Three Countries in One Day: France, Andorra and Spain from Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

Pack your passport and expand your horizons on a day trip from Barcelona that visits three countries in one day. Start your morning early with a visit to the medieval Spanish village of Baga, then head to French UNESCO World Heritage-listed town of Ax Les Therms for breakfast, go duty-free shopping in Andorra la Vell and end your trip with a drink en-route to Barcelona – all in one day! This small-group tour is limited to 20 people, ensuring a more personal experience.

Where else but Europe can you visit three countries in one day? After an early start from Barcelona, you’ll be in the Spanish village of Baga by 8:30am, surrounded by the rocky peaks of Cadi-Moixero National Park.

Explore Baga’s central square and medieval church before crossing the border into France in time for breakfast in the walled town of Mont-Louis. After traditional French fare of croissants and café au lait, explore the town’s 17th-century fortified citadel, designed by Vauban and protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Leaving Mont-Louis at 11am, you’ll take a scenic drive over the Pyrenees Alps into neighboring Andorra, to the capital Andorra la Vella. Explore Romanesque churches and stone houses in the city’s old quarter, and enjoy lunch in a traditional Andorran restaurant (own expense).

After lunch, you have the choice of hitting Andorra la Vella’s tax-free shops for bargain-priced wine and souvenirs, or hitting the mountain trails surrounding the River Madriu and visiting the Romanesque church of St Miquel d’Engolasters.

The return drive to Barcelona departs Andorra la Vella at 4pm, dropping into Coll de Nargo for a late-afternoon drink en route. Admire Coll de Nargo’s Romanesque church of St Climent and stunning valley views before continuing the drive back to Barcelona, arriving at around 7pm in time for pre-dinner drinks and tapas or whatever else your evening holds.

This was a long day with a lot of driving ...... but it is very interesting and we had a great tour guide Xavi (Chavy) who made the long day very interesting. Our tour was by Explore Catalonia and Xavi did a great job. The stops were interesting and the landscape of crossing the Pyrenees mountains was amazing. I would definitely recommend this tour but be prepared for of lot of van time.

There is no responsible persons for contact and there is no office at all. We traveled all the way from Atlanta, US to go for this trip and we were late for 2 minutes because of getting taxi on time. We called the number which was in our itinerary and told them we are few blocks away from the departing location and he was very rude on the phone. They didn't wait for us for 2 minutes and the bus left. When we reached there, there is no office or any travel agent or anybody. He even refused to take our call. We lost the money for no service and I was reading the reviews and found out that this people has no responsibility that they even lost people on the way during the stop. It is just waste of money and irresponsible tour conductors. I would never recommend this tour operator and it would be just waste of your money.

What an exciting tour with a great guide. The countryside was beautiful. Lots of photo ops! We had a great time at each interesting stop along the way.

My main purpose for this tour was to see Andorra and the Pyrenees mountains. But I got to see the the quaint Spanish town of Baga, and Ax LesThermes in the French side of the Pyrenees where I got to soak my feet in the warm thermal springs. We stopped for lunch in Andorra where there are plenty of good restaurants.

This is a very nice day trip. The drive is interesting and our guide made a point of telling us about many of the castles that we saw along the way.

I like the tour. Camilo has a lot of knowledge about the culture of each country. I would like to see more tours like this because it is easier just to get in the bus and listen to the tour guy.

The itinerary sounded great, but too long (and exhausting) a drive between locations left almost no time at each place to explore it. I think, it would be far better to split this combined tour on three different tours altogether.

We were very disappointed in the tour. It was a 12 hours tour and we spent about 10 hrs in the van. We stopped in Baga Spain for 1/2 hours to get coffee and danish with a little walking tour of the village. Then on to Ax Tes Themes France where we had another 1/2 hour to see the thermal bath in the center of town (nothing else worth seeing in town.) On to Andorra, we did get our passports stamped then into town for an hour lunch - and it took an hour to get lunch and no time to explore. It felt like we drove for 41/2 hours to have lunch and then return. Our guide spoke English, however he had a monotone and talked softly that we could not heard 90% of what he said.

It was a great tour. The guide was awesome and the drive was beautiful. He even helped us get our passport stamps! Only complaint was the actual city in Andorra we stayed at was all shopping. Would have prefered more time in the smaller towns.

You are able to see a lot in one day. Our guide made sure that we all got Andorra stamps in our passports as we crossed the border. The thermal baths at Ax les Thermes was a wonderful bonus. The whole family enjoyed.

I would definitely recommend this trip, I would've liked a bit more time on your own to explore but I understand it was not possible with the time we had.

The guide was friendly, but the tour wasn’t organized well. It was a long drive and you only get to stay 30-60min at every places. Every places were beautiful and nice, but it was not worth the money if you are expecting to see a lot. We had walked a lot in City of Barcelona for few days before the tour, so it was a good chill out day for us.

This is a unique way to experience the Pyrenees from Spain. We loved the trip into the mountains and it was a fun, charming stop in the French town, Ax Les Thermes. The trip into Andorra had beautiful scenery but the time allotted was really not enough to do anything. 45 minutes was not sufficient to shop or to sit and have a meal. I would adjust the trip to include more time in the capital or eliminate it all together and stop in one of the smaller Andorra towns and allow more time to appreciate where you are.

A very long day’s trip that has major stops in three countries, from Barcelona, hence the name of the trip. The main tag line is Andorra, with stops at a village in Spain and one in France too. If you really want to say you have been to Andorra, do the trip - if not, don’t. The Spanish and French village stops were simply add-ones. Andorra le Vella, the main town, is the pits - modern, soulless, one big shopping mall. The mountain scenery is spectacular. They would be better off including a walk in the mountains and cutting time in the towns.

Good tour, you are going to spend a lot of time in the bus. That's not an issue, just something to be aware of. You get a nice taste of each area and the views are breath taking

If you absolutely love nature and the scenery you will love this tour, beyond that, not much. It is about a 3 hour drive and you go to Baga, which is a waste of time in my opinion. You only stop there to get coffee and use the restrooms. You then go to Ax Les Thermes which wasn't great either for lunch and that's it. The only place you really get any time at is Andorra de la Vella which is just a modern city for shopping, however, the time you arrive there, all the stores are closed because the owners are having a siesta at that time. So, the only highlights of the trip are the views of the mountains.

Nice tour except that when we went, there was traffic build-up on the mountainous road. So we only had less than 1 hour to explore Andorra La Villa, that included 30 minutes for lunch. All we did was took a picture at the small bridge with the stream as backdrop.

I have taken six or seven tours through Viator, in various countries, and have been very happy with everything I have done. I was excited about this tour since it had such great reviews and I really wanted to see some mountains and get some pretty photos. _br/_ Highlights I was excited about:_br/_ Take in the magnificent views from a high mountain pass_br/_ Enjoy a short walk in a typical Andorran valley_br/_ Neither of these things happened on my tour! All we did was drive, stop, then shop and eat. This was NOT what I was hoping for and feel a little taken advantage of. I am disappointed that I wasted one of my few precious days in Barcelona for this unimpressive tour. If something is a highlight it should be guaranteed. I will be thinking twice before booking another tour.

We took off from Barcelona early in the morning and headed to a beautiful small town called Baga. The town was surrounded by mountains and really had a nice views. From there we were supposed to head to Ax-les-thermes but since the road going there was closed, we went to Mont Luis, France instead. The area just had a snowing the day before we came and what a beautiful town it became covered with snows. Only after that we visited Andorra for a quick lunch and quick sightseeing. I say quick because it really is quick. I was just hoping we could spend more time in Andorra since there are many new things can be discovered there. But overall the tour was good.

3 countries in ONE day? OMG yaassss! It was a good escape from the busy street of BCN to get to know nearby cities, places where I will never would have known of or get to on my own.

This was one o the highlights of the trip. Be sure to dress warmly if you go in the fall because the day began high in the mountains at about 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, bring cash- we stopped at a market along the way.

It was nice to get out of the city and see the Pyrenees. Andorra was interesting and it was nice to have time to do some shopping I didn't know you could have so many perfume and glasses shops in one town!. I would totally do this day trip again. Oscar and Cam made a great combo as the driver/guide and the pace was good. I enjoyed hiking up to the statute of the Virgin in Ax Les Thermes as it provided a nice view of the town. The hike was short, but had a relatively big elevation gain over the short distance. Also, it didn't leave much time for lunch so I just grabbed a sandwich and ate it in the town square and watched people.

Amazing tour of 3 countries in a day. We got to see snow and had a snow ball fight in the Pyrenees. Our guide Camillo Cam was amazing. Extremely informative and passionate about his job. He says he loves his job and it shows in every facet of his work. I had been on 6 other cruise excursions just within the past 10 days and Cam easily is the best tour guide we had during our European vacation this year. The town of Baga is quaint and cute. It was great walking around before anyone was up. We were able to take pictures of sites in uncrowded streets. Andorra is a cute little place and a last for us to visit as a micronation of Europe. It is virtually impossible to reach on your own if not having a car or wanting to sit on a public bus for 5 hours. The bus ride to and from were a bit long a lot of distance to cover and I wish the bus was a bit more comfortable for tall people but otherwise it was a spectacular tour. Well worth the time and money!!

Definitely a nice day trip from Barcelona but not exactly what we thought it would be... overall a B grade tour. The stops in Spain and France have a nice small town feel to them but aren't especially compelling for more than a few minutes. Andorra was really a duty free shopping excursion with a few fun stops to experience snow and take pictures of the mountains winter season. The exposure to the Andorran medieval villages shouldn't even be mentioned in the description since we saw the exterior of about 5 houses during a 15 min walk. Compared to prior experiences in Tuscany, this wasn't even in the same category. Again, a nice trip but only if you're looking to get away from Barcelona for a day.

This was such a great trip and we are very glad we did it. The novelty of visiting three countries in one day was appealing because coming from Australia , distances are a different concept. The scenery during the drives was breathtaking and all the stops were interesting. With plenty of time to see and do things . Arnaud our Guide was very informative and helpful. Would highly recommend this tour.

As the description mentions, it's a very long day. We enjoyed the little towns we stopped in both in Spain and France. The tour allowed for lots of time to explore. The weather did not cooperate for us - we had snow and rain in Andorra in September so we missed some of the views. Andorra is basically a strip mall - lots of designer shops but not much else to do. Our guide was great - very informative. Just be prepared for windy roads and lots of hours on a less than comfortable bus.
