Half-Day Tour to British D-Day Beaches Including the Sword Beach Sector from Bayeux
Bayeux, France
Learn more about one of the most important events in European history in this guided half-day tour of the British D-Day landing sites. Led by a professional English-speaking guide, you will walk in the footsteps of the British Airborne forces who landed in the early hours of D-Day to capture the bridge code-named Pegasus and the beach code-named Sword. Visit Pegasus Bridge Museum (own expense) and pay your respects at Ranville War Cemetery.
Meet your English-speaking guide in Bayeux at 8:45am and jump into the air-conditioned minivan for a half-day tour of the beaches invaded by the British on D-Day, June 6th, 1944, which marked the starting point for the liberation of Europe during WWII.
Visit Sword Beach, the site of an assault by the 3rd British Division; Pegasus Bridge, which was audacious raided by British glider troops; Pegasus Bridge Museum (own expense); and Ranville War Cemetery, where you can pay your respects to the more than 2,000 Commonwealth soldiers who fell in the battles surrounding this area.
Along the way, your experienced guide will share stories, facts, and anecdotes from the French-British allegiance during WWII, and there will be plenty of time to explore these historic sites at your leisure.
At the end of the tour, the minibus will return to the original departure point in Bayeux.
Very knowledgeable guide. Knew not only the British part of the invasion, but very familiar with the individual participants and what their rolls were. Very knowledge about Pegasus bridge, and the museum. Very highly recommended.
