Badaling Great Wall and Ming Tombs Bus Tour

Beijing, China

Spend a wonderful day on the outskirts of Beijing exploring the Ming Tombs, a jade factory, and the Badaling Great Wall section on this 8 hour tour. Follow your guide to visit the first UNESCO World Heritage Site of the tour, the Ming Tombs. Here you will see the largest of the tombs, the Changling Tomb. Afterward, take a trip to a jade carving factory to learn about this popular trade before enjoying a stop for a traditional Chinese lunch. You will then make your way to the Badaling Great Wall section to admire the mountainous scenery surrounding this well-preserved section of the wall. Travel in comfort with air-conditioned bus transport to each location as well as hotel pickup and drop-off.

Your English-speaking guide will pick you up at your hotel lobby between 7am and 8:30am to begin your experience.

The first stop of the tour is the Ming Tombs, the well-preserved thirteen Ming Dynasty imperial tombs with 500 years of history behind it. You will visit the Changling Tomb, the head and largest tomb of the Ming Tombs. Here is where the first emperor in Beijing, Yongle and the Empress Xu are buried.

After exploring the Ming Tombs, you will enjoy a trip to a jade carving factory for 45 minutes. Carved jade is a very popular product in China, not only for the excellent skills artists need to do the carvings, but also because of the cultural background behind. You will have a traditional Chinese lunch following the visit.

Next, you will see the the Great Wall, the longest piece of architecture in the world, stretching from China’s east coast to China’s west desert. Walk along the Badaling section, the most famous and best-preserved wall section near Beijing. Its highest point is around 800 meters above sea level and offers an optional cable car transit up and down (at own expense).

After the visit, you will return to downtown Beijing, where you will have the opportunity to learn about the Chinese traditional tea ceremony. Finishing the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel around 6pm.

This was the worst tour guide of the three trips I took in Beijing. He simply didn't care to explain anything or didn't know anything, he dropped people off before arriving at their actual hotels, making them walk in a city they didn't know, and he fought loudly with a customer about payment for a solid 20 minutes, while the rest of the passengers watched.
