tour at 6 pm so there wasn't much of a Line to skip. The guide was okay but mostly her opinion so not sure there was much facts about certain areas of the park. _br/_ The park is lovely and a must do.
Review by: Susan S, May 2017
Very poor instructions to find meeting point if you are travelling there by Public transport. My husband was so fed up and exhausted with the long , hilly walk to get there because of the poor instructions that he didn't bother with the tour. Other people arrived late, after the tour had started, for the same reason._br/_ I went on the guided tour. It was OK. I felt a timed entrance ticket and a leaflet would have been fine.
Review by: Roly, April 2017
Very informative tour - this was booked out well in advance so I only got to go on the night 6:30pm tour which was a little late but then less crowded. The guide was excellent - a font of knowledge and the meeting point was easy to find._br/_ One thing would be to add more tours as only 3 available per day - not enough!!_br/_ You can spend the day in the park once the tour is over but would you want to?
Review by: Elizabeth J, April 2017
Guide was good and knowledgeable and did not walk too fast going up the stairs for us out-of-shape tourists to keep up. Be warned, the park is on the side of a hill and it is a lot of UP. Crowds of other tourists, even with limited entry, don't enhance the experience. I wouldn't try it without a skip-the-line tour like this. Limited toilets.

The guide was well-informed, friendly, patient, and fun to be with. The subject matter was relevant and appropriate for interested tourists. The tour length was easy, and the site was accessible. The guide conveyed the wonderment of this remarkable place.

We took the bus 24 from Plaza Catalyuna. The guide was good, informative and engaging. If you want to visit Gaudi's house, you need a separate ticket. Beautiful views. Interesting place to visit and discover the efficiency behind Gaudi's building, for example water draining or the links to nature. Recommend to see.

We loved this park, took a cab from Catalonia Atenas hotel for 9 euros, the hop on hop off stops here too. You can spend the wh.ole day once your inside the park but I would pack a lunch or snack, there is only one place to buy lunch inside the park and it's expensive and crowded. There are lots of small shops and restaurants right near the park where you can buy yogurts and fruit cups and sandwiches. Our guided tour guide was fantastic , so much information about Gaudi and the park. Loved it

This was a unique site not to be missed in a visit to Barcelona. Our knowledgeable guide gave us a thorough tour of Park Guell. We thought the tour was going to be in English only, however it turned out to be in both Spanish and English, which did become tedious and detracted from our experience.

A very interesting and Informative tour. The guide was very good and clearly explained the history of the park.
Review by: Michael H, January 2017
It was great to have the tour as the guide explained how the park became a park instead of a housing complex for the rich and famous. well worth doing the guided tour and we were very happy with Viator and their guides.

Carlos was a very knowledgeable tour guide. Our daughter had visited Park Guell a couple times previously without a guided tour, but really learned a lot she didn't know while on this tour. It was interesting hearing the many different theories behind Gaudi's work in the park. We recommend.

Again, would have preferred the tour to be in one language only - but the English only tours seemed to be fully booked. However must say that Vincent, our tour guide, did an excellent job of blending the commentaries using the two languages. He provided sufficient details punctured with jokes. Might be useful if the booking website highlights that the Olot street entrance is one of three entrances to the park it indicated it was the main entrance but didn't alert there were two other entrances. We didn't realize this and in using google map, we ended up nearer another entrance which is up a very high slope and had to end up walking all the way down again to the Olot street entrance.
