Walking History Tour of Barcelona's Jewish Quarter
Barcelona, Spain
Get to know the historic landmarks and unique traditions of Barcelona's Jewish Quarter during a private, 2-hour walking tour with a local guide. See many ancient sites and learn about the city's important Jewish history along the way, as you walk through one of Barcelona's oldest neighborhoods. Visit one of Europe's oldest synagogues and see a medieval-era bath house. Learn about local Jewish figures through history as you receive the undivided attention of your private guide.
Your 2-hour walking tour begins at 10am, in the center of the Jewish quarter — which is also the oldest part of Barcelona still in use today. Alongside your personal guide, see the house of Rabbi Shlomo ben Aderet and the Ancient Synagogue of Barcelona (one of Europe's oldest). Walk by the Quarter's the old gates and wall, and see the Synagogue Poca; now converted into a church. Learn about the importance of the Jewish people to the city's development and history from your guide.
Next, visit the Plaza del Rey, where Christopher Columbus came to announce news of the continent he "discovered." Along the way, see stones with Hebrew inscriptions in surprising areas, in addition to the locations of three former synagogues. Finally, observe the famous dedication to Samuel Hasefardi and finish the tour with a visit to the medieval ceremonial Jewish bath (mikve) — which was only recently re-discovered.
The tour concludes at noon, in the Placa de Sant Jaume.
Really interesting short walking tour. Unfortunately we had lousy weather but we still enjoyed ourselves.

A fabulous tour. Adi was a great guide. He showed us what was once the Jewish Quarter. He made the history come alive for us. It would be impossible to do this on your own since most of it is long gone. A most amazing morning!

Adi adapted the pace of the tour to our needs, and kept the tour interesting. He definitely knows Barcelona well and showed us sights we wouldn't have known to look for otherwise. You'll get the opportunity to learn more about the Jewish community in Barcelona today as well.

I really enjoyed the tour. It was very informative and even though made me sad for the past , also made me hopeful for the future. Maybe next time we will have enough Jewish people living in Barcelona we can even have kosher food tour:

This was an excellent tour, I did it my first day in Barcelona and it was a wonderful introduction to the city's history through the lens of the Jewish experience. Ari was a great guide. He knows a lot about the region and was lovely and attentive to the teenagers on the tour.

We were not sure what to expect from this walking tour, in regards to what may be left of the Jewish Quarter after 500 years. Dina, our guide, was a wealth of knowledge about where the Jewish community came from, the golden years in Spain, the events surrounding the Inquisition, and what happened to the Jewish community following those years. To be in the actual quarter, made history come alive. I highly recommend this tour.

This was a wonderful and informative tour about the history of the Jewish people in Barcelona. Adi, the guide, was very knowledgeable. He also paced the tour especially for me to keep me in the shade when I struggled with the heat. The best tour I had in Barcelona.

Adi, our guide, was informed and informative. Since it was just the two of us, he geared his presentation to our level of background, interest and pace.

A wonderful insight of the history of Jewish settlement in Barcelona and a great tour of the historic synagogue's within the Gothic Quarter. As a blended religious family, there was still something for everyone to learn and take away! The tour guide was wonderful and had plenty of knowledge...
