In China, acrobatics have been a part of the culture since the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220). Acrobatics were part of village harvest festivals. During the Tang Dynasty, acrobatics saw much the same sort of development as European acrobatics saw during the Middle Ages, with court displays during the 7th through 10th century dominating the practice. Acrobatics continues to be an important part of modern Chinese variety art.Though the term initially applied to tightrope walking, in the 19th century, a form of performance art including circus acts began to use the term as well. In the late 19th century, tumbling and other acrobatic and gymnastic activities became competitive sport in Europe.
Chaoyang Theater is one of the top venues to enjoy traditional Acrobatics Shows in Beijing. Established in 1984, it was designated to be the theater to host government guests and visiting delegations in 1986. Chaoyang theatre also attracts both domestic and foreign tourists with its refined performance from late 1980s.So far the theater has been putting on acrobatics shows for more than 20 years, and received over 3 million guests from overseas. Numerous foreign leaders and distinguished guests have come to this theater to view its wonderful acrobatics show.
Booked this tour for my first night in Beijing. Plane landed at 4PM and the show started at 7PM. Tight scheduling but it worked. Fung Fung was my guide for the theater. She and the driver were there on time and we made it to the theater with time to spare before the show. Fung Fung was a wealth of knowledge and, since it was my first time in Beijing, she gave me several interesting facts and pointers about the city. The show was mesmerizing as the young acrobats performed unbelievable feats and display of skills. After the show, the driver was waiting to return us to my hotel.

The organisation for this show was excellent in timing and comfort. The show was very good, although we have seen similar before. The final act with the motorcycles has to been seen to be believed and makes the event more than worthwhile!
