This 11-day China small group tour is a collection of highlight cities - Beijing, the capital city for several dynasties; Xi'an - the starting point of the world-renowned Silk Road; Shanghai, an international modern metropolis; and the most importantly, the three Gorges Dam, the 'cross-the-century' project and the Yangtze River cruise, just as classical as it sounds.
Day 1: Beijing Today your guide will meet you at Beijing International Airport and transfer you to the hotel. Relax for the rest of the day before the adventure begins.
Overnight: Novotel Beijing Xinqiao (4-star)
Day 2: Beijing (B+L) Visit Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City this morning. An a la carte lunch is served to taste the real Chinese food. In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Heaven. The evening will be highlighted by a lovely Chinese Kung Fu Show.
Overnight: Novotel Beijing Xinqiao (4-star)
Day 3: Beijing (B) Visit the Badaling Great Wall and a jade factory in the morning. Lunch is on your own arrangement. Visit the Sacred Way. You will see the appearance of Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium) on the way to downtown.
Overnight: Novotel Beijing Xinqiao (4-star)
Day 4: Beijing - Xi'an (B+L) Visit the Summer Palace, a pearl store and the traditional Hutong alleys. A la carte lunch is served. Take an afternoon flight to Xi'an and check in the hotel.
Overnight: Sheraton Hotel Xi'an (5-star)
Day 5: Xi'an (B+L+D) Full day tour to the amazing Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, a pottery-making factory, the Small Wild Goose Pagoda and the famous Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show with the Dumpling Dinner. A special home cooked lunch at a local family is served today. (Tips: the dance show is available from Apr to Nov.)
Overnight: Sheraton Hotel Xi'an (5-star)
Day 6: Xi'an - Chongqing (B) Visit the ancient City Wall. Take a flight to Chongqing and visit Ciqikou area if time permits. Then your memorable Yangtze River tour begins at 22:00 as you board the luxurious cruise ship.
Overnight: President No.6 with balcony (5-star)
Day 7 - Day 8: Yangtze River Cruise (B+L+D) Yangtze River cruise tour.
Overnight: President No.6 with balcony (5-star)
Day 9: Yichang - Shanghai (B+L) Visit the Three Gorges Dam. Check out of the ship and drive to Yichang. After lunch, Take a flight to Shanghai and check in at the hotel.
Overnight: Pullman Shanghai JingAn (4-star)
Day 10: Shanghai (B+L) Visit Shanghai Museum, the Yuyuan Garden and a silk shop. An a la carte lunch will be served at a popular local restaurant. After lunch, visit the Bund, Nanjing Road and an ancient cultural street, Tianzifang. Upon returning to the hotel your guide will see you into the lobby to say bon voyage.
Overnight: Pullman Shanghai Jing An (4-star)
Day 11: Shanghai (B) Airport drop-off is not included today. Please find your own way to the airport.
We took the 11 day tour, and had a fabulous time. The guide in Beijing, Eddie, was great, well organized, knowledgeable and helpful. He was with us every step of the tour. The hotels in Bejing and Xi'an were above my expectation, grand lobby, huge room, comfortable beds and fine linens. In Xi'An our guide was Carol, also excellent on the same level with Eddie. Good information provided by her during Terra Cotta warrior tour. We ate lunch in a private persons house and to tell the truth I was not looking forward to that but the experience was great, I recommend it highly. The river cruise was wonderful, the three gorges are spectacular, the first being the absolute best. Staff were attentive, they taught us to play Mahjong, and the food was excellent on board. Included in the cruise was a trip to a side canal, that showed how they used to pull boats through the canal. I enjoyed it very much. I wish there was an extra day in Shanghai, lots to see, not enough time. _br/_ I recommend this tour, the value was incredible. I don't know how they can offer so much value for the price. Please do not go in June, July and August, it is incredibly hot.
