Step aboard the first scenic railway tour in the Caribbean! You will be taken on a 3-hour tour along the 30-mile (48 km) rail circuit on the Eastern Caribbean island of St. Kitts. While you ride, listen to a narration of the history of the Caribbean, and conclude the train ride with a 12-mile (19 km) sightseeing bus tour of St. Kitts’ attractions and landmarks.

See fields of sugar canes surrounding the railcar as the railway winds around the slopes of the remnant volcano Mt. Liamuiga. Discover the hidden black sand beach and overgrown plantation estates, and cross steel bridges, including one stretching 300 feet (90 meters) across a deep ravine. You will also pass many villages including the Mansion Village and Saddlers Village, surrounded by fields producing a range of fruit.
The colorful narration of the history of Caribbean and St. Kitts includes tales of the “Last Railway in the West Indies,” which was used to transport sugar cane from the island’s sugar plantations to the sugar factory in Basseterre, St. Kitts capital city. You will also be entertained with folk songs and hymns by the St. Kitts Railway Choir.
At the end of your train ride, transfer to a sightseeing bus to continue your 12-mile (19 km) journey along Island Main Road. The route passes under Brimstone Hill Fortress and through small villages and towns before returning to Basseterre.

Booked the tour online and there was a problem with our pickup at Marriott however following a call Blu Water Safari quickly picked us up but we arrived almost 30 minutes late at the catamaran. If there was another group ahead of us they left and we ended up the only 2 people on a beautiful 65 foot catamaran with a 4 person crew!! The crew showed no signs of being burdened with all that work to sail the two of us to the other end of the island. THe crew was fabulous constantly filling our complimentary drinks and helping us step out onto the front of the yacht. The crew leader came to the front and gave us a narrative of what we were sailing by then we were met at the marina and a safari open air tour van took us on an amazing land tour. His name was Elvis and he was very, very good. There is no way that Blue water Safari made any money on this trip for 2 but the important point is that they delivered the service anyway in a 5 star manner. Blue Water Safari is a reliable tour company that delivers a superior service.

The narrative on the train trip provided context to the history and development of St. Kitts. Christmas carolling by the staff was much appreciated along with free flow of rum drinks. The greenery and coast with black sand were spectacular.

The train itself was comfortable.. open air up top and allegedly air conditioned on lower level (not in OUR car). Toilet onboard was disgusting -- worse than outhouse. Staff, however, were terrific. "Sites" consisted of 3 bridges, concrete quarry, school kids waving and a beach view here and there.
